Good grief what a great song. I hadn't heard a new Indigo Girls album in years, bought tickets to see them this weekend on a whim, and am finding out I like the stuff from their last couple albums better than the stuff I liked a lot in the '90s.
the song is great- but the cartoon thing throws me a bit - I like the footage parts tho- there is something so powerful in their mastery of their instruments
The Indigos really seemed to hit a new audience with this little "rocker-fella". What a hot duet tween Amy Ray and Pink. I wish they'd done much more together. And I also wish there were more competent female contralto singers out there. I loved Alison Moyet with Yaz(oo) back in the early 1980s. Today, nobody else on the rock scene beats Pink's powerful, yet extremely delicate voice. And here it just harmonizes perfectly with Amy Ray.
Well, I'm no musical expert, so I was merely referring to the 'fact' that her voice is described as such in the WikiPedia biography on her. But you're right: There isn't any common agreement on what type of vocalist she is. Basically, I guess it doesn't make as much sense to label rock singers' (impure) voices in the same way as opera singers? But which voice would you consider her to be?
melnea22-this song is about Amy's love for punk rock and trying to stay true to yourself and your inspirations when everyone in the industry is trying to pull you apart...not every song the girls write is about "loving and living" lol
I love the message. it's not about loving and living 'the godly way' or individual differences. It about differences as a whole, people of all types and beliefs comeing together by not drawing lines and walls within ourselves. In the end we all go to the same place.

P!nk has a huge range. I'm not sure I'd consider her a contralto, but, yes, she rocks this song.

Great song, kinda lame video. Sorry, Amy and Emily, but how 'bout something with Pink doing the back-ups and no goofy cut-out dolls?!
