I'm curious about the damn background music. Why that? That wasn't even the kind of music playing in Lovecraft's time. Rather, cliche and misleading, methinks.
Lovecraft was amongst the many horror writers that I read when in my teens. I loved his flowery writing style then, and still do to this day. As a writer of this genre myself, for pleasure only, I too use the adjective copiously to embellish my writing ideas, though this isn't the modern way. I find most modern writers have become far too economic with words for the sake of publishing brevity; and thus we have lost the richness of description that comes from such a literary style.
@oldproji It is only recently that I have attempted to write in such as a style as Lovecraft's, and I completely agree with you about the lack of rich and true description.
I've been waiting to see what these guys had to say, thanks for posting! Admittedly not much new here in terms of info, but it's interesting to hear what these figures think of Lovecraft, and it's good to keep his name out there.
I have no problem with Lovecrafts sensible racial views...

@oldproji yea, i actually like his purple prose style. it had finesse. Lovecraft made it that way on purpose, and did it right.
