Hmm Let's see. We bath with water, wash dishes with water, but some of you act like vacuuming with water is a sin. These machines work great if they are taken care of and it's not that big of a deal using them. The more you use it the less times you have to change the water because you're getting the crud out. The 5 yo filter on mine is still white on both sides, so it's not even getting dirty. Air flow is still fine I've even taken it off and can tell no noticeable different in air flow
a friend of mine has a rainbow & she loves it cuz it really cleans extremely well & its an air purifier as well. nice to have 2 tools in 1. my sisterinlaw swears by her dyson. i did buy the new dyson stick vac & it picks up more stuff than my standard hoover. i cant afford a dyson or a rainbow but im so tempted to ask her to borrow her rainbow to see what it can get out of my area rug. i keep vacuuming & still cant get it clean.
3.The Rainbow is simply a well made machine that has superior cleaning ability over any vacuum that uses a bag or is a canister with multiple hepa filters, because it maintains a consistent and constant air-flow, even after 20+ years of use!
4.If you change and/or clean the hepa in the Rainbow as recommended, you need not worry about it clogging and diminishing the air-flow!
Thanks to jrepairguy21, I will never marry a man who has a Kirby since apparently, they're all asses who have so little of a life that they can spend their time fighting about VACUUM CLEANERS. Either that or they're gay.
You people comparing it to your vacuum cleaners are pretty ignorant on the product. First of all it is predominately an air cleaner, it's a secondary carpet cleaner/shampooer/furniture cleaner and a whole lot of other crap I dont really care to type as I don't promote things I'm not paid to promote. Any standard vacuum just picks up the dirt and blows it through the exhaust, if you have a vacuum (dyson kerby, doesnt matter) you're just chasing the same dirt over and over.... good day.
I own a rainbow and used to sell them and I can tell you right now I have done demos agains any kind of vacuum you can think of- central vacs are the worst- I always enjoyed doing a demo at a house that had a central vac because I could pull a ton of dirt from the carpet! And by the way- the rainbow e series is a certified air purifier for those of you that say its a polluter- it comes with a certificate that states it is an epa certified air purifier.
@spongebobsqr42 Then that certificate is FRAUD, because the Rainbow only cleaned up its act on polluting the indoor air after Consumer Reports exposed these machines as the junk that they are. And who in hell wants to fool around with all that mess everytime they clean? I don't have the time! Also, if that water is really capturing all that dust, then why must you clean the separator? Look at it after you use it; it's dusty; the dirt blew right by and up into the fans, housing, and motor.
Nilfisk is the best.. they offer Vacuums for industrial use. I've got a Nilfisk X150 Vacuum cleaner & it the best one to me as it has not let me down. One thing i had the same rainbow vac as u intill the motor because the vac is stop heavy & can fall over eazy..
I definetly think, (even @ $2800) the price is worth it. We've owned ours for 10+ years and the baby is STILL going!!! I LOVE this vacuum! It is wearing down now, ONLY because of wear and tear; children/teens using the vaccum. To make the best of your product/money, make sure responsible people use it only! I'm sure the thing would still be like new if we would have!!!

