  • one of the funniest movies ever. and a good song. very 80s.

  • He always was the best at getting meaningful lyrics to fit perfectly into any song

  • For some odd reason this song reminds me of actress Sofia Vergara, I think it has something to do with her being in the Modern Family

  • This is a great song and IMO one of his best songs he's ever done in his career, you seldom hear this song on the radio

  • Billy hit #10 in Billboard, 7-26-86. God bless ya, jtee, for postin' it. Thanx! Shalom, Billy.

  • great tune

  • hahah I was listening to a Youtube playlist of Billy, and I thought this was Huey Lewis untill i looked at the title hahaha

  • I love this song and of course I love the movie too. This film was way underrated.Looking at comedy films these days make me feel really bored because they are stupid. Not all but most of them are.Ruthless People is so hilarious!A true 80's comedy.

  • I've heard that Billy Joel doesn't care too much for this song. While I admit that its no Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, I think it's awesome! Love the movie too.

  • "Well Ralph, Debbie can't come to the phone right now, my dick's in her mouth. How about I have you call her back when I'm done?"

    I love Danny Devito!

  • @zytxuy That's hilarious! Great thing about youtube is this kinda uncensored shit! I love this song, I remember learning it in guitar class in 80's! best decade for rock, w 70s and 60s following suit!

  • There was no official video released for this song.

This is a difficult song to track down. To the best of my knowledge, it is only available on the Ruthless People soundtrack and vinyl 45. Difficult to believe since this song went to # 10 on the Billboard singles chart for the week ending 7/26/86.

  • @80sEric It's on my "The Bridge" CD.

  • @80sEric it's on my the bridge album

  • Where's the video for this tune? I'd like to see it.

  • This is definately my favorite song by Billy Joel. Thanks for posting!

  • "who said anything about the rolex? they didnt mention the rolex"

    "THEY WANT THE ROLEX!"

    lol

danny Devito got pwned by her.

  • "Muffy, You've taken your last piss on my carpet"

  • Columbia Records had several of their artists contribute tracks to the Ruthless People soundtrack. Mick Jagger did the title track, Bruce Springsteen contributed a song called "Stand On It." This was Billy Joel's contribution.

  • Love this movie and Billy Joel's modern woman soundtrack is just legendary.

  • 0:23 "Either the chief of police is a complete idiot, and complete idiots are very rare..." (looks at Bill Pullman)

  • Great movie and song.

  • I Love This Billy Joel 1986 Hit, "Modern Woman," Which Became A Top 10 Hit In America.

  • Hit #7 AC, #10 pop, #34 rock in Billboard. God bless!

  • This song was the bomb back in the day. I just love it still. Great beat! One that just sticks with you and plays all day in your head.

  • Loved Bette Midler in this movie! Thanks for posting.

  • mikesthecat, you're right 'bout it bein' a big hit. Made #10 in Billboard.

  • Lurve this song. So 80's!!!!!!!!

One question????? What does he mean after 1986 what else could we do? (Assumes he means men!) What happened in 1986? Maggie T was voted in in 1979 - can't think f any other modern woman thing that he may mean.....

  • Love this movie!

  • amazing song!

  • I have an original version of this song from the Billy Joel retold volume one album. The version I have is a studio version, he talks to someone at the end of the song, but the music in the original is so much better!!

  • HOLY SHIT!!!! Just check out Bill Pullman!!!!!

  • Maby shes the quiet type who's into heavy metal - lol sounds like my friend

  • THIS MOVIE WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!

And I don't normally like movies that don't have fantasy elements in them.......

  • Top movie Top song

  • "The bitch blabbed". The best line!!!!

  • is that in the song or the movie?

  • quality movie!!!

  • yes!I know of the end credits!

  • I saw RUTHLESS PEOPLE but i dont remember this song-Billy is SO good!

  • They have the intro music of it playing but stop before the vocal starts when Bette Midler's character is chained up in the basement and starts exercising and it's played again at the very end of the film once the credits roll.

  • benlevine, he IS Bill Pullman!

In one of his early roles.

  • Blonde guy looks like Bill Pullman.

  • i watched this 2 nights ago and fell in love with the plot and the blond haired guy!!!!

  • Great film and totally under rated. Nobody seems to know about it. :>

    great films.

  • Great song and movie!

  • i LOV THIS SONG!!!!

  • its the only old Joel song I'm not sick of!

  • You're sick of THAT many classics songs? This song is fairly new by Joel's productivity standards.

  • I'm just burnt out on most of his other stuff like Piano Man and Always a Woman

  • There's a lot more on those classic albums than the hits.

  • You are so right! Plus there are albums that he never released, like the retold albums, that can be found sometimes that have great songs on them!!

  • yeah it is fairly new but not many people know this song unless you listen to Billy Joel alot. I have never once heard this song on the radio. But it is a great song!!

  • It was a HUGE hit on the radio in '86, as I recall, when the movie Ruthless People came out.

  • @coondiddims I never have but i've uploaded it on my ipod and it sounds just as great.
