  • The sign of Christmas. I remember watching this while browsing my way through the Sears Christmas catalog. When Christmas was Christmas. Right up there with Henry Fonda and Gee Aa F (GAF) Viewmaster and instamatic cameras with flash cubes.

  • 54 years old, and I can remember as a child when this commercial started rotating after Thanksgiving you KNEW Christmas was coming soon. I truly believe this commercial is endeared by most of who kids in the 60's.

  • @tonybklyn I'm slightly older and like the other poster, I would come running from another room when I heard the commercial. I guess pretty cheesy by today's CGI standards, but back then they were the best! I remember these back into the 60's best of all...

  • I remember these commercials when the shaver only had 2 heads!

  • Like everyone else that's posted... this was my favorite commercial growing up ( Im 45 ) and I too would run from the other room just to see this one! When this commercial came on, and the other Norelco Santa commercials........ you KNEW Christmas was getting closer !!!!

  • I remember an earlier one of these Noelco commercials from the early-to-mid 1960s. I wonder if it will ever turn up here on You Tube, or if the original of these is on one of those commercials compilation DVD sets?

I seem to recall having first watched one of these when Norelco was sponsoring some Christmas TV special.

  • @gymnastix Oops, I said "Christmas." I forgot the Imperial Grand Wizardry of The United States of Secular Social Justice, Obama Bin Biden, have forbidden use of that term; that unless we are referring to Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and/or Ashura (or live in a commune in Berkeley, California or Cambridge, Massachusetts, and are displaying a Rainbow flag, facing west, at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd day of the Winter Solstice), all other winter religious observations are to be referred to as "holidays."

  • Loved loved loved this commercial growing up!

  • This commercial always makes me smile

  • fun time santas getting a shave

  • I'm 52 I remember this when I was a kid.Bring back memories.

  • Brings a tear to my eye...wish they would show this again..Christmas wasn't Christmas til they showed this and the Coca Cola one.

  • I remember loving this commercial as a kid, and hoping my mom would buy my dad this shaver. It seemed to make Christmas time more Christmasier! Now I'm sad because I'm thinking of mom and dad...there was something about the 70's!

  • what great memories of Christmas!! whenever i heard the music i knew Christmas was near! sad, times are so different now.

  • ITS HARD TO BELIVE THAT THERES SOME PEOPLE COMING IN OUR COUNTRY AND THEY ARE TRYING TO STOP OUR SCHOOLS FROM HAVING CHRISTMAS PLAYS NOW STORES ANIT ALLOW TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS ANYMORE IM JUST GLADE I GOT TO LIVE THRU THE 70S JUST PURE AND SIMPLE TIMES THE 70S WERE GREAT I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR THESE KIDS TODAY MAN I WISH I HAD A TIME MACHINE I WOULD OF BEEN GONE YESTURDAY

  • MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS COMMERCIAL OF ALL TIME

  • Those shavers....have very nice styling.

  • For some reason I seemed to remember Burl Ives as riding that shaver, I guess I'm wrong. Apparently, many people thought it wasn't Christmas until the Norelco shaver slid down the hill as I did. I remember this from the Rudolph cartoon. I was watching some antique show and a guy had some of the plastic characters from that show. He said Burl Ives melted in his moms attic though :(

  • A great commercial memory

  • My brother and I have always said, "It isn't Christmas until you see Santa Claus on the Norelco shaver!"

  • I remember seeing this commercial every December when Rudolph the Red- Nosed Reindeer was on. Those were big nights on TV when I was a kid. Nothing at all like today.. and thats a shame.

  • Commercial was so neat-o that it took years before it dawned on my that Santa, being a guy famous for a humongous beard, probably wasn't the most logical person to endorse a razor. ;)

  • As a kid in the 70s, you knew Christmas was close the first time you saw this commercial every year.

  • WOW!!! This brings back so many warm, sweet childhood memories!!!

  • @CJfromPhilly Doesn't it, though?!

  • My grandfather still has it and it still works

  • I great memory of Christmas' past.

  • Watching Rudolph and seeing this in the commercials..Good times.:)

  • @babu357 AND EATING MOMS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES FRESH OUT OF THE OVEN GREAT TIMES

  • I too remember this when Rudolph was on. I miss those old days!

  • I remember seeing this when the Rudolph holiday show was on

  • Anyone want shaved ice?

  • You all won't believe what I just saw ! Norelcos' 2010 Christmas commercial looks like ........ well, where's that 4-letter S word, the SH one !

  • i loved this when i was a kid im a 80s kid so

  • When I was a kid, I knew Christmas was near when this ad appeared on TV! Been soooooooooo lonnnnnnnng since I've seen this commercial. Ty for posting it and bringing back great memories!

  • Oh, the memories! This was a Christmas tradition back then. It reminds me of the joy of being out of school and preparing for the best day of the year.

  • Now THIS is what the holidays are all about...I love that cute little santa. Happy for the moment.

  • Why do I get a huge smile when I see this commercial or a faint tear in the eye. Wish I could go back

  • Why do I get a huge smile when I see this commercial or a faint tear in the eye.

