I do a sport called calisthenics you can start from the age of 3 which I did and you wear costumes and make up. My sport was compared to this and I'm here to say its nothing like this! This makes them photo shopped and makes them look 15 and 16 when ur 3 and doing calisthenics it doesn't make u look older it's just so people can see u and when ur little they don't give out medals it's just for fun so yeah
@bubblescankill I actually googled calisthenics when I saw your post since I wasn't familiar with it and I was pleasantly surprised! It seems much better than these pageants :).
I'm American and this embarrasses me and makes me sad. Please, if you are from another country, please do not let this represent "American culture" because many Americans disagree with these pageants.
@priscillajames hardly, Eden is not nearly as beautiful as JonBenet was. I don't think Eden is that pretty at all. There are plenty of girls on T and T that are more beautiful than she is, I really don't see what the big deal is about Eden.
I already accepted your culture. Don't always agree, but I accept. Waiting for America to accept, no wait, reconaize other cultures. America is no longer number 1 in the world and it's time for them to open their eyes and look at other countries and cultures. Most of which are doing so much better, especially economicly!
the only bad thing about pageants is the price i mean its quite alot of money but who cares. life is not about money. its about fun and wonderful experiences !
I think the very fact that society inundates women with messages that feminine worth equals appearance is exactly what makes it so disturbing; that pressure is starting earlier and earlier. Women need to maintain self worth and confidence despite expectations to live up to unrealistic standards of beauty. Children should be protected from that so they can develop confidence based on character and a healthy foundation of skills to deal with those messages later in life. Pageants undermine that.
I don't see the phenomenon of child pageants as more disturbing than any of the other societal messages which equate feminine worth with appearance. Should I have a daughter who earnestly wished to participate in such activities, I'd (grudgingly) support her, but I'd encourage her to work on being independent, smart, adventuresome and confident in addition to looking pretty.
At this age though, I was too busy playing make-believe with my imaginary race of lizard-demons to care about looks.
Jon Bent was not killed because she was in pageants. parents spend money on all sports has your kids progress in the sport.
FYI: i grow up with pageant and i still know many people in them they have never had all the problems people say pageant girls get t which isn't the case. I have never heard of people that gone on off the cliff because they were in pageants. These girls take the makeup off after its done and many go on 4wheelers after.
@xnicholasjerryjonas The rest of the world needs to accept American culture!??!?!? HAHAHAHHA, how about you accept others first. I see more American crap on my TV these days than Aussie shows. And when the Olympics were last on, my friend who was in America said that watching it over there, you wouldn't think any other country's were competing.
