  • I'm pretty sure that's not David Letterman.

  • in this song you can hear all of their influences from country to hardcore

  • Dinosaur Jr, the loudest band I've ever seen. Love them!!!

  • Legends, this chat show ain't worthy

  • thats fucking craig

  • @vbs huh, I didn't know Letterman was scottish.

  • We all forget that although he is a great guitarist, he was a dick to the members of his band, and even stifled the creativity of the rest of the band. Why do you think there are only two songs on You're Living All Over Me written by Barlow?

  • Wow this must be old, not a single speck of grey in Craig's hair

  • i cant believe i like this

  • gotta like this, man.

  • i wish i could solo like J, its not the technicality of it, its the feel of it and I rarely see anybody who has it as much as J

  • this david letterman dude looks a bit like that craig ferguson dude for me.......

  • This performance just kicked my ass.

  • I had a whole band doing this sound because I listened to this album so many times, this song being my favorite.

  • you're gonna tell me that solo at 2:27 isnt PITCH-PERFECT? the guitar's not out of tune, its just the whammy bar. And its the same way on the album. its dinosaur jr, not some polished commercial rock band. the song is fantastic. and i love that he opts to just sing over Lou's basslines during the verses.

  • Yes. Just fuck yes.

  • Lou is Beautiful!

  • pretty fucking awesome

  • noise art

  • wait, hadn't they played letterman several times b4 this?

  • @NoRestForTheWeary i think he was talking about this original lineup with lou and murph

  • SOOOOO out of tune, seriously, get a tuner guys! <3

  • Grey Mascis

  • Who the fuck told J Mascis that playing an out of tune guitar was a good idea ?

  • @frostybob123 When the master tape of "You're Living All Over Me" arrived at SST, the label's production manager noticed the level on the tape was so high it was distorting; however, Mascis confirmed it was the way he wanted the album to sound. J could bring a beat up guitar with ukelele strings and a karaoke box for an amp and still make it sound crazy good. He just thinks beyond society's boundaries. Never doubt his genius.

  • This isn't the David Letterman Show....

  • goddamn i love dinosaur jr

  • I like Dinosaur Jr. don't get me wrong but this ALMOST sounds like one of those times where the band doesn't know they are bad and their singing sucks and yet the continue to play. But knowing Dinosaur is not on the conventional end of rock there is some kind of beauty in it.

  • @oldtomMF

what the fuck are you talking about? move along, knob...

  • @meinLiebsterFeind He's totally right, J's vocals are so off key, they sound terrible and his guitar is out of tune. No matter how tight you play it will NEVER sound good if your'e not in tune. I say this as a Dinosaur Jr fan too. I don't know how anyone who likes he original version could like this, his masturbatory whammy bar crap ruins half the song. so why don't YOU move along

  • @frostybob123 No, why don't you and your other homie move along. That's how J Mascis sings, sounds pretty normal by J Mascis standards. I like the garagey feel of this band and this song, and this live version. Now scoot scoot get out of here

  • @TheFillmoreJive so im assuming you havent heard the original then ?

  • @frostybob123 There are loads of bands playing bland, popular in-tune sugary shit. Uglyness can be beautiful too I think. It's good to see people not giving a shit and just doing there thing

  • ...Holy fuck that was good.

  • I AM THOROUGHLY INSPIRED. ROCK THE FUCK ON!!!!

  • Genres are stupid.

  • @fanofthemusic1090 I agree that sounds stupid calling Dino grunge rock pioneers,You cant categorize Dinosaur Jr, there music is so unique,

  • 2:27

  • What a surprise! Craig Furguson is an idiot. Dinosaur Jr. is alternative, not grunge, and they're very very good.

  • @andersoncouncilpf I think he meant that they paved the way for grunge, I don't think he meant that they were a grunge band.

  • @andersoncouncilpf I think he said "garage rock" not grunge rock

  • @andersoncouncilpf Who puts that much thought into categorizing their favourite bands into genres? Musical genres worked in the 50's, but nowadays music is changing so much that nearly everything you listen to is cross genre. My point is, both you and Craig are wrong, Dinosaur Jr. makes genre-less music... they just sort of jam.

  • @andersoncouncilpf Maybe not musically, but J Mascis has a very grunge-like demeanor. You can argue that they are from the "grunge culture" of the 90s.

  • i think the LSD may have affected my music taste back in high school

  • super soloing talent

  • Total fucking punk rock outta tune anf completely kick ass

  • J is a fucking GOD

  • Incorrect, they were on Letterman back when Green Mind came out.

