If you stand up just before carving you will do a more stable turn while lowering your body, ofc some teachers say that is not right but for me it is atleast more beatifull
@ArmyWithinMe: Thanks for the advice. NOTE: Please demonstrate with a video of your demonstration. No disrespect intended, but, I only take advice from proven technique.
The transition between turns is supposed to GENERATE speed, but in your case, your upper body remains too static, hence only MAINTAINING speed. Also, your hands are too far apart and you flare your poles out too wide for some reason. On the positive side, your shoulders are pretty level and you're able to angle your feet well. jmho
@OntariozBest Thanks for comments. Just as I ask everyone who comments... where can I see video of your skiing? No offense, but I've had PSIA instructors offer advice that is dead wrong and actually hampered my advancement. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing your video. -- Art
Flex the inside knee way more and bring the outside foot way behind the hip you look uncomfortable with the upper body and that might help you to not be as rigid.
@Crazeeskier2451 - Thank you Crazeeskier2451 for the helpful advice. Is there a video of your skiing so I can tell whether or not you are qualified to provide skiing advice? No offense intended... but I took lessons from so-called PSIA experts and racing coaches who absolutely put me in the wrong direction. I look forward to your video. -- Art
@arothafel I am a ski racer my self and have gone to several junior olympics and know how to carve and I can post a video response to this with some of my racing if you would like
@Crazeeskier2451 YES!! Absolutely! I'd love to see the racing videos. I raced Master's for a little and enjoyed it. But, at age 56 the thought of injury and the length of recovery lead to another path. To learn how to ski more proficiently. Nonetheless, I follow WC racing via Universal and always relate more to the racers than to any instructors. .... I look forward to your videos....
In this video the skis were Head SuperShapes (non race models). I also ski on Head IM78 Monsters (now called Peak 78) since they tend to carve really well almost anywhere.. even through crud. Ski selection is based on Harb recommendations. After all, he sees what I'm doing and is in the best position to recommend the right ski.. and, of course, he handles all boot fitting and alignment.
Wow I can tell Harald Harb is a great teacher! just watching his videos, i can see how he can mould skiers like you. How long have you been learning? thats pretty good
Thank you smicha7. I don't know what you mean by skitting or "no clear edges." And before I take your advice where can I find a video of your skiing. There's plenty of video of Harald Harb.... which is why I take lessons from his company.
hm, nice, but many skiers can better.

lean forward more, and dont bend over with your upper body, you will have more control and you wont kill your back while you ski

Keep your legs spread evenly. Your downhill leg is skitting - no clear edges. Lean forward.
