As another Simi person, we're not stuck up. We're just taught that talking while setting drill, walking instead of marching, and playing when not specifically told to play is unacceptable. I don't know how other directors teach their schools, but this was just what we're used to. So to us, it came across as quite annoying after a few years of strictness. I did like the Arizona and Georgia bands, though, they were quite nice and didn't use flipbooks... another thing we are taught to frown upon.

it's cause they had no discipline during practices. I mean, that's how some bands do it and i'm fine with that, but it's not really acceptable in our band, so we tend to see that as a bad thing.

Hey another Simi member, again yes our band director is strict, and yes he yelled at other drumlines, it was in his jurisdiction, all th band directors were told to help out, and he did it the way he did, it is what he does, as for the band members being rude, i don't know of any. Maybe it's possible that people are exagerrating a little? It doesn't matter know though, it's over and we all had a blast, so let us all think of the positives

Yeah, alot of my friends said that Simi was pretty stuck up. i never really got the chance to talk to them, but maybe it's cause their director is really strict maybe? idk. I remember during rehearsals that their director yelled at his drumline to stop playing. It was so scary. :(

I'm in Simi's band, and I can honestly say we're not stuck up. I understand that anyone would say this in defense, but honestly, we're a very sarcastic band overall. Chances are what people saw as arrogance was just us having a dry sense of humor :P We really liked the other bands (though admittedly most seemed to have less discipline.)
