  • This great song reminds me of my teenage years when I intensely listened to U2!

  • im so gona agree w/ lisa loves journey

  • When the fuck do you hear piano anymore?

  • My favorite song. EVER. Listened to more than 1000 times. Still can give me chills. U2 faded for me after this album....Auctung was good, but the sound was not the same. No piano, harmonica, edge guitar sounds, adams bass lines, and larrys heavy drums,cymbals...

  • If some U2 song sounds like 80's, then it's this one ... love it :)

  • ups...i thumbed down accidentaly...please spare me the negative comments :(

  • classic, epic , vintage U2 ....the best

  • ditto "tcsonline"...u2's best song ever.

  • My favorite U2 song. My favorite U2 album.

  • please rate my version on my channel:)

  • A haunting tune...

  • yeep right of course people go first than me of course i am u2 i love people and do it only for people -thats me loving people U2 guy please believe in me ...

  • I was 16 when this album came out in 1984 and i still have it in cassette! I was living in Oahu, Hawaii at the time and a lonely youth who knew no one... This haunting song seemed to echo my state of mind at that point of time in my mind. I love this song, yet it makes me melancholy because of the circumstance i was in when i first heard it. The song is a an old friend whose memory causes me pain and joy simuntaneously. It is a bittersweet song and memory! xD

  • @TakeMeBackTo1986

Iwas 18 and still one of my favorites I live in Iceland

  • unforgettable album

  • Fantastic song.

  • Thumbs up Classic U2 Forever

  • Eno produced this album to a "T". My favorite album but I don't listen to U2 much anymore.... it's great to revisit once in a while though.

  • ven y llevame lejos ven y llevame a casa

  • @mountemple76 no,no i love U2 u misunderstood me.i was commenting on larry at the start of the song when he clicks his drum sticks before the song begins.

  • This is U2's Abbey Road, they have never and cannot do this again

  • @tahoevic you didn't like joshua tree?

  • To this day, my favorite album. So atmospheric, so emotional, so gorgeous.

  • @NinjaBooKitty The atmosphere is from Brian Eno who produced the album.... look up some of his stuff and you will like that as well.

  • click,click,click....shit

  • Masterpiece!

  • ...memories of past times...

  • this has gotta be like the best song ever

  • even my wife likes this song, she kind hates U2........

  • My favourite U2 tune. Only New Year's Day comes close

  • This song is from I was very young and anything was possible.

  • One of the best albums that U2 has done IMO

  • Great fuckin' tune! What happened to U2 after this album? Really???

  • @tmoodyband They grew up.

  • @tmoodyband .. they hit their peek 3 years after this album.. This song however, is unbeatable.

  • ...my all time favorite U2 track...thank you Brian Eno!

  • I always think young u2 ate fish & chips standing on a street corner. The u2 of today eats in 5 star resturants or even have their own chefs. U can hear that difference in the music. Its no fault of their own

  • the castle on album cover always reminds me of castles u get in gold fish bowls

  • I'm only asking but I- think you knowwwww!!!!!!!

  • I fell in love with this when it was played on the original Live aid

just seem to fit the occasion

    superb

  • U2 é muito melhor do que possam imaginar..]

  • Muito massa.......

  • Oh God. Just listened to this. I want the good times of my youth back..

  • @THALIDO yes i knonw what you mean

  • I listened to this album to death when I was about 15, and through the years once in a while... In recent years I've started listening again and just the other day I got the full re-master in high quality FLAC audio and I'm rediscovering this album all over again.

What a truly epic album it is.

  • u2 ragged on themselves over this album..they said they sounded like amateurs... i read that in rolling stone in the late 80s...

  • @BeyondNeptune

I think more than 25 years later with enough distance between themselves and TUF they can now look at it as if it was done by someone else and probably see the qualities in it they didn't realize it had before... Perhaps thats why in the last couple of years they've started doing The Unforgettable Fire live again... They've rediscovered it themselves.

  • U2 Masterpiece!!!

  • this is proper u2 before they got showbiz, mint!!

  • @lisalovesjourney The showbiz shit, what`s up with that?, these guys need to rediscover their roots and get back to making outstanding stuff like this and the albums that came before.

  • @lisalovesjourney Absolutely; gives me goose bumps. A most excellent song.

  • @lisalovesjourney ....yes,not only is this my fav U2 album, but one of my fav all-time

  • @lisalovesjourney How many times should people argue so u all understand that they have never been into commercial music?

  • @lisalovesjourney So true !

The real U2 ended when they crossed the ocean.

  • moydrum castle...io c'ero 8/8/11

  • Fookin Fab! They were so pure yet raw then ..wikid!!

  • A guy beside me at Dublin's Croke Park sang it word for word with them - obviously a fan.

  • Probably the 'Joshua Tree 'but not sure.

Writing this only about two to three miles away from where the castle on the cover is located.

They did a great version of this on the 360 tour.

  • U2's best song ever..

  • @tcsonline i remember making out to this song in jr high.... ahhhh the memories lol

  • The best U2 album ever...Boy was good, too. Saw them in Ottawa 1984, Vancouver 2004.

  • This song is the best U2 tune forget about the radio trash this is pure class

But i say they were inspired by pink floyd almost as good but my fav tune is by the floyd take it back which i know they took the inspiresation from fucking hell im juiced but i love this song and it isnt on their greatest hits yet to me their best sing

  • WAR was their most and best successful

  • What an atmopshere this song has... unbelievable. U2 was the greatest band in the early 80s.

