A V8 Supercar has a gear box which makes it very hard to select reverse. The gear stick has to be lifted up pushed away from the driver and then to the right.
Sometimes it takes nearly a minute to select it.
Although, looking at the footage again, it looks like he just depressed the clutch and let it roll back.
haha, I'm in that vid, im the guy thats standing at the third coates sign!!! It was a really lame stack but still good it was caught on video. Geez it sounds awesome when it's reving....don't know why he didnt jus' flick spin though..did well to grab reverse in those gearboxes...
thats a typical Chris Aliganan Crash. That other dude who went straight through the trap was lucky not to collect anyone on the way out. But that was one of the best races ever on the Mountain

he must of bent somthing in the rear, and then boged it into the sand so he couldnt just flick spin it, was a good crash tho lol

It would have been a bit hard to not go backwards into someone elses path when you are bounced back by a tyre barrier.
