Very nice performance, but I always preferred true baroque phrasing. In the left hand with those ascending eighth notes grouped by threes, I always put a slight break every second set, and don't hold notes over bar lines. Since you don't have true dynamics on an organ the way you release your notes is how to give life to a piece. Also a very slightly slower tempo would allow for more expressiveness. Overall though, still a very impressive job! Very good technique!
That was really lovely.. on the ascending triplets in the prelude I try to use my wrist more rather than fingers and slightly detach the notes, despite the legato markings. The organ still emphasises the legato, the notes will just sound less jumbled :)
finally i have found the number of this piece, i allready know this is a Bach Pice, but Bach have a lot of pices ... i like this pice, i played it some months ago, my teacher meke a transcripcion for piano, flutes, and violins it was cool jaja, i played de in the violins, ok good video
thanks a lot man. i played piano for 8 years before i took a four year break and then started organ. been doing keys for about 15 years now. i've always been a good sight-reader, so that's how i learn things so fast. i just have trouble memorizing...
@riverscuomo06 - I'm a terrible sight-reader. I've been working on this prelude in my spare time for a couple of weeks. I'll have to give the fugue a go soon. I've been away from piano for 10 years and it has really begun to show. My left hand is absolutely abominable! I'm hunting for some relatively simple Baroque pieces to use as postludes at church.
i'd been playing organ for like 6 months when this was recorded. i posted a recording of myself playing the third movement of bach's third trio sonata, so go listen to that and let me know what you think.
I like this piece, nice performance and organ! Sounds like a Hook-Hastings organ, what make is it? By the way have you gotten to arranging to play the organ at the Advent? I'd love to see a video of you playing there!
it's a 1930 Moller. First organ in the area to have an electic blower. sadly, there are no mixtures or mutations and no pedal reeds, but i do the best with what i've got. i haven't had a chance to get into advent yet, i'm in the midst of getting ready for an organ competition in connecticut, but i'm going to try next week. the advent organ is one that marshall and ogletree would love to have in their sample library...
Now that I think about it, the console does look distinctively Moller. It sounds like a nice orchestral instrument, certainly nothing like Moller's later instruments.
I'm sure they would love to have that organ in digital form, it's a great pipe organ. It has beautiful pedal stops, awesome reads, really great flute stops, 9 great mixtures. I wish my camera could've done justice to the instrument when I played it! When you get to play it have fun!
this is my favorite piece to play! i'm 16 and i've been playing for 3 years and i can see i've definitely got a lot to learn! i think you did fantastic!
nice job, I played this for the first time on an 1858 single manual, 6 rank from NY brought to MI by sled dog and boat - no really, sled dogs, pipe by pipe...cheers!
Bravo! I can say almost perfect. Putting aside the page thing and at the begining of the fugue sounded just a little bit weird but putting all that aside I say it was perfect. I learn mines by memory to avoid the page thing but Im happy for you man. I hope youre happy with the "proving the point thing" and I even say that youre version is better than mines. Now you can be happy being a "organ hero"
haha, well, originally, i thought that the "send me a video of you playing it" was from you so it kind of offended me. so i'm sorry. nice to meet you?
It was not a offense. I'm not looking for rivals or "I'm a better organist than you" kind of thing. I'm not interested in competition. We are all fellow musicians and our goal is to make music, not to see who is better than who. I say send me a video because people tend to criticize a lot and they do nothing about it HOWEVER you did something about it so you earned my respect. So, nice to meet you
Hey, Im thinking in doing another video me playing the same thing but this time me alone in the chapel becouse playing in front of hundreds of people is completly diferent of playing alone where you are relaxed and concentrated and if I make a mistake I can re-record it untill I get it right. I just want to prove that I can play it mistake free and you said that I played the fugue very slow so I will take that advise and play it faster :)

I've been playing the organ for about a year now. This is my first of the little eight, and I've got the prelude down, working on the fugue now.
You must have a rock solid piano background if you've only been playing the organ 6 months!!