I sold Rainbows back in 1990 at a price of $1586.00 ($300 of which was my commission) and I can honestly say I believe they were the best machines out there for the job at that time. I loved the Rainbow I had up until the day it died in 2009 - yes, 19 years out of one unit with far from sufficient maintenance bordering on severe neglect. Had I taken better care of it, I'm sure it would still be working today. Without knowledge of the new ones I can neither confirm nor deny the current quality.
It's cheaper to install central vac and vent the dirt outside. I have an old D2 Rainbow; 40 years old. I used it to vacuum the car. Rainbows are an over priced average vacuum cleaner. Cost $3000 now. Most of the cost goes to pay the commission of a complex pyramidal employee structure: the sales person, the person who hired him, manager, owner of local office, local distributor, region distributor. They all get a commission on each machine sold. Rainbows should be sold in a store at retail.
@cluppins I agree that Rainbow's should be sold in stores to cut out the commission costs. But, I totally DISAGREE that it is an AVERAGE vaccuum!!! It is the best I have ever used; might I mention/add that I am such a meticulous cleaner!?!...
The Rainbow is the best cleaning machine in the world, and Ive had one for years and would never buy another vacuum (dust blower) again. People who say the electroleux is better are clearly stupid people snd have never owned or used a Rainbow.
@leenalious I used to own one, I was once stupid, too....until I began to work on them and saw first-hand just how dirty they are....and come on, only pulling 60 on the suction guage? PLEASE. for the price you pay for these piles of junk, it should at least pull 100. I had dogs when I had mine, and it was true, the dog smell went away.....for awhile, Then, it became a WET DOG smell as soon as all that dirt and crud built up inside the motor and fans. Never again. Water is a POOR filter.
These are absolutly the best vaccum cleaners out there. They used to go by the name Rexall for years and my mom owned one when I was growing up. I then purchased one and they are amazing. They are very pricey but I have allergies so it was worth it. You can use it on couches, mattresses, and carpets. You can go over your carpet first with your own vaccuum cleaner then get someone who has a rainbow go right behind you and you will never look at vaccum cleaners the same way again.
@CODAC you're joking, right? Run your beloved Rainbow, then take nearly any other vacuum over the same spot and I guarantee you will pick up even more dirt. The Rainbow only pulls about 60 on a suction guage, not the 102 that my Air-Way Sanitizor does. And had they not quietly added that hepa after-filter, it would still be "Quite a polluter". I used to repair these all the time, usually water-damaged bearings, and I can tell you, it was THE DIRTIEST vacuum to work on. FILTHY.
You should have vacuumed more with your central vac - I don't think this was a fair comparison, however the Rainbow *IS* a good and powerful vacuum from what I've read.
I see that you have the Aerus Centralux central vacuum though. How do you like it? What's the quality like? How well does it clean besides the fact any vacuum will pull stuff out a previous vacuum left behind, though some *MUCH* more than others?
@FeeLtheHertZ I'm an Aerus consultant and I can honestly say that the Centralux is very good, however I do think it is in need of a redesign as other central vacs such as MD are now more powerful. With that said though Central vacs seem to be on the decline and as far as our other vacs go they are as powerful as ever, The new Lux Guardian Ultra has the highest airflow of any vac like it including Rainbow. I just blew away my friends Rainbow with it just yesterday.
4th generation Rainbow owner here. That water was not nearly as dirty as what the average user will encounter. Every time I show a friend my vacuum - they end up buying a Rainbow. I don't even sell them. If I loan one out, the person buys one within a few weeks. You don't sell a Rainbow - they sell themselves.
if anyone wants a free demo in the south-western ontario region, feel free to call toll free at 1-877-405-1233 and ask for Chris Laidlow (there are no obligations whatsoever).
My parent's have their C2 from 1962 and it is still going. The only thing that fails is the power cord should have had a strain relief at the power head.
You're full of shit, buddy. I've shown the Rainbow in homes that had a Kirby and when I left, the Kirby went with me. The Kirby is an overrated piece of junk. I can't tell you how many times I've let the customer use their Kirby and my Rainbow picked up junk where they had just vacuumed with their Kirby.
Years ago when I was a kid a rainbow salesman came and showed it to us in comparison w/ our kirby... my mom was very impressed, but we couldn't afford a rainbow.... now, years later, my wife hates the kirby because it's so heavy, so I'm thinking of getting a rainbow... I don't want to waste money on the trash for sale at the stores around here....
@cellovid you wont be disapointed in the rainbow i grew up with electroluxs my parents traded ever so many yrs they had a kirby i have a rainbow now and wouldnt trade it for nothing they are good machines
@Soldier0117 there not worth it I was takeing a sales class on this and when I went in the pratice field they expected me to sell at least 2 rainbows or you have to have 10 shows 80 leads and the pepole they want to sell to is home owners they have to be a husband and wife and the funny thing the sales pepole have to find there own leads first when they start and they wont make squate for the first weeks cause some times they wont even be able to sell to there own familes or friends.
I sold rainbows in the 1980's for $400. I still have the D2 unit, I use it in my garage. There are 2 advantages of owning a rainbow. It's earth friendly, no bags to buy. Throw the dirty water back outside. 2nd You don't filter the air in your home through a dirty bag full of mildew and mold spores.Today's Rainbow ($2600) doesn't clean any better than other vacuum cleaners. Dirty water demonstration is a gimmick because the dirt looks muddy. I use a central vac ($600) with an outside airfilter.
@xPH3N0Mx Yeah, well, if you came to my house, you'd be leaving with your crappy Rainbow junk repacked in it's box to be sold as new to the next unsuspecting fool, but I know better. I have had Filter Queen, Tri-Star, and Rainbow in my house, and they cannot pull any dirt at all from my 15-year-old carpet. Guess my Kirby G-5 and my Air-Way is doing the job just fine, thank you very much. You'd also be leaving with your ego shattered and your tail between your legs as you lug that Rainbow out

