Hey coolmom9, do not confuse weather variations with climate change. We have to be careful not to interpret any single event as a proof of either warming or the fact that warming has stopped. When scientists look at the global warming, they take into account many, many old possible available evidence. So, we cannot explain any single phenomenon by one single cause. Last year was cooler than the year before, but 2008 still ranks as the 10th warmest year on record!
Polar bears are not endangered. Their populations have been growing over the past 50 years. They survived the far warmer periods of the Halocene interglacial period (our interglacial) as well as the far warmer interglacials previous to the Halocene.
Polar bears are cute now & will be cute through future glaciations and interglacials. There hasn't been global warming for at least 8 years & most warming since 1910 was pre-1945 when CO2 had little effect.

Hey coolmom9, do not confuse weather variations with climate change. We have to be careful not to interpret any single event as a proof of either warming or the fact that warming has stopped. When scientists look at the global warming, they take into account many, many old possible available evidence. So, we cannot explain any single phenomenon by one single cause. Last year was cooler than the year before, but 2008 still ranks as the 10th warmest year on record!

Polar bears are not endangered. Their populations have been growing over the past 50 years. They survived the far warmer periods of the Halocene interglacial period (our interglacial) as well as the far warmer interglacials previous to the Halocene.
Polar bears are cute now & will be cute through future glaciations and interglacials. There hasn't been global warming for at least 8 years & most warming since 1910 was pre-1945 when CO2 had little effect.

they have to hunt near the shore and near open areas on the ice where marine mammals breath

The reason people deny it is because they can't be bothered to change their ways.. too lazy to walk or cycle instead of driving, too lazy to switch off a light, its pathetic!

We don't need to stop "global warming", we need to be preparing for another ice age. I think the polar bears will do just fine!

I use a fan to use less air conditioning.
Trees are not preventing global warming now.
If I walk or jog to work, I will consume more food, creating more global warming.
If I use less hot water, I catch a cold and must drive to the Doctors office.
Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, a horrible pollutant.

In the Davis Strait area, a 140,000-square kilometre region, the polar bear population has grown from 850 in the mid-1980s to 2,100 today.
"There aren't just a few more bears. There are a hell of a lot more bears," said Mitch Taylor, a polar bear biologist who has spent 20 years studying the animals.

There is no correlation whatsoever with the rise in earth's temperature and CO2 levels... and polar bears are thriving right now, declining in 2 of the Arctic's regions and growing in 17 others.

the CO2 is increasing, because we are pulling up oil from under the surface and use it as f.eks fuel to cars which transfer the co2 to the atmosphere after its done with the fuel.. And since we are cutting down more and more of the forrestes we make it worse. The plants(trees, grass.. everything) takes the co2 and makes it to other stuffs. When the plants rotten they take a part of a Extremely long process (probly around 100 000 years)

-Many believe we are getting closer to the densest section of our galaxy, The plane which will put us in the way of the galaxies strongest forces. which might not be that much but everything in relativity. It wouldnt take much to really disrupt the extremely delicate system on earth.
So i really dont see change in the human race unless its forced on us.
But while we continue to pollute and rape the earth, the companies will make money and it will all be the same.

Can anyone produce a scientific report showing how many polar bears died as a result of the loss of ice? No?
Don't allow trite little videos with animated polar bears stranded in the middle of the ocean or sappy love songs detract from the real science. So far, the science suggests that the polar bears are doing just fine.

Funny... twenty or thirty years of Global Warming. We've warmed a whole degree in 100 or 150 years. Oh. my God.. I'm burning up. lol. Thing is, 30 or 35 years ago we had about 5,000 Polar Bears in Alaska and Canada. (I live in Canada) With our Global Warming we now have about 25,000. Do you notice something odd about the numbers? (By the way, Polar Bears survived the Ice Age, and the Roman and Medieval Warm periods and the Eemian Interglacial. Warmer then now.) Warming and cooling is natural.
