  • You can order Neoprene from Critical Coating or Chicago Latex , a Division of Spartan Adhesive. The first one has better prices. I am using rigid or semi-rigid formula.Important note: Liquide Neoprene can not be shipped during the winter months, if it is exposed to freezing temperatures it will perish.

  • Awwww i'll love to do tht...cuz i'm about to finish my degree in arts.....but i dunno were i can find tht latex neoprene...in wich store u buy tht.....or maybe online?....(i'm from Argentina) (sorry abt my bad english)!!!1 U work is so great!! thanks for share it! ;)

  • it kinda creeps me outll..

  • Thank you so much for sharing that! It is very difficult to find mask making teachers here in Montreal and I am interested in learning more techniques and options...

  • These are insanely beautiful and you are such a talented sculptor! Are these not good for people with a latex allergy?

  • @SassyNpinkable Masks are made of Latex Neoprene.

  • @JoannnaMozdzen awwwwwww =( Still beautiful just the same!

  • Hi Joanne ~ I cannot find your Etsy store .... creativeheartart I found your reply to a YT cusatomer on another video. Please reply. Thank you. =)

  • I cannot believe this artist has NO contact information to purchase her masks ???? Where are you?

  • WOW ... sooooo life-like awesome !!!! =)

  • my gawd that is awesome

  • Do you use a release agent on the plaster before you pour the neoprene?

I've never used neoprene before and it seems like a very good solution for what I am looking for. Your sculpture and other work is fantastic, thank you.

  • @kevinkauffmanpottery No, I do not use any release agents.

  • absolutely amazing! the final result seems alive and so perfect. I love it!!!

  • how much does finished masks cost?

  • WOW

  • how do you put it on your face??? I mean did you attach a string to it??? please reply!! this is sooo awesome!!! X3 X3

  • could someone explain how to keep the mask from getting stuck in the plaster?

  • @TheSKYizFalling I am just guessing that you are trying to preserve your original sculpture (mask) after making the plaster mold. If you watch my video very closely you will see that my original is already broken. Very often I have to destroy my clay sculpture completely. I have to scoop out clay from the plaster mold with the wire loop tool.

Do not try to preserve your clay sculpture. The plaster mold is the most important part that you will use to create neoprene mask.

  • @JoannnaMozdzen thank-you for responding and you guessed correctly I was trying to make copies of my work while keeping the orignal. I appreciate the advise.

  • I am using semi-rigid formula

  • What kind of Neoprene are you using?

  • wow!!!!!!!

  • Hello, can you help me please. I created a sculpture, placed it in a container and poured in plaster of paris, after it cured I had to break the mold in order to get my original- which defeated the whole purpose. How did you get your sculpture out without it being stuck in the mold?

  • PERFECT !

  • Hi,

This was really nice, and thanks for the video.

Could you do a tutorial on how to make Comedy/Tragedy masks in either papier maché or neoprene? I would really appreciate it.

    Sincerely Lrrrrrrrr from Sweden :D

  • Creepy. :O

  • this is so scary and awesome at the same time! i would love to make one but i think its way to complex...good job :D

  • What kind of plaster and neoprene do you use? Do you order it online? I've created a mask sculpture and plan on creating a plaster mold, but I'm not sure what the right materials to order are.

  • @sketcherstud You can order Neoprene from Critical Coating or Chicago Latex , a Division of Spartan Adhesive. The first one has better prices. I am using rigid or semi-rigid formula.Important note: Liquide Neoprene can not be shipped during the winter months, if it is exposed to freezing temperatures it will perish.

  • @sketcherstud For mold making I use Hydrostone for the detail coat and Gauging Plaster for the second coat but if you are going to duplicate your mask only couple of times , the cheap gauging plaster from building supplier wil be good enough.

  • I agree, this is a pretty good tutorial, although I'd be interested to know..

    1) If you could use resin instead of neoprene, simply to make a much harder/stiffer mask

    2) How tough the neoprene is once it dries and is fully cured

    3) How you would make a ventian-styled "Trifaccia" mask (where the entire thing is one whole piece, but three faces).

Not really sure if the poster could answer those, but they're questions I have regarding mask making and am having a hard time answering.

  • @EnragedAura Neoprene is very strong and durable. It has been used by professional mask makers for many years . Some of my masks are used by kids in schools. They go through a lot of abuse but beside some scratches they are still good.

I never use resin and I do not recommend it for mask making.

The technique I show on you tube can only be used with neoprene.

  • @JoannnaMozdzen Ah, alright, thank you. That's good to know.

What kind of clay did you sculpt your face from? It looks sort of like Super Firm Sculpey.

  • @EnragedAura I am using water based clay.

  • @JoannnaMozdzen Would Sculpey work for the clay, or does it have to be water-based?

  • @sketcherstud You can use Sculpey, Klean Klay , oil- based or water- based clay .

  • @JoannnaMozdzen Oh, I was also wondering: Can you reuse the mold you make?

  • @EnragedAura Yes, you can reuse the mold but it has to be dry .

  • Best mask tutorial I've seen yet.
