Yeah you CAN AWD drift like Ken Block, but Ken Block's STI's had 600hp and probably 100+ thousand dollars in the drivetrain alone. Cheaper and easier to RWD convert a WRX. but thats not all you need to do to make it a viable drift car. Coilovers, better swaybars, proper tyres and pressures, atleast 200kw, stronger gearbox (preferrably straightcut dogbox with a short shift), hydro handbrake, R34 GTR rear diff and inner shafts with custom axles...the list goes on

i think thats just a dccd usage, they have that at '05s. u can see the front's pull at 0:06 :P

That is a RWD converted Subaru... You can tell cuz only the rear tire was smoking, and plus I have a buddy that has one. What he did was that he disconnected the front differential to make it RWD so he can keep up with RWD at events. You can drift AWD also, but the window for drifting is shortened because you are regaining traction with your front tires.

taking out only the front diff and not modifying the centre will basically make you loose half your power, i wonder why would your buddy do that

How do you figure that he will only get half the power? He will recieve more drivetrain loss than a car that was designed for RWD but he will not lose anywhere near half....

As for the AWD vs RWD debate, anyone who thinks that car is still AWD knows nothing of cars... It is absolutely obvious that it's a RWD car.

your buddy had what? you can't simply disconnect the front diff on a STi. or most any other AWD car since the front diff is built into the tranny.

DCCD set to full open gives it like 80-85% RWD

you should search "Ken Block" and see how his AWD STi drifts, and you can actually see smoke off his front tires as well

DCCD set to full open (all the way to the back) does NOT give you 80-85% RWD. This is a misconception a lot of owners think is true. It's more towards the 35/65 ratio.

By the sound of his accelerometer, he must have uploaded some pretty make shift pr2x, which is a pretty tough thing to do. I use pr3x, which is much less sticky.

Yeah, it's AWD you can drift AWD cars, but I have heard that it's harder then drifting rear driver cars.

Turbos are a bolt on.

A non bolt on = built bottom end, pistons, springs, lifters, cams. Anything external is classed as a bolt on.
