THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU this kind of info is what we, performance chaser, like to see and share!!
This is the best proof you can take very easy. Today I received my new walbro gss342 and it has this shiny silver look and thin oil all over it.. now I can rest assure I really got an original (bougth it from a walbro aut dealer) as previous one does not goes beyond 50 psi at 10 psi on my turbo engine but unfortunately I had bought the first one over ebay (and not cheap). Again thank you.
Hi Miguel, no it wouldnt be a Walbro pump. Walbro pumps are not known for being quiet. They are actually nicknamed 'Whinebro' because they are loud and can make a whining noise. If yours sounds like the first one tested and is quieter than the stock pump, you have a fake Walbro.
I just got a walbro off of ebay for $88 shipped and trying to figure this out. if it kakes the popping kind of noises is it real? because i hear that the fake one just whines and the real one pops air
It definitely depends on the installation. I replaced my stocker with a 255hp. I doubled up on the rubber isolator and reused the "hockey puck" off the original pump and it's only slightly louder than the stock one, you really have to listen for it and I don't even have a radio in my car.
qmiler88, you're a dickhead. You dont have to see clearly to notice the difference, use your frikken ears. The real Walbro (shiny pump) makes the pumping sound and the fake sounds more like a motor in a cheap kids toy drill. The evidence is there whether you believe it or not. This video is out there to help people tell the difference. The fake had failed several times in this particular 4G63T powered car and as soon as it was replaced with a genuine Walbro there has never been a problem since.

that video proves nothing, you cannot see anything, I have a chinese pump and it works perfectly fine, it is quiter than the factory installed walboro. In fact it flows more and you cannot hear it whine one bit.

First = real Walbro.
Second = fake Walbro that sounds like a toy drill/ toy electric motor
Last = back to the real Walbro.
Real Walbros sound like they actually pump and easily identifiable by the pulsating noise they make.
