I am an E-5 In the U.S Army Mos 31B, I am currently 22 years old but will turn 23 this upcoming August. I was an AP A high school student with plenty of extracurricular activities such as NHS, Student Council, Track and Field, Soccer, Band, Drama, and pretty much any other club in school. I graduated 10% with a 94.7 GPA in my graduating class. My question, is there a chance for me to get some type of waiver in order for me to get accepted at West Point?!

No you cannot join, you have to be under 23 before the start of your freshman year.

This is actually quite good and very representative of what I've seen of cadet life. Almost all cadets are inducted as a 2nd Lieutenant, a few can be 1st Lt (so my son tells me). There are about 60 students at West Point each year from other countries and they wear their country's uniform. There are also "exchange" cadets from the other academies, who are there for a semester, not the full term of training/education.

@BYOB561 It's a college. You have to apply, sort of like a normal university (sort of), during your junior and senior years of high school. It is very selective, and all 3 of the service academies are probably among the top 10 schools in the U.S.

They look at every single score, not just SATs. I used to want to go, but then I realized I would be in a military style college, for four years, so I decided to go ROTC, which is still pretty awesome.

You should take JROTC when your in high school and tell your SAI and AI what you are trying to do with your future. They will guide you in the right direction. Good luck.

@TheSuperRedTiger and get congressional or vicepresidential or presidential approval and beat out over 10,000 applicants - not including applicants from the military and have a perfect clean record and be a part of a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and its highly recommended that your bi-lingual as well. :) and thats just the "easy" part - staying in is the hard part.

phyiscal test is nothing, they usually get a local guy who went to west point to administer it, you dont have to get perfect in everything

I had okay grades, 3.4 gpa sometimes it was out of 5 though and my ranking was barely top 50% in my class, took a few A.P. courses, what got me in was my ACT score which was a 33 and I'm an athlete

Yeah, make sure you apply for a nomination from both a senator and a congressman, don't just do one or the other. I don't know what you are an athlete in so do whatever you can to get ur recuitment stock up. Pass everything your senior year. I had a friend that was sent home from training because he had senioritis and failed 2 classes he didn't even need to graduate, etc etc bro haha.

you have to apply for the schools. the higher the class you are, and the better your class ranking, the better the chance that you will get in. im pretty sure that your summer is divided into 3 blocks, and you have to train for atleast two of them. i have a friend at West Point, and I myself have already started the application proccess. ive been wanting to go there most of my life. i actually just got accepted to a summer program that you can attend after your junior year of high school.
