i need some help with mine, i want to use the preamp stand alone, as i only have the preamp, but im not sure how to power it, what does the preamp require for voltage? is it 120 volts, im not sure at all.

I've never tried to remove the preamp from my machine, so I don't know what it uses for voltage. Try asking some other TEAC owners here on YouTube. Someone is bound to know the answer. Also Google "The Teac Place". They service these units and may have an answer for you. I can't put a URL in a comments box on YT.

I purchased the same model when I stationed at Bien Tuey army airfield in Cantoe Viet Nam in late summer or early fall of 1971.

Sad to say I have not used it in decades, I need to dig it out one day soon.

Ironically I helped a relative move in the mid seventies n was given a Wolensack similar to yours...

I got mine from Nam through the PX back in 1972. If you've left the machine alone for years, expect that the drive belt has turned to chewing gum. TEAC used crappy belts in the 1970's. But you can get real rubber replacements from The TEAC place, just search for that in Google.

Very nice deck. I did see that model at a flea market before, but the guy didn't really want to sell it, he would for $75, but also reel motor wouldn't turn. But I've gotta say, that's neat how you got the accessories and a stereo system I didn't even know you had!

Thanks! $75 is not a bad price, and I think you could get another reel motor form the TEAC source on the Web. How you'd change it out thought, now there's another problem.

What a superb Reel to Reel, and sounds great. I watched both videos, it's a nice demonstration of it. I wondered if it had 2 playback heads as it can play in reverse.  I'll be giving my Akai a tune up soon, so I'll probably post a video about it.

Thanks... the echo function caught me by surprise (it was stronger than I expected) but worked out okay.
