@alvinaileypro I have to agree with @1968Chronos, This was very basic. Good, no doubt about it, but very basic. Not something I would have voted for on SYTYCD. Dancing with the stars does better than this.

Very disappointing. There was no basic cha cha cha steps other than in their promenade toward the end. This dance was stripped off the trademark steps that make a cha cha cha so peculiar and fun to dance.

@1969Chronos I have dancing classes and honestly this is a very good cha cha cha routine , I think they're both great in it , and yes there were many basic cha cha cha steps , but they were incorporaded in other steps to make the dance more interesting

@MissWatson4 I respect your opinion but I disagree. I watched the video again and yet I didn't see any cha cha technique at all. For comparisons, check out any cha cha routine of a ballroom dance competition. The dancers' steps mark the cha cha syncopation while still doing choreographic figures.

@alvinaileypro Just search Latin ballroom competitions right here on Youtube and see how professional dancers do it. Mandy and Alistair remain too static during the body of the choreography in this video. Instead of relying too much on body contortions and wiggles (called body rolls in dancing), professional ballroom dancers would have truly marked the rhythm of the Latin style and performed more dynamic (fast-slow or slow-fast) sharp moves.

This new stage could use some levels like the old setup. I'm glad they decided to change it up but keeping the levels would have been smarter so that dancers and choreographers have more choreographic options.

I adore Carmen as a dancer, but she has proven herself to be the Dr. Kervorkian of this show, ya? Two weeks in a row her charges have ended up in the bottom two. I pray that Alaster never pulls one of her routines again! But on a serious note, Im surprised that Carmen's routines have been so flat; they need Jason Gilkison to help out for a bit. Choreographing for the show takes a certain finesse and neither she nor many of the other choreographers have shown that they are up to the task.

Totally agree with you there ! I have noticed that usually its all these amazing technical dancers who make the worse choreographers! Due perhaps to their mentality that a routine they would do would be too advanced for anyone else to grasp...because having seen some of Carmen's routines of HER dancing...they were spectacular...

The thought that either Alistair or Mandy could have gone home yesterday due to purely the genre of dance they picked absolutely horrifies me!!

I agree. I think another reason is that the choreographers don't bother adapting their choreography to the style/individuality of the dancers they are working with

When they were in the bottom four I was devastated...but when BOTH of them stayed I was absolutely ecstatic! because I wouldn't want them to be with anyone else! :)