  • @Interverse I think he means as the original line up

  • @Interverse They were on Jenny Jones, also! My first time hearing them, ever. I didn't know it wasn't the original lineup at the time, of course...

  • i dont know the alternative bands of today have strayed from the path... who wouldnt want to sound like this...

  • This video made a huge Dino Jr fan out of me!

  • Great stuff

  • Their bassist reminds me of Mark from Parks & Rec in this video

  • rip shit up

  • J Mascis - that's what a real guitar hero should be

  • @tunetank You read my mind : )

  • @tunetank He's my hero.

  • I LOVE this SONG

  • Dinossaur Jr. folks

  • @mindcontrolhands No shit it matters. Why wouldn't it?

  • Well it's grunge so it's definitely dirty sounding but hey, they look like they couldn't have any more fun:)

  • is this saturday night life??????????

  • @blackflagskate dude listen to the solo in said the people and shut your fucking mouth

  • J is really in the zone!

  • i would give my right testicle to get DEEP WOUND onto national television.

  • @blackflagskate your user name is blackflagskate. Greg Ginn was the guitarist for black flag and you think J Mascis is bad?

  • @blackflagskate this coming from somebody that even can't spell, j is awesome and he writes good tunes it's not all about crazy guitar solo's in flashy clothes fuck.. some people are dumb

  • @blackflagskate are you serious dude?

  • @blackflagskate I caught the sarcasm in your voice...dont worry.

  • @blackflagskate dude, listen to the solos in said the people and shut your fucking mouth

  • @blackflagskate dude listen to the solos in said the people and shut your fucking mouth

  • @blackflagskate

    Okay but, Fuck off

  • J looks like a wizard

  • @shangalang thats what tends to happen when you ARE one lol

  • forgot how much i love these guys. reminds me of a nice fall day in new york just fucking shit up playing tag or building bike ramps with the neighborhood kids after school

  • When J Mascis plays guitar solos he's like in his head like... "IMM JJJJ MASSSSCCIIIIIISSSSSS".

  • @charlessale haha

  • Even when the wammy bar puts him out of tune, Jay still sounds great haha

  • Comment removed

  • a really great song. it all fits so perfectly together. the riffs, the bass, the singing, the drums, holy shit.

  • ive never understood how barlow strums like that without accidentally crashing into other strings. bad ass.

  • Barlow generally plays chords on the bass. It's a style that he adopted to better contribute to the band's wall-of-sound approach.

  • @306ness HE DOES haha. I read an interview where he said he bled all over a bass while filming a film clip due to thrashing his fingers on the strings. Wasn't even his bass. Now that's punk!

  • this host is so wrong

  • this kids a douchebag his uploads are some shit band called the tributaries.

  • @atonalsoul1 Yeah well you're a cunt! haha so there

  • favorited :)

  • Didn't these guys tour with Nirvana or that the Jezus Lizard

  • Man they sound great

  • oh this guy....is he new...in germany you only know letterman or jay leno or johnny carsen.....

  • Not all that much, check out Craig Ferguson's youtube videos. He's the best.

  • Totally not Letterman btw.

  • How is it that Lou Barlow still looks like he is in his 20"s?

Jesus Christ, Lou.....get old and grey like the rest of us!!!!

  • @sunburstdj same with Thurston Moore!

  • @sunburstdj him and thurston moore are robots

  • @sunburstdj Look at Thurston Moore! Keep it indi and keep it fresh babay

  • @sunburstdj I know right J's hair became gray and murph lost his hair but Lou is still full of color. must use just for men haha

  • At what age do they become Dinosaur Sr?

  • lol'd.

  • LOL!!!!!!! that was awesome

  • @gjasr LOL!

  • @kkkartono LOL

  • @gjasr They haven't aged....ever

  • @gjasr they got sued by a older band called Dinosaur and so they added jr to the end

  • @gjasr never.

  • @gjasr research history of band. realise you are a cock.

  • @gjasr never, the reason they're jr. is because they were originally dinosaur but were sued by another band named dinosaur so they changed it

  • @gjasr Hopefully never!: )

  • @gjasr

    the age of never

  • What guitar is Mascis playing?

  • Fender Jazzmaster

  • Pretty much the only guitar he plays, his pride and joy.

    The jazzmaster.

  • he rocks a tele sometimes too

  • after 20 years, this song still gives me the goosebumps...

  • i need that BASS!

  • down to earth ..yet magical , like a warm fuzzy (distorted) blanket. Thanks J, Murph, and Lou :)

  • Just saw those guys in Vancouver two days ago...They were amazing ! They were so loud that my ears are still ringing...J. mascis had an insane guitar stack with 6 Marshall cabs powered by a HIWATT 100 and two Marshall amps...Ouch !!! :)

  • @frankybadboy

God, I wish I'd gone. Too young. I'd expect those dicks to play an all ages show.

