At that time he boxed and defeated three-time champion British boxer Gary Elms in the 1958 HK Inter-School amateur Boxing Championships using a mixture of boxing and Wing Chun. You are correct saying Bruce never competed in champion martial arts contests though.

I did some research and all i found were Bruce Lee GOOGLE fan sites, these Google fans sites love discomforting fighters like Norris, Lewis, Wall etc. I would love to see some real true documented sources from true revisionist historians on such allegation.

All my knowledge of Bruce are from martial arts magazines: "Inside Kung-Fu", "Black Belt", etc. I mean the print copies (that's all we had back in the 1970's...lol. I still have some of them today. My other source regarding Bruce is the biography : Bruce Lee: The Man Only I Knew written by his widow written in 1975, 2 years after Bruces's death. All I read were in agreement of the facts. next comment

There was a incident in 1972 on the set of "Enter the Dragon" a extra (not a famous martial artist, just a extra who was bigger and stronger) challenged Bruce, calling him a "movie fighter" not a true martial artist. After repeated taunts they did have a fight and Bruce won, not in a minute, but did win.

At that time he boxed and defeated three-time champion British boxer Gary Elms in the 1958 HK Inter-School amateur Boxing Championships using a mixture of boxing and Wing Chun. You are correct saying Bruce never competed in champion martial arts contests though.

I did some research and all i found were Bruce Lee GOOGLE fan sites, these Google fans sites love discomforting fighters like Norris, Lewis, Wall etc. I would love to see some real true documented sources from true revisionist historians on such allegation.

All my knowledge of Bruce are from martial arts magazines: "Inside Kung-Fu", "Black Belt", etc. I mean the print copies (that's all we had back in the 1970's...lol. I still have some of them today. My other source regarding Bruce is the biography : Bruce Lee: The Man Only I Knew written by his widow written in 1975, 2 years after Bruces's death. @martinez418 ...those are my sources of info. For current websites I would suggest the "The Official Bruce Lee site" that is maintained by his daughter Shannon Lee and the Bruce Lee Foundation site. Both look real, not fan-based. I hope this helps. And if anything I have said is wrong, please let me know and I'll see if what I know is wrong. Oh, and on the Shannon site, she does gives her view of the difference between JKD and mixed martial arts.

Lewis and Chuck both mention that they spared before and were not students of Bruce; but actual sparing partners for the choreographic fight scenes on Bruce's movies. But he has lost fights that he was challenged before... he lost to a jujitsu fighter.. Look it up its in the history books... Sorry but through his battles with other types of fighters he learned the limitations of wing chun and realized that a style does not make you better.. learning techniques that fit you and making you the best martial artist...
