Please stop negativism about this world (in)famous city, there's no denying it that Pattaya is one of the greatest places (if not the greatest) on the freaking planet to spend a lovely beach holiday. Yes, there are dangers of STDs, but come on! not any one who travels to Pattaya is seeking for sex! prostitution is omnipresent in any country, they don't have to pay lots of money to travel far from home. What makes this city so popular is its unparalleled atmosphere, not abundance of prostitutes.

If u'd ever been there (i assume that u were) you could see all sorts of people there-from families with little children (walking in the Walking street during the night time) and also people that u characterize as being scumbags. It's a massive tourist destination and with that comes everything bad (or good) that u mentioned. I guess nobody would say that Frankfurt (having Kaiserstraße) or Amsterdam with the red light district that are shit holes...

@calamari46 Sky tv in the UK did a programme on Pattaya they had cameras following the Tourist Police it showed what they had to deal with scumbags like arsompa involved in drugs,drunks,fighting, robbing abusing the bar girls, you only have to view the various sites on you tube to see the shit hole that it is to say otherwise inspite of the facts is misleading. There are signs outside clinics stating screening for STD's and AIDS there everywhere that speaks for itself