21 year warranty so tell your aqua to shove it plus think about it logically this company makes 1 product since 1932 pretty damn sure its gonna beat the competition if the only thing this 14 billion dollar company is based on is the rainbow. so good try but do some research :)
I pay 1,800 for mine brand new,I love it I had it for ten years wouldn't trade it for nothing in the world.don't forget the other side is use for blowing either drying srceeneys after washing ...now ten years without buying a Vacumn is saving you money..and your health....
I had a Rainbow in the 1970s and it was the best vacuum ever! I vacuumed with it every day and didn't have to replace the motor for 15 years. Then it lasted another 10.
I've had bag and bagless vacuums ever since and spent a fortune on replacing them after a year.
I want another Rainbow and am saving for one. IMHO there is not another vacuum as powerful and long-lasting. I just wish the price were better.
Sometimes the Hepa can get dirty if your house is so dirty where it saturated the water because its not water any more kinda like not using water that way lol..
And I will admit that not all vacuums will get all the dirt out and that you could probably go back over the same spot where you just vacuumed with a Rainbow and get more dirt. I will agree they cost too much. I would get one used. I will say this, if I get lazy and don't vacuum with the rainbow and use my regular hepa bagged vac, the level of dust in the house a few days later is much more than if I had used the Rainbow. Definitely a difference in dust in your house when using it!
@mark40511 Sorry, but as a vacuum cleaner dealer and service technician for several years, Consumer Reports was 100% correct when they said the Rainbow "Was quite a polluter". Rexair, inc., who made the Rainbow at that time was forced to ADD A HEPA AFTER-FILTER on future models because it was INDEED a polluter. Not only that, but it is only SUB-PAR as a carpet cleaner; look at a current Comsumer Reports ratings guide and you'll see what I mean.
I've had a Rainbow 2 speed for almost three years. For those of you that say some of the dirt bounces off the water and goes into the hepa, then please explain to me why the hepa filter on mine is still snow white after almost three years of use? I suspect those who vacuum and let the water get "thick" and "cruddy" and continue vacuuming is when the water can't filter as well. Just dump the dirty water after about 20 mins and put new in, then you wont have this thick crud to dump out!
If I take the hepa filter out of mine, I can see inside the machine somewhat, all I see is a "white haze" I'm guessing hard water or mineral deposits from tap water, but its not dirty and very clean smelling even inside the machine. I suspect that those who have worked on Rainbows and see a machine filled with dirt were used by people who let the water get thick with crud before changing it. You can't filter with crud, only water. Change the water often and it shouldn't be an issue.
look at the HEPA filter from the other side. anyway do you know you can increase the suction power of your rainbow by a factor of three by removing the water and the HEPA filter?
I did. I looked at it from both sides. I took it completely off. Snow white on both sides. I've never seen another vacuum with a hepa filter that stays that clean looking that long
@mark40511 I changed my water constantly when I had mine; I never let it get thick with lint. Just admit it, dude, it's a big lie. That white stuff you see inside is indeed DIRT. Dirt often looks white until you get it wet, like wet a finger, then wipe it. If that water truly got all that fine dust and dirt, then why, oh why, must you clean that damned separator? Because it gets dirty, that's why, and lots more crud blows right by it. Try wiping the flange underneath with the sep. off.
Hey............The separator on mine doesn't even have any dirt on it............sometimes I clean it anyway......But there's never any hair or lint or anything on it .........The older Rainbows separator had to be cleaned.......The Hepa on mine is now five years old........and there's no loss of airflow at all...So the five year old hepa is NOT clogged.......To test I've taken it off and put a brand new one on. Same airflow with the new as with the five year old one
@Jrepairguy21 Since you said this I've been cleaning my separator grooves with a white toothbrush every single time I finish cleaning with my rainbow and the separator is not dirty. The toothbrush is still white..........The slight white haze in my machine.......I did the wet test..........it's hard water deposits (like when using tape water from an ultrasonic humidifier that causes a white haze on everything) same thing. Not dirt! Took the hepa off & same airflow off as on.
@Jrepairguy21 Correction : Tap water. To test the hepa I took it completely OFF and ran the rainbow without it......There was no noticeable increase in airflow with it off than when it was ON.....It's not clogged or dirty. If you stick your nose inside the exhaust port, it smells clean. It doesn't stink at all. I don't sell Rainbows. I'm don't sell these things. I'm just sayin, I just take care of mine & use it properly & am not having the issues you're talking about.
We've had a rainbow for several months now, and my wife loves it. So does her sister, who also has one (and suffers from asthma, so hates replacing bags). My wife love to empty the water, and see all the dirt going outside where it belongs. You can complain about the price, but don't dis the vacuum until you've used it. It really does suck! :-)
My mother has a rainbow with all the attachments. I'm not sure what she paid for it? But it works great,it both amazing and gross by how much dirt it gets off of the floor. It is just a pain in the butt.
rainbow sucks. you did not even vacuum were the electrolux vacuumed. if you watch your own video you and everyone else that watches it can clearly see that. try again next time electrolux crushes rainbow. next time try not to cut the camera off. thats a old trick