  • @frankybadboy

that very same stack gave me ear problems for weeks after seeing them live at the Metro Sydney lol

  • same here~ haha

  • down to earth band. no pretensions. no bullshit. saw them live in valencia spain. fucking amazing gig.

  • So damn good, I have to see these guys at some point in my life, the key words being HAVE TO.

  • i just did. i highly recommend it.

  • I'm seeing them tomorrow night! Yes!!

  • i've seen them 5 times (6 this saturday) best live band ever

  • LOL, "1st TV appearance ever"....

In other words "Hey motherfuckers, we're back!"

  • Guess he means that they're reuniting for the first time since 1989 with the original lineup.

I love this performance. I love how J Mascis quits playing during the singing, to let everybody hear how fucking out of key he is. Only J is allowed to do something like that. And Jad Fair.

  • how did they break up in 1989 and still release albums in the early 90s???!!!

  • They didn't break up they just kicked out their bassist lou barlow, the origional lineup was broken up but j and murph did another two records with replacement bassists, then murph left and j did one more album in 97 under the name dinosaur jr

  • murph left after recording Where You Been in 1993. I think by 94 he was gone.

  • after touring for bug, which is the album after you're living all over me he left. which was ..89, i believe. youre just off by a few. :)

  • @justin starbuck

  • bullshit. look up videos from 1993. half of em are murph

  • Justin is right. Murph left just before recording Without A Sound 1994

  • way to be wrong as shit. i feel like you should get some sort of award for being so far from having any idea what the fuck you're talking about

  • and I feel like you enjoy crappy music.

  • dinosaur jr: crappy music

thanks for your decisive verdict jdmusic07

  • You're welcome! Here is another one...

    snipersas: fan of crappy music

  • If Dinosaur Jr.'s crappy music, then I'm a fan of this shit! ;D

  • you're an AFI loving fag. tell me i'm right!

  • Just this total fucking liar who needs his youtube cred for some reason

  • I don't lie, I tell the truth. What is youtube cred? Did you make that up? Sounds silly.

  • yeah the new fall out boy record was awesome! you're a dick

  • Nah, I am sure the new fall out boy record is crap too. You're a (sarcastic) dick who likes bad music

  • I did a Biography based project for school, and I chose who but else J mascis. I am in 7th Grade

  • haha very nice. very nice

  • Best, Bio...Ever!... lol

  • Just saw these guys last night at 9:30 club in DC. Amazing show.

  • this isn't fucking David Letterman cock smoker.

  • lol

  • wow can he ever play the guitar

  • how can it be that they can still rock so hard after so long

  • All 80s rockers can still rock - alternative, pop, hair bands. He said they broke up in 89. That's sort of true, & not at the same time. J. Mascis continued Dinosaur Jr. with the guitar player. The drummer left. Then later J. got another new guitar player. Dinosaur Jr. OFFICIALLY stopped Dinosaur Jr. in 1997 after the album "Hand It Over." Everything after that were BBC re-releases or best of type CDs since J. Mascis started hi J. Mascis & The Fog band. Cool that the original 3 are back.

  • You are kinda right but you are just as wrong as Craig Ferguson. Dino never got another guitar player as J is the guitar player. J used to hate Lou Barlow, the bassist, and J told him and Murph, the drummer, that the band is over. Then a week or so later, J and Murph started the band again without Lou. Murph stayed with the band until around the time of Where you Been of 1993. J continued without both of them, like you said until 1997.

  • fool. j mascis is the guitar player.

  • Who the heck are you talking to SgtPeppers1? I know it's not me. I already knew that.

  • Yep - Less is more. These guys really nailed it on this one.

  • It's so fucking great to see just ONE effects pedal and it's barely even used. No theatrical bullshit, just fuckin' rock.

  • Have you ever seen J's pedalboard?

  • I know. ive seen him use like, every one.

  • awesome band

  • Yeah, these guys still rock after all these years.

  • I think it's cool there playing an older one.

  • Either I misheard but I'm sure that the presenter say's that they split in 1989!

    Anyway I love J's hair .

  • I think he was talking about the original line up.

  • I love the part where J's guitar falls out of tune, true grunge!

  • thats fucking good grunge

  • not grunge... grunge does not exist

  • Right . . Good Rock, is just Good Ol' Rock! :)

  • fucking insane! j mascis is fucking awesome i

  • J's guitar play is fucking genius.

  • This is not David Letterman
