Aaron how do you make your transmission to spin while engaging 2nd gear?

Mine does not do that probable because it locks or something.

One more question does it hurt transmission to switch between 1,2,3 and D?

@stenholm1212 I am using the stock 92 Maxima transmission RE4F04V with over 225K miles on it. It's still holding up pretty well to the abuse. It's pretty good considering I am doing 150 more wheel HP than stock. All I've done to the transmission to help increase it's life is increase line pressure with a valve body recalibration and a transmission cooler. I also have a high stall torque converter, but that doesn't increase the life span of a transmission.

Where did you learn how to increase line pressure and modify the valve body? Any recommendations on literature or whatever would be appreciated.

@chrisinator13 I'm shifting. Without a TCM, it will no longer shift by itself. I have since added a full standalone transmission control unit called the SSv4. The car will now shift itself going down the track as well as enable me to lock it any gear and shift manually as well. It comes in handy when making full dyno runs and doing my burnout.

@AFinRoo Yeah, the interior will be put back together one day. You can look at some of our other videos to see what the dash looks like now. It's a full race car which doubles as a daily driver. But it will be very nice once the interior looks stock.

No. It's no different than allowing the TCM to shift for you in Drive. All you are doing is changing the shift points. In this video, I still had the stock TCM in place. Now I run a full standalone transmission control unit and I shift up and down with a momentary-on switch. Similar to paddle shifters.

I only run the 1/4 mile with this car, so I don't know my 0-60 time. But it does the 60 foot in 1.8 seconds and the 1/8 mile in 7.8 seconds at 90 mph. By analyzing my 60', 330', and 660' times, I estimate my 0-60mph time to be 3.80 seconds. Within the next couple weeks though, I should be running high 11s in the 1/4 mile NA.

Nope. I completely went through this entire engine. The leak down test showed that the rings were in good shape. So, I just replaced the valve stem seals, headgasket, etc and put the engine back together.

With the 02 Maxima ECU and Tach signal, the stock 92 Maxima TCU was not able to shift by itself. So I had to manually shift in this video. I have since gotten a full standalone transmission computer that controls my shifts for me. Now I shift with a momentary on SPST switch. I use an automatic mode when at the track, though, so I can hang onto the steering wheel with both hands when launching.

There are a lot of the Sentra guys that have done the VQ35 swap. All of them that I know of use the Spec V's 6spd tranny internals with axles. They just swap the transmission casing in order to mate it to the VQ engine.
