The degree to which the dogs suffer, is relative to the amount of money their owner possesses. Thats why the government cracks down on the "BIG TIME" fighters. Because those dogs suffer horrendously. The common $1000 winners, don't even feel anything. So the government doesn't have to spend sleepless, empathetic nights worrying about them. But its good to know they truly care about the suffering ones. Right after rescuing them, they'll see about the old man getting beat by a bunch of cops

@Chuichupachichi The fact that police brutality exists has nothing to do with dog fighting. Most of your comments do not follow any clear line of reasoning. Police try to stop dog fighting at all levels, but it is impossible to stop it entirely when people are ignorant and have no feeling for animals. Small time dog fighters are just as abusive as "rich" ones. The reason they made a big deal about Vick was because he didn't need to fight dogs for any reason not financially or for status.

@Chuichupachichi The bottom line is the authorities wanted to make an example out of him, to say that it doesn't matter who you are even if you're Michael Vick you will pay for your illegal and inhumane behavior. I think Vick should still be in jail. The fact that he was the highest paid player in the NFL at that time should have been enough for him to not fight dogs. Vick isn't a street thug, he is a college graduate and is supposed to be a role model for kids. Vick sucks ass!!!