  • A classic! It would usually be the first Christmas commercial I would see Thanksgiving night and would kick off the holiday season.

  • hey were Santa's reindeer on strike?

  • The ladies razors are good for shaving their juju's with.

  • Classic and they even mentioned Christmas, which I suspect is the real reason they have gotten rid of the commercial.

  • that's fresh prince's fauvortie commercial:)

  • Oh I'm 48 and I LOVED this commerical, loved it. Memories

  • Wow ...good memories...

  • This commercial (and lots more like it) were released over the years. They had a new one for each Christmas, they continued this series into the 1980s. This is one of the few TV images of the past that Robot Chicken and Family Guy have not yet parodied. Perhaps Seths Green & McFarlane may like these commercials too much to skewer them. At any rate - yeah, I stand guilty. I loved this ad too.

  • I wonder if any of these are on eBay....they'd make a nice retro-collectable.

  • my grand dad and i found the same ones im 26 years old and i use this one but i like the one that i am getting soon Norelco HS8420

  • I will be 40 in May and I remember this commercial vividly. Great memories!

  • I would have sworn I had written what a1elvisfan wrote. I am also 45 and my brothers and I always said it wasn't Christmas until Santa on the Norelco came down the snowy hill. Do they still some version of this now?

  • Everyone 45 years old remembers these ads, I am 45 also, and yes this was my favorite commercial from way back when, I always knew it was Christmas time when I saw it.

  • I'm 42 and remember these very well.

  • I feel like a kid again, used to love this spot so much when I was growing up in the 70's (I'm 45 now) and for some crazy reason I still wanna reach out and touch that fake snow.

  • Jesus, electric razors are terrible nowadays, I can't even imagine how shitty they were in the 70's.

  • no they were better. things are thrown together sloppily now w/o any thought put into them and stuff just doesn't last. things made back in the day were built to last and it worked well while it did!

  • Yeah! it's back! In the ole daze not to far ago, this rang in the holiday season as far as commercials go - oh and the coca cola commercials too.

  • It's just not Christmas without seeing Santa on a razor.

  • I loved this commercial when it originally aired. I was too young to shave (I was 9 years old in 1978), but I loved the image of santa riding that razor through the snow.

  • wow so it really does exist very nice commercial. didnt know about it but it was metion on a Fresh Prince Of Bell Air Christmas Episode abd decided to look it up nice commercial

  • My all time favorite as a kid.... I used to come running to watch this commercial if I was in another room... I'm 44 so that tells you how old this commercial is.

  • I did the same thing and I just turned 45 a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't Christmas if I didn't see this commercial.

  • Same here: I remember this commericial well. I'm 44----I'll turn 45 in March. Holy crap, I'm getting old....

  • @Michelep65 i got u by 3 years,.....i liked this ad sooo much made me think about burl ives as sam the snow man..too cute!

  • @Michelep65 Agreed! I'm 43 and I still remember that commercial. Had some great Christmas memories during those years. The toys I received then ruled!!

  • @Fab4geek2010 Do you mean the pressed steel Tonka ones that they no longer make anymore ? instead of all this cheap plastic crap that they capitalize on now ?

  • @sr71ablackbird Yes. Toys were made alot better back in the day. What I wouldn't give to relive those happy times again.

  • @Michelep65 hey, don't feel alone, you're only 4 yrs older (soon to be 3 years older) than me. 1978. During that year, a blizzard hit where i lived, everything was shut down due to that profane whte stuff - the 4-letter S word, and i'm NOT talking about the SH one either. i'm talking about the SN one.

  • @sr71ablackbird Yes. I remember tha year dearly! It was smething when they had shut the Detroit school systems down for like 3 days straight! It was a great time to sleep in and play with X-Mas toys from a few months before. This commercial is one of my favorites as a child and still is! :)

  • I remember this neat commercial as a kid. :) And have you noticed that Santa was riding a razor but he never seems to shave his beard?

  • Thanks for posting. It made me remember a wonderful time in my life and filled my heart with joy....who'd think a commercial could do that.

  • From the '60s onward, these commercials with Santa on the shaver meant Christmas was coming...true classics!

  • Definitely! I remember them as early as 1968! Christmas, it's almost here, said my 4 year old heart!

  • I loved this one as a kid my self I told my husband just the other day I wish they would air it...I am so glad you put it on makes me feel like a kid again.

  • It wasn't Xmas until this commercial, the Miller Commerical with the horse drawn sleigh, and the Andre's Champagne commercial came on!

    I miss the 70s

  • So say we all!

  • Looks like we're a bunch of old timers here! Do you guys remember that they ran that commercial year after year? It must have run in the neighborhood of 10 years.

  • My favorite Christmas commercial of all time. When I was a kid I loved the Santa waving as he sled away at the end. Thanks for posting!

  • I loved this when I was a kid

  • I remember seeing this ad while decorating the tree.

  • This ad just popped into my head today. I seriously doubted I would find it on youtube, but here it is. Makes me feel all nostalic.

  • I was just thinking about this commercial the other day. Thank you for posting!

  • THAT IS A CLASSIC !

  • Wow! Does that bring back memories!

Thank you so much for posting this. So great to see this again.
