I'm going through the same thing. The day I graduated college was the day my wife told me that she was divorcing me and that she was having an affair with my friend. Right then I knew that my own selfishness came back to haunt me. I came back to Jesus. My wife and I are separated, but we remain friends and go to church together. She is still seeing my friend however and she thinks she may love him. I pray that Jesus will correct this situation. I believe in the end, God will be glorified. Amen.

In retrospect, God's timing was perfect. Only He can change a person's heart. Humanly speaking it is very hard (impossible) to continue loving someone who hates you, only through God working in you (Rom 5). (also see Col 3:16, Ps 50:15) I did everything I could possibly do to make myself appealing to my wife. I also was in constant prayer that God would continue to change me and that he would soften Lisa's heart and that the HS would convict her. Grace and Peace to you.
Though my heart change was sudden because of the Lord drawing me to Himself, causing my utterly corrupt and dead heart to be transformed and made alive, recovering love for Jon took time. I battled with fear and had a wall of protection that the Lord, in time, caused to fall down.
It didn't happen over night. But I deeply love Jon. He really is my hero of faith and the glory goes to God alone.
I love your story of restoration! God is so full of grace and forgiveness..... If you dont mind I plan to post this video on my blog site. God also restored our marriag. The world needs to know that he is God of the Impossible!

I would say that we both rest in God's perfect timing. It was a very difficult time. Very painful.