if you read all the threads, I state the the rainbow is better however there are pro's and con's. If you really think that i would take the time to spoof this you really have me wrong, I rather not waste my time like that. But thanks for the comment, all comments are welcomed. Thanks
@Brandon2Willis Sorry friend. Nothing can beat the rainbow with continuous airflow and a powerhouse power nozzle. and he DID vacuum where only where he vacuumed with the LUX. The lux has not and never will even compare in the least bit, to pulling dirt like the rainbow can.. The electrolux really crushes NOTHING as far as all my tests have proven. You can prove this for yourself anytime you you want as well as long as you have an open mind. This might be hard for you, dear friend. YES RAINBOW!
@Brandon2Willis sorry friend, the electrolux or any bag vacuum including built ins cannot hold a candle to the rainbow. You ar eright though, the Rainbow sucks but the bag PLUGS. That is common knowledge if you know anything about bags. THE RAINBOW IS THE BEST AND THE NEW E4 HAS 92 CUBIC FEET PER MINUTE STEADY AIR FLOW. RAINBOW - 100 - electrolux - - NO SCORE
@Brandon2Willis... Obviously you're just repeating what you've heard a Miele or Sebo saleman say about Rainbow vacs. It's clear you've never used one. I never bought one. My dad's wife brought one with her and it's AWESOME. Never seen a vacuum pick up so much crap on floors that were vacuumed everyday with a Dyson.
@Brandon2Willis I used to own a Rainbow, and they are indeed the worst vacuum cleaner out there; it leaks dust like a sieve, it's a royal pain in the ass to take care of, and it had only mediocre suction (like only pulling 60 instead of Electrolux's 80 on a suction guage) AND the ONLY reason they added an after-filter was because of what Consumer Reports said about it, that it was THE worst polluter they ever tested. Like they said, in both its new and old versions, the Rainbow is a poor buy
The Rainbow leaks dust? Really? Then if that's the case, why is my house WAY less dusty when I use the Rainbow to clean everything top to bottom.........I would think if it leaks dust, I'd be living in a dusty mess........But my house is actually not dusty at all .....Even when the sun shines through the window, you don't see much dust particles in the air...........it is somewhat of a pain to use but it cleans really well I think.....if you vacuum EVERYTHING top 2 bottom first
The Rainbow vac is the single best cleaning system in the WORLD! The people who say it costs too much DO NOT have their priorities in order. My opinion is that if you are living in a house that has not been cleaned with the rainbow, you might as well live in a cave!
I agree who wants to live in a cave? They are not expensive in the long run because they last forever & you dont have to keep buying bags. I have a 1962 Rainbow that I use every day & I expect it to last another 46 years.
@VeganBarbie05 The way I look at it it cost about 2227.00 let ask one thing how would some one beable to one if they dont make that much and another thing why dont we even see them at wal mart ?
you would think so however it was not the case. I do like my aerus unit however the rianbow is more powerful because of the distance from the actual unit. The proof is in the video. But again for the price I'm not 100% I would buy it again. It's expensive.
We had a rainbow salesman in our house last night and he did this and after I said "well, let's see how the rainbow does in this test - otherwise you haven't really proven anything"
So I had him vacuum a new area over and over with his rainbow and then check it and low and behold it had the same amount of dirt and sand. So his vacuum "left" that much stuff behind also. That is why experiments always need a control - something to contrast it with. The same thing will happen with theirs.
To be more specific. He told me to vacuum an area 50 times with my vacuum. Then he used a cloth as a filter on his rainbow to show how much dirt etc my vacuum "left behind". That's when I asked to see how his vacuum would in fact perform in the same test. He vacuumed a new spot 50 times with his, then did the filter test and it looked the same - plenty of new dirt and sand on that new spot he cleaned with his just like mine.
Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say.
The point of my post was to say this test means nothing without going the other way and showing a contrast. The fact is there is no contrast - you'd get the same results with using the rainbow both times.
The purpose of the demonstration is not to prove anything but to sell you a vacuum so they can get their commission. The Oreck commercials show the bald guy picking up bowling balls, nuts & bolts, etcetera. I don't have nuts & bolts all over my carpet, I just want it to look good & get it as clean as possible. The worst vacuum is the Kirby & their distributors used to give demonstrations using the Kirby motor to sharpen knives, which is ridiculous!
Of course the core purpose is to sell a vacuum, but this demonstration does that by dishonestly representing that it works better than your normal vacuum. There is no control group unless you do it the other way around, which if you do - shows you any vacuum will leave dirt that can be picked up by another pass of any decent machine.
if you clean with anything but a wet method you are just causing more damage. vacuums do not work after the first 15 min of a new bag the pores in the bag get clogged and it just ends up pushing all the small particles back in your rug. Causing more damage to your carpet. Also suction has nothing to do with getting it clean. It is about airflow. If you dont believe me ask for a demo of the rainbow and they will show you.
@wmassbruce I don't know where you're coming from, but my Kirby's have lasted well beyond 15 years before needing any repair, and they have done an EXCELLENT job of cleaning my carpet; so good, in fact, that no one else, and I mean NO ONE, can ever find any dirt in my house, my carpets, furniture, etc. And, I never have to dust. When people complain about Kirby, I usually find upon inspection of the unit that it has been horribly abused. And I'm NOT a Kirby dealer; I just repair all makes.
