@TheArwen2010 They're at work... the USC band is disliked by many, and when they're wearing uniforms, people forget that they're just college kids. At almost every game or major event, fans of other teams hassle band members and try to steal helmets and pieces of instruments. The people next to the band are keeping an eye out.

I have no idea what Spirit Leaders are (male cheerleaders a.k.a. "yell kings?"). But, the band, as a whole, is still the best on the West Coast. Bravo! :-)

I would also expect a band that calls itself the "Greatest Marching Band in the Universe" would take a little more care with its lines and its marching.  They just look lazy. Also I agree with patrickjohn, the LA bands need to learn new songs, UCLA and USC play the same three songs over and over.

It matters that they're out of line, what nitpicking, they absoutley rock, and they represent the best College Football program in the country. Can we say three Heismans , can we say 3 championships, can we say Pete Carroll, 89 and 6 in a 9 year college coaching stint?.....does any band or any university come close ? POWERFUL! I dig college marching bands. Big numbers and sound. What is even more fun are the fans that go ga-ga over their fav. It is tough to fairly pick "the best". The Sudler Trophy picks the best college band of the year. However, it would be interesting to see and hear an all college marching band competition broken down by division, then those winners battle it out for the top spot. Literally "March Madness"(don't steal my idea) for marching bands. What do you fellow bandfans think?

The fact that "othr skools" showboat and act with poor sportsmanship doesn't give anyone a license to do so.

The NCAA laid out specific rules governing sportsmanship and behavior at games. If players don't want to follow them, that's their choice, but they shouldn't be surprised when the ref throws the flag.

I'm not being bitter about the Illini losing, but I was absolutely disgusted at the poor sportsmanship that was rampant at that game.

I've been looking for a video of it, but I haven't been able to find it yet. I know it wasn't caught on TV, because very few of the commentators were sure why the player got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. And as for blaming it on us, not everything can be our fault. We're responsible for our own actions, but we can't also be made responsible for the actions of the opposing team.

Continued, b/c I ran out of characters: In my opinion, it mostly had to do with the fact that there were four and a half minutes left in the game and Benn (I think that was his name) knew the touchdown he'd just made didn't matter (that TD brought the score up to 49-17). I would blame it on frustration rather than the TMB.

People don't critisize their alignment , marching in perfect alignment is hard enough , I would know i'm in JROTC , now playing and instrument and getting every note right on que makes marching and watching your covering hard enough.

Thanks for the post. It brings a tear to my eye everytime I watch it. I have been a band fan since 1981 when I married a USC alum. Our son is at SC now, so we relive the glory with him. Who DOES like the "Spirit Leaders" - they won't last long. FIGHT ON!
