i have found the answer of why gauntlet legends and dark legacy mame running slow.you gonna need a powerful graphic card and processor to play this game smoothly.well not fully 100% smooth.previous processor was intel core 2 quad 2.66ghz.now with my pc upgrade im now running intel core i7-2600k sandy bridge 3.40ghz [3.80ghz turbo boost] quad core processor with ht tech.and video card is pny nvidia geforce gtx 460.plan on upgrading my graphic card soon.

I haven't seen or played the game in long time now. So I can't be 100% sure if my name appears in the opening credits or not (doubtful though). I do know for a fact it's in the ending credits though as Steve "Aries" Patton. My fellow team members used to joke about how much I looked just like the actor that played the god Aries (Kevin Smith) in the TV series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys", so the nickname sort of stuck which is why it ended up in the credits. :)
Sure wish someone would do a youtube vid of the end game credits for the arcade version. I was on the team that developed the game and have long since wanted to show my friends the proof. :) I've tried to get MAME to run it, but I don't appear to have the correct files.
@Koin0p That's very interesting, you're not in the opening credits are you? I have a faster computer now that runs it at a much better speed... the sound is still off but it's running much smoother.

The emulation is perfect what better do you want? everything runs faster running less so less sound would help but the sound is not the problem the problem is the skipping of the game and it not being able to keep up in real time or if your frame skipping the frame skipping being too much to keep it going smoothly ... you need more computing power behind it I suspect that is all.
@Fancy93pants Do you know a good place to get CHD files for this game since the ones I had have been lost? Also I notice you having control issue well I find using a Keyboard just sucks and when it comes to using controllers in MAME I prefer USB controller converters that allow game console controllers (like SNES) to be used on PC/MAC I found mine at the Retrozone website and yes they take international orders too and you don't need drivers for the USB adapters ether.

According to MAMEDEV, here are the ingredients for the best MAME experience:
*The fastest Core 2 Duo (preferably Wolfdale-based) you can afford and overclock it
*At least 4 GB of RAM
*A 64-bit OS, be it Vista, Win7, or Linux
*A good DX9-capable card w/ at least 256MB of onboard RAM
*64-bit build of MAME
Forget "But can it run Crysis?" In MAME-ville, it's "But can it run NFL Blitz at 60 FPS?"

Yeah, sorry about not mentioning this, but this is just a demo of how an average PC runs this game.
I have not heard of anyone that has been able to emulate this game at 100% or even close to that on MAME.
I hope the future will hold better developments but as for now I feel nothing is going to happen. :(