Those who argue about demonstrating vacuum cleaners are just wasting their time. There is no vacuum that will get every particle of dirt from your carpet.
you missed the point. your system will eventually clog and lose efficiency.. when your car filter clogs you lose efficiency correct? when i tape your mouth and nose shut you cant pull any air in right? the same thing happens with all dry porus systems. however your old system leaves so much dust and dirt behind that it takes many tries to get at it. eventually the rainbow would.
Well guys I just saw a demonstration of this Rainbow System (e2) and I was truly impressed, the problem is the price. At least If one of my referred persons decides to buy one, I get the Rainbow Rainmate as a gift.
The Rainbow must be experienced. See a demonstration. Only air purifier that trult takes dust particles out of the air. This is just one of many, many things to see.
d2 model the best!! i proudly own 2. the first one my mom used for 25 years, and i bought my own and have been using my whole life 15 yrs... im 25, thats 40 yrs total! and i have (not) bought 1 filter since!! i've paid for the Rainbow once and so has mom.. eat shit and die kirby-- i sold those things...i only lasted 2 weeks cause i supposedly used to much of their soap to sell their shit" prouduct".. theyre full of SHIT!!...
suction does not clean. heres a test; stuff a papertowel in the end of any vacuum hose. hold your hand over the hose to create the suction. turn the machine on, and whith your hand still covering the hose turn the machine off and wait until the machine is stopped. then remove your hand and see what is still there. if suction cleans then the papertowel would be gone right? AIRFLOW CLEANS!!! THE RAINBOW NEVER LOSES AIRFLOW!!
:o) I can assume you there was suction coming from it, trust me I would not have this video on if it was not the case, check out how much I paid for the freaking thing.
so you think it does, no offense but its got a flat filter, now with a flat filter you got two choices 1.CLOGGED 2 chainlink fence throwing tennis balls at it, special hint your filter is a chain link fence, by the way have you ever seen the exhaust on a rainbow?
Before the airflow hits the hepa on the back side- it goes directly through the water and then the patented seperator. most all dust has an opposite particle charge to the water, that is why we use water to clean just about everything. however there is certain dust that is not water soluble such as drywall dust and plaster. That is why the people at rainbow added the hepa. most dust never even touches it , you only have to clean the hepa once a year even if you use the rainbow daily
also in the motor what else happens is the mildew and bacteria build up from the machine over time causing a infestation of virus and bacteria that could lead to asma and allergie attacks. tis tis rainbow
@metallicat2000 WRONG! I used to own one, I KNOW.......and that Separator does indeed alow crud to blow right by; otherwise, it would never need cleaned, it would never get crud built up in the slots, would it? But it DOES. None of you will ever understand until and unless you were to take one apart; there, you'd see all the dust and dirt that escapes the water. The cleanest vacuum I ever took apart? An Air-Way Sanitizor; that machine truly was an air purifier if ever I saw one.
As the salesman and the brief instruction book both clearly say, you should never leave the bowl full of water with the machine attached. Is it that hard to empty a bowl of water?
I have to say that I made this a long time ago and I still think it to be a good product but not very practical and very costly. I hope you don't rip pff people as I got ripped. $2800 for a air purification system. Way to much, anyway a lesson well learned not to impulse buy anymore. :( :)
There is a vendor coming soon to our home and he will give us a preview, we won't let us know the price of the Rainbow System after he comes to our house and give us the preview, if it cost what you say ($2800) then of course we CAN NOT afford it by any chance, but to think we have cats and that there is a baby coming next month, the decision is hard.
I would say go get yourself a good vacum that uses water or maybe the new Dison's I thin they are called however no vacumm is worth this much, I just want to make sure that no one else pays this much for it. Good luck and congrats on the baby!
The Rainbow is the best vacuum cleaner you can buy & they are very expensive, you get what you pay for. I don't know much about the new ones, they look like plastic pieces of junk to me. The best Rainbows they ever made were in the 1970's mostly all metal & stainless steel & they last forever. My advice is to buy a used Rainbow on ebay or check out craigs list. You could find a distributor in your area willing to sell you a refurbished one, good luck because they'll want to sell you a new one.
they are not made out of plastic! I am a rainbow dealer and they are made out of scratch resistant material as long as you dont go crazy and throw it across the street or down some stairs that surface will last the life span of the machine. Also the "plastic" Basin is made out of the same material helicopter windows are the only thing you can do to it is scratch it if you clean with anything other than a dish cloth. Either way a new one or used dont matter they are a great product
@jrmallonee Really? Is that why we are constantly ordering replacement water basins for people, because they're so resistant to breakage? I see at least two cracked or broken water basins a month. And sorry, but I've seen those PLASTIC housings crack and break. A lot..... . The Rainbow is just a very poor buy. Consumer Reports said that, while the Kirby costs as much as a used car, "At least it worked well; the Rainbow didn't."
Get a Eureka ABS at Walmart for $100. Consumer Reports always gives Eureka good scores - better than Dyson. As for Rainbow? Probably a good vac but the company has such a horrible reputation and no way worth the thousands suckers pay for them.
5.You can get a Rainbow E2 for 1500.00 on-line!