  • @ErnilEnNaur They are still great

  • Does anyone know which U2 album was the most commercially successful?

  • @mohinderbauer I'm pretty sure it's The Joshua Tree.

  • zero dislikes.....damn straight!!!

  • I like how they're tours are named after the names of their album's. Even though i dont think there was an "unforgettable fire" tour.. though i could be wrong! U2 is amazing. my younger sisters have no taste. they think Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Katy are the mesiah's of music. Too me, eveeryone is doing the same thing. doing the same old stupid easily written pop tunes. No ones goes deeper or outsied partying and love. No heartbreak or anger! It sickens me!

  • Just saw the 360 tour...not on the set-list. Very disappointed.

  • @ChachaChapati it was in the 360 tour Rose Bowl DVD.

  • @ledzep2rhyme the recent tour this summer. I saw the Rose Bowl concert on YouTube; wish I could have gone to that as I live right near there.

  • It's very sad that nowdays on radio we can hear just few their songs (One, With or without you, Beutiful Day, Where the Streets Have No Name) and maybe four others, but u2 have at least 50 other songs, which are truly amazing for my ears. The Unforgettable Fire is just one of them :))

  • 我喜欢!

  • First U2 song I ever heard when I was 5 years old..I still remember the first night I heard it x

  • You got to love this period of U2 just a totally new sound and underproduced which adds another element to it!

  • One of the greatest songs of the 1980s. Karl Vorderman, author of A Concise Guide To Eighties' Music.

  • that's a great song...instruments and vocals are perfectly done. guitar echoes so elegantly

  • This old stuff is still their best.

  • @MegaDarren1969 gotta say zoo tv for me mate

  • @batelo6917 mm yeah forgot that all good then!!

  • Jesus has this on his IPod.

  • @2IP1IS lol CLASSIC! :)

  • chris martin sent me here :)

  • @IXM360 I love the symmetry between U2 and Coldplay. It's like looking in a mirror.lol. I was delighted to discover that "Clocks" got it's piano riff from the opening guitar riff of this song!

My two favorite bands of all time! :)

  • This is one of U2's songs that sound better in the studio than LIVE, although cool to hear it at 360 tour

  • i love this song, and I love the only woman that it reminds me of. Gina, in Riobamba Ecuador, I miss you!!!!

  • their best work... highly spiritual....

  • i loved u2 when there was cassettes lol

  • @bertieblunt77 thats so true

  • A contender for best song Intro ever

  • awesome . the best band ever ! they improve with age.like dark beer.lol

  • i was gonna get this album, pink floyd final cut, and skynerds first album but the line at best buy was too long and i had a movie to catch.

  • This song is very artistic. And album too.

  • one of my favourite U2 albums .

  • My fav. era 1980-1985. It ends with this great record.

  • u2 Masterpiece and best song ever!

  • Comment removed

  • Hah... It's one of my favoirite songs.

  • One of my all time favs from U2. Propably in my U2 top 5!

  • No dislikes.. as it has to be.

  • SIMPLEMENTE, ¡MARAVILLOSOO!!!!

  • Like lots of U2 songs I can't believe how beautiful and epic sounding this song is.

  • adam's bass kicks butt on this whole album

  • lol, 5oulPower , no joshua tree !! pop your 2nd fave.

    what u smokin

  • @fmystar sorry I forgot to type The Joshua Tree my bad... XP

It would come right after Achtung Baby for me. Its one of my most favourite albums in my (large) album collection. :-)

And I mantain Pop was their second best. Then again U2 has fans for every era so maybe you have a different opinion.

  • My personal fav U2 albums in order: 1. All That You Cant Leave Behind 2. Pop 3. Achtung Baby 4. The Unforgettable Fire 5. October 6. No Line In The Horizon 7. Boy 8. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (so dissapointing for a U2 album. But still good. Just not great.) I did not include War and Rattle And Hum because I haven't yet listened to them. I dunno why I'm making this list... The comm box just looks so empty I suppose... XD
  • @5oulPower

and u havent included joshua tree, maybe their best one.what kind of a u2 fan are u?

  • @GSAXL oops sorry! I forgot to type Joshua Tree! My bad... XP

Joshua Tree would come after Achtung Baby for me. :-)

  • @5oulPower War is a great album, Rattle & Hum is OK

  • @mmkaviator I've since listened to War. Its fking amazing. Best album of the 80s!

  • Underrated album, with AMAZING SONGS ! Maybe " pride "is the worst on this album , though it s the most known...

  • For me, their very best. A creative breakthrough with all their young punch but without the excessive production and weaker lyrics of post Fire (stadium and anthem oriented) albums.

  • absolutely agree. head and shoulders above the rest. early stuff they were getting their "sea legs". Joshua Tree still good, but not as good as this. everything after Tree is just radio frapp to me. better than most of the slag on the box, but not epic. oh sure, an occasionaly great song burst thru, but not like this album where tune for tune is outstanding. just my .02 worth :-D

  • @txeire thank you for 2 cents- well spoken, and a shared opinion of many a fan of this early sound...

  • @txeire I agree this was their best stuff.

  • @txeire people say this because this is before U2 got huge. i still and always will love them.

  • @txeire shut your hole

  • @txeire I totally agree with you

  • @txeire my mum totally agrees she say's the popped up stuff is sell out and hates me playing it lol

  • The fact they played one of their own songs blew your mind?

  • Thank you for all of the great music. U2 keeps us thinking about the important issues in life. (Katalina Translates)

  • Thanks for the post. They play it on this tour, which blew my mind.
