Stabbing Westward prepared me for the loneliness and heartache that I'm now living with, before I even entered my relationship with her. Thank you, SW. I saw a part of me I never knew was there through your music. Good luck with the future.
@MrCrazy1776 I made an mp3 file then used Audacity to edit it, and saved it to like 60kbps or some low quality format to keep the 30 seconds under the 300kb limit then I just hooked my phone up and transferred it (I have an LG android so I just had to hook it up using the USB cable) and then it showed up in my ring tone options
I remember me and my friends walking to the store to buy the cassette tape when the second album came out. My car just died and so I'm using a shitbox that has only a tape deck and dug it out! So many of my cds have been stolen or broken, seems like all the good ones!
After listening to both the original and the remix, I can say in my opinion the remix is better. I'm short on patience and won't wait two minutes for a song to pick up the pace. Hell, most days I won't wait more than 10 seconds.
Haha I listened to the section from 2:13 to 2:52 hundreds of times after my first girlfriend cheated on me and dumped me. That was probably not the therapy I needed :)
I remember blasting Stabbing Westward music back in the 90's on the way to my classes in college. The music had a unique sound, was great stuff. Don't know why they never really got off the runway like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam etc. Too bad, the few songs that made it big really rocked.
Stabbing Westward has always been one of those under-rated or unknown bands; I've only met a couple of people who have heard of them. It's a really a shame as they were excellent.
I have to say that following this band as they were releasing this work was a real treat. The way their sound evolved from wall of noise into complete artistry was very enjoyable. I really wish they could have stayed together and kept writing music. I really miss the whole Industrial Scene, it just isn't the same anymore. It's gone all pussified emo. ATTN STABBING WESTWARD MEMBERS: Get back together and release a new album please. KTHXBAI
I agree with you 100%. "Blister, Wither, Burn & Peel" & the self-titled album were ok. "Ungod" was phenomenal, and "Darkest Days" was really depressing. Christopher Hall's awesome voice is wasted in The Dreaming. When I heard about the band, I was excited. When I heard the band, I was extremely disappointed & almost cried.
I got this cd and didnt listen to it for a year .Littlle did I know that this would be one of my favroite cds ever...brings back playing crazy taxi and jammin to this
I got this album as a graduation present. After that - it was my favorite album (along with Gravity Kill's self-titled). There is an epic video for "You Complete Me" done to clips of Final Fantasy X. I remember listening to this album while playing Final Fantasy 7. Great memories of this album despite it being an extremely depressing compilation of tracks.
@TheTortugaTanker I think I first heard this album when I was 14, my friend and I were playing through Final Fantasy VIII together. I can't listen to or think about this album without thinking about that game or my best friend.
Depressing, but these songs bring out good memories for me as well.
When I was in HS, they came out with their first album "Blister, Wither, Burn & Peel" with the songs "Shame" & "What do I have to do?" on it. The radio played the songs over & over ... I still never got enough of them. Today, I have just about every song available by them & by others who have remixed the songs as tributes. I can only hope that no one defiles their music by doing an emo cover ...
Yeah, i know i shouldnt bring up were in this together now, trendy for them but nevertheless one of my favorites, too uplifting for nin, but i love it
Stabbing Westward is one of the greatest band ever to break up. They were doomed from the start as they were constantly, and unfairly compared to Nine Inch Nails on the basis that the genre that they excelled at was industrial rock. So, I've got to ask, why did Pearl Jam succeed in the wake of Nirvana, as they're both grunge bands? Personally, I think Stabbing Westward is superior to Nine Inch Nails. Especially lyrics and the fact that the band was a sterling example of the human condition.
@iamspider Honestly no offense intended, stabbing westward was one of my favorite bands, but nin put out alot of unlistenable ccrap but the good songs they put out as you say cant be compared to sw, trent is out of their league, but they are an awsome band
I do enjoy this song despite its sad inflections. I'm currently in some weird situation with this amazing girl, and well this song just kind of emphasizes what I kinda feel and do when her and I are together. Memorizing her eyes and the way she looks into mine, the way she looks in the morning when she's still sleeping, and the way our bodies get intertwined as we lay down to sleep... I can really dig this song.
I may not be the first to say this, but this song captures my exact feelings I had for my girlfriend who died back in 08' from a drug-induced coma..I remember noticing all the things he sings about in this song...the way light would shine on her, the color of her beautiful blue eyes, the way she combed her hair...I miss you Cari-Love D.L.
I don't think there's a single song I've ever heard in my life that's completely captured the essence of loss. If songs were tangible objects, I bet you could squeeze the pain right out of this.
@GrendelNin... thanks for posting both versions... I can't decide which I like better... so thanks for providing the dilemma! If you find the acoustic, please share... I've never heard it but I'd love to.
Great song! Great video! Watching the lyrics without distraction allows the listener to fully absorb the song. That's always been my opinion, and I can tell it's yours as well. Hatred runs through me marrow deep
I long to tear your eyes out in your sleep
This passion can lead to evil crimes
Do I kill you or do I choose to die?
Acid burn etched in my brain
Someone dies before I go insane
I was searching for some answer in your eyes
I find malicious laughter and a love that has died
-"Lies" from the album "Ungod"