And by the way- the rainbow e series is a certified air purifier for those of you that say its a polluter- it comes with a certificate that states it is an epa certified air purifier.
spongebobsqr42 10 months ago
@spongebobsqr42 I guarantee my miele could beat my e2 :)
vacuumlover1 10 months ago
@spongebobsqr42 Then that certificate is FRAUD, because the Rainbow only cleaned up its act on polluting the indoor air after Consumer Reports exposed these machines as the junk that they are. And who in hell wants to fool around with all that mess everytime they clean? I don't have the time! Also, if that water is really capturing all that dust, then why must you clean the separator? Look at it after you use it; it's dusty; the dirt blew right by and up into the fans, housing, and motor.

Rainbows should be sold in a store at retail.
cluppins 1 year ago

FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
@FeeLtheHertZ I'm an Aerus consultant and I can honestly say that the Centralux is very good, however I do think it is in need of a redesign as other central vacs such as MD are now more powerful. With that said though Central vacs seem to be on the decline and as far as our other vacs go they are as powerful as ever, The new Lux Guardian Ultra has the highest airflow of any vac like it including Rainbow. I just blew away my friends Rainbow with it just yesterday.

I had a Rainbow in the 1970s and it was the best vacuum ever! I vacuumed with it every day and didn't have to replace the motor for 15 years. Then it lasted another 10.
I've had bag and bagless vacuums ever since and spent a fortune on replacing them after a year.

Sometimes the Hepa can get dirty if your house is so dirty where it saturated the water because its not water any more kinda like not using water that way lol..
JoshuaWilder 2 years ago
And I will admit that not all vacuums will get all the dirt out and that you could probably go back over the same spot where you just vacuumed with a Rainbow and get more dirt. I will agree they cost too much. I would get one used. I will say this, if I get lazy and don't vacuum with the rainbow and use my regular hepa bagged vac, the level of dust in the house a few days later is much more than if I had used the Rainbow. Definitely a difference in dust in your house when using it!
mark40511 3 years ago
@mark40511 Sorry, but as a vacuum cleaner dealer and service technician for several years, Consumer Reports was 100% correct when they said the Rainbow "Was quite a polluter". Rexair, inc., who made the Rainbow at that time was forced to ADD A HEPA AFTER-FILTER on future models because it was INDEED a polluter. Not only that, but it is only SUB-PAR as a carpet cleaner; look at a current Comsumer Reports ratings guide and you'll see what I mean.
Jrepairguy21 9 months ago
I've had a Rainbow 2 speed for almost three years. For those of you that say some of the dirt bounces off the water and goes into the hepa, then please explain to me why the hepa filter on mine is still snow white after almost three years of use? I suspect those who vacuum and let the water get "thick" and "cruddy" and continue vacuuming is when the water can't filter as well. Just dump the dirty water after about 20 mins and put new in, then you wont have this thick crud to dump out!
mark40511 3 years ago
you should open it and see from the other side. then you will really see that its not as snow white as the front.
myflykite 3 years ago
If I take the hepa filter out of mine, I can see inside the machine somewhat, all I see is a "white haze" I'm guessing hard water or mineral deposits from tap water, but its not dirty and very clean smelling even inside the machine. I suspect that those who have worked on Rainbows and see a machine filled with dirt were used by people who let the water get thick with crud before changing it. You can't filter with crud, only water. Change the water often and it shouldn't be an issue.
mark40511 3 years ago
look at the HEPA filter from the other side. anyway do you know you can increase the suction power of your rainbow by a factor of three by removing the water and the HEPA filter?
myflykite 2 years ago
I did. I looked at it from both sides. I took it completely off. Snow white on both sides. I've never seen another vacuum with a hepa filter that stays that clean looking that long
mark40511 2 years ago
@mark40511 I changed my water constantly when I had mine; I never let it get thick with lint. Just admit it, dude, it's a big lie. That white stuff you see inside is indeed DIRT. Dirt often looks white until you get it wet, like wet a finger, then wipe it. If that water truly got all that fine dust and dirt, then why, oh why, must you clean that damned separator? Because it gets dirty, that's why, and lots more crud blows right by it. Try wiping the flange underneath with the sep. off.
Jrepairguy21 9 months ago
@Jrepairguy21
Same airflow with the new as with the five year old one
mark40511 9 months ago
@Jrepairguy21 Since you said this I've been cleaning my separator grooves with a white toothbrush every single time I finish cleaning with my rainbow and the separator is not dirty. The toothbrush is still white..........The slight white haze in my machine.......I did the wet test..........it's hard water deposits (like when using tape water from an ultrasonic humidifier that causes a white haze on everything) same thing. Not dirt! Took the hepa off & same airflow off as on.
mark40511 1 month ago
@Jrepairguy21 Correction : Tap water. To test the hepa I took it completely OFF and ran the rainbow without it......There was no noticeable increase in airflow with it off than when it was ON.....It's not clogged or dirty. If you stick your nose inside the exhaust port, it smells clean. It doesn't stink at all. I don't sell Rainbows. I'm don't sell these things. I'm just sayin, I just take care of mine & use it properly & am not having the issues you're talking about.

YES RAINBOW!
countryvet 1 year ago
@Brandon2Willis sorry friend, the electrolux or any bag vacuum including built ins cannot hold a candle to the rainbow. You ar eright though, the Rainbow sucks but the bag PLUGS. That is common knowledge if you know anything about bags. THE RAINBOW IS THE BEST AND THE NEW E4 HAS 92 CUBIC FEET PER MINUTE STEADY AIR FLOW. RAINBOW - 100 - electrolux - - NO SCORE
countryvet 1 year ago
@Brandon2Willis... Obviously you're just repeating what you've heard a Miele or Sebo saleman say about Rainbow vacs. It's clear you've never used one. I never bought one. My dad's wife brought one with her and it's AWESOME. Never seen a vacuum pick up so much crap on floors that were vacuumed everyday with a Dyson.
prutyladyd07 1 year ago
@Brandon2Willis I used to own a Rainbow, and they are indeed the worst vacuum cleaner out there; it leaks dust like a sieve, it's a royal pain in the ass to take care of, and it had only mediocre suction (like only pulling 60 instead of Electrolux's 80 on a suction guage) AND the ONLY reason they added an after-filter was because of what Consumer Reports said about it, that it was THE worst polluter they ever tested. Like they said, in both its new and old versions, the Rainbow is a poor buy
Jrepairguy21 10 months ago
@Jrepairguy21

The same thing will happen with theirs.
domenachi 3 years ago
To be more specific. He told me to vacuum an area 50 times with my vacuum. Then he used a cloth as a filter on his rainbow to show how much dirt etc my vacuum "left behind". That's when I asked to see how his vacuum would in fact perform in the same test. He vacuumed a new spot 50 times with his, then did the filter test and it looked the same - plenty of new dirt and sand on that new spot he cleaned with his just like mine.
domenachi 3 years ago
Look only to the system; you like to found it out .you are not srious; why you don't have the monney. so simpel is that
wim629 3 years ago
Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say.
The point of my post was to say this test means nothing without going the other way and showing a contrast. The fact is there is no contrast - you'd get the same results with using the rainbow both times.
domenachi 3 years ago
The purpose of the demonstration is not to prove anything but to sell you a vacuum so they can get their commission. The Oreck commercials show the bald guy picking up bowling balls, nuts & bolts, etcetera. I don't have nuts & bolts all over my carpet, I just want it to look good & get it as clean as possible. The worst vacuum is the Kirby & their distributors used to give demonstrations using the Kirby motor to sharpen knives, which is ridiculous!
wmassbruce 3 years ago
Of course the core purpose is to sell a vacuum, but this demonstration does that by dishonestly representing that it works better than your normal vacuum. There is no control group unless you do it the other way around, which if you do - shows you any vacuum will leave dirt that can be picked up by another pass of any decent machine.
domenachi 3 years ago
if you clean with anything but a wet method you are just causing more damage. vacuums do not work after the first 15 min of a new bag the pores in the bag get clogged and it just ends up pushing all the small particles back in your rug.

There is no vacuum that will get every particle of dirt from your carpet.
wmassbruce 3 years ago
you missed the point. your system will eventually clog and lose efficiency.. when your car filter clogs you lose efficiency correct? when i tape your mouth and nose shut you cant pull any air in right? the same thing happens with all dry porus systems. however your old system leaves so much dust and dirt behind that it takes many tries to get at it. eventually the rainbow would.

An experiment without a control means nothing.
domenachi 3 years ago
@isaa5060 Yeah, well, likewise, when your Rainbow after-filter gets clogged, it won't be able to breathe, either.

Well guys I just saw a demonstration of this Rainbow System (e2) and I was truly impressed, the problem is the price. At least If one of my referred persons decides to buy one, I get the Rainbow Rainmate as a gift.
We will think about it, however.
racsito39 3 years ago
I can sell you mine for half the price the others are offering if you like. I'm in Ottawa Canada, where are you?
mrsoopy 3 years ago
Far from Canada. I live in Dominican Republic.
racsito39 3 years ago
oh :o) I guess not. It's 2 bad :o)
mrsoopy 3 years ago
The Rainbow must be experienced. See a demonstration. Only air purifier that trult takes dust particles out of the air. This is just one of many, many things to see.

suction does not clean. heres a test; stuff a papertowel in the end of any vacuum hose. hold your hand over the hose to create the suction. turn the machine on, and whith your hand still covering the hose turn the machine off and wait until the machine is stopped. then remove your hand and see what is still there. if suction cleans then the papertowel would be gone right? AIRFLOW CLEANS!!! THE RAINBOW NEVER LOSES AIRFLOW!!

the rainbow is amazing. if you have a chance to get a new e2 series, do it! truly amazing!
metallicat2000 3 years ago
i didnt hear any suction with your central vac, that switch on the handle is only for the brush not the suction.
engma91477 4 years ago
:o) I can assume you there was suction coming from it, trust me I would not have this video on if it was not the case, check out how much I paid for the freaking thing.

Rainbow rocks! It kills all vacs..
bertez 4 years ago
so you think it does, no offense but its got a flat filter, now with a flat filter you got two choices 1.CLOGGED 2 chainlink fence throwing tennis balls at it, special hint your filter is a chain link fence, by the way have you ever seen the exhaust on a rainbow?
Rob8278106 4 years ago
Before the airflow hits the hepa on the back side- it goes directly through the water and then the patented seperator. most all dust has an opposite particle charge to the water, that is why we use water to clean just about everything. however there is certain dust that is not water soluble such as drywall dust and plaster. That is why the people at rainbow added the hepa. most dust never even touches it , you only have to clean the hepa once a year even if you use the rainbow daily
djam91 4 years ago 3
also in the motor what else happens is the mildew and bacteria build up from the machine over time causing a infestation of virus and bacteria that could lead to asma and allergie attacks. tis tis rainbow
Timsters101 4 years ago
the seperator on the bottom keeps everything in the water. nothing gets in the motor. its the only machine like it in the world.
metallicat2000 3 years ago
@metallicat2000 WRONG! I used to own one, I KNOW.......and that Separator does indeed alow crud to blow right by; otherwise, it would never need cleaned, it would never get crud built up in the slots, would it? But it DOES. None of you will ever understand until and unless you were to take one apart; there, you'd see all the dust and dirt that escapes the water. The cleanest vacuum I ever took apart? An Air-Way Sanitizor; that machine truly was an air purifier if ever I saw one.
Jrepairguy21 9 months ago
As the salesman and the brief instruction book both clearly say, you should never leave the bowl full of water with the machine attached. Is it that hard to empty a bowl of water?
winfidel 3 years ago
not at all and we always remove the water from the bowl.

cyberlight22 4 years ago
I have to say that I made this a long time ago and I still think it to be a good product but not very practical and very costly. I hope you don't rip pff people as I got ripped. $2800 for a air purification system. Way to much, anyway a lesson well learned not to impulse buy anymore. :( :)
mrsoopy 4 years ago
i an not doing it i quit becoust of that
cyberlight22 4 years ago
There is a vendor coming soon to our home and he will give us a preview, we won't let us know the price of the Rainbow System after he comes to our house and give us the preview, if it cost what you say ($2800) then of course we CAN NOT afford it by any chance, but to think we have cats and that there is a baby coming next month, the decision is hard.
racsito39 4 years ago
I would say go get yourself a good vacum that uses water or maybe the new Dison's I thin they are called however no vacumm is worth this much, I just want to make sure that no one else pays this much for it. Good luck and congrats on the baby!
mrsoopy 4 years ago
The Rainbow is the best vacuum cleaner you can buy & they are very expensive, you get what you pay for. I don't know much about the new ones, they look like plastic pieces of junk to me. The best Rainbows they ever made were in the 1970's mostly all metal & stainless steel & they last forever. My advice is to buy a used Rainbow on ebay or check out craigs list. You could find a distributor in your area willing to sell you a refurbished one, good luck because they'll want to sell you a new one.
wmassbruce 3 years ago
they are not made out of plastic! Either way a new one or used dont matter they are a great product
jrmallonee 3 years ago
@jrmallonee Really? Is that why we are constantly ordering replacement water basins for people, because they're so resistant to breakage? I see at least two cracked or broken water basins a month. And sorry, but I've seen those PLASTIC housings crack and break. A lot..... . The Rainbow is just a very poor buy. Consumer Reports said that, while the Kirby costs as much as a used car, "At least it worked well; the Rainbow didn't."
