  • Is it me, or does this guy really sound like Owen Wilson!?!??? lol...

  • 26 people bought a Camry.

  • the engine on the 2008-present Nissan Maxima

    Engine

    3.5L VQ35DE V6

  • On my 2nd maxima now (2006) and plan on upgrading to an 2011 asap :)

  • Just brought one after having a 07 Altima. I am sooo in love with this car!!!

  • @ZeroAsterixz I'm thinking about this for a first car too. I wanted an Altima Coupe but my parents think its to small to be safe so I might get a used maxima.

  • @Ben4201163 yeah i was thinking either this, a 2007 infiniti g35, or a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

  • is this a good choice for a first car? and how fast is it?

  • interior look cheap..

  • Nissan Corp DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT. Bought this car brand new it pulled to the RIGHT SO BAD if I let go of the stearing wheel it pulled across 3 lanes of trafic In less then 5 Sec. Brought this to Nissan Corp. atten. they said it met there " Plans & Specifications" Moral of the story: Driving the car one day & hit a grove in the road The car PULLED INTO A BRICK WALL! I've owned more then 5 Nissan's in the past & Nissan lost my Biz NISSAN DOESNT CARE ABOUT OUR SAFETY!

  • @MRSLVREALTOR You're not helping your case by typing like a 5 year old, nor is posting on here going to resolve your problems.

  • @MRSLVREALTOR ok fuck you

  • God, i seriously love this maxima. I was planning on getting a 2007, but after i saw this, i have to get an 09!

  • Obnoxious drumbeats

  • sooooooooo ugly inside .... ;P

  • do these sag like all other nissan sedans??

  • The only thing keeping me from buying this car is the damn CVT~

  • @nismotech I mean, i wish it had a manual but the cvt works really well. When in manual mode, it actually truly does replicate a regular auto and it shifts through the gears(well ratios) really quick. Works great. I can now understand why they use them. Proud owner of a roque.

  • @kdu8004

I guess CVT is a pretty good choice for your majority consumers with it's advantage in fuel economy. If you look back in the 90's Maxima were selling like hotcakes because it's performance advantage over your typical Camry, Accord, etc... It was advertised as a Sport Sedan(It really was!) plus it was fun to drive! Both manual AND automatic offered. Maybe it's just me, but I still don't see "CVT" and "performance" (or "FUN") in the same sentence yet, let alone "Sport Sedan"~

  • @nismotech Yeah you're absolutely right. But then again, the Maxima is not a g37and is still a mainstream flag ship sedan like a avalon or taurus so they can only make it so sporty but compared to your typical mainstreams like the avalon and Taurus, the maxima is still much, much sportier. I would much rather have the CVT then a conventional automatic. Maybe the next maxima, since manual is out of the question, they'll throw in a DSG gearbox. :)

  • @kdu8004 CVT does have "economic" advantage over traditional automatic, but in the "performance" category is it a better choice than a say a 6 speed automatic with lockup torque converter? (In 2011 terms). Your right, Manuals are fun, but automatics has came a long way. Look at IS-F (automatic), New 2012 V6 Camry SE (automatic), Mercedes AMG (Automatic, newer ones has MCT), My point is CVT is good for economic models and something like DSG is reserve for your luxury crowd (Such as Infiniti)

  • @nismotech Well, I wouldn't call the auto in the IS-f and g37 "conventional." They are pretty complex transmissions. Compare though, the CVT to nissan's old 5 speed auto or The camry's 6 speed auto. Having driven both cars, the maxima shift faster and accelerates smoother and hold the torque much better than the camry's auto. It also give you quicker access to power where as the Camry likes to search for gears. In manual mode, the shifts are precise and very quick.

  • @kdu8004 I'm no technical guru, but seems like Infiniti(also Nissan) offers a pretty standard 7 speed automatic that involves the use of a torque converter. Now, I would say Infiniti are pretty performance oriented vehicles, wouldn't you agree? Why have they not adopted CVT in the Infiniti line? Do you kind of see my perspective on this? My opinion is perhaps a 6 speed automatic (pretty standard stuff for 2011) would be a better choice for transmission from a enthusiast perspective.

  • @nismotech The difference is that all the gears can be locked up unlike a conventional auto and this is not from the converter either. IT's from locking the clutch packs which allows you to have a more direct feel, almost like a DSG. Expensive to build, but than again these are luxury automakers not the mainstream. Using s CVT will limit them to how much power they can put on it. For front wheel drive "MAINSTREAM," It works well. So i wouldn't call the IS-F and G37 "conventional."

  • @nismotech The only problem with CVT like you said is high torque applications. It won't work. But a small v6, the cvt is a perfect fit. If it wasn't good, nissan wouldn't use it in almost all they're sedans. Dsg, you can find in many cars today, not just luxury. Volkswagen for example offers the fastest shifting DSG in the GTI. There is nothing faster than a DSG. But from a enthusiast standpoint, there is nothing better than rowing your own gears. But for the mainstream, CVT makes more sense.

  • why would you want kids to control the music !?!?!

  • the 2009-present Nissan Maxima is assembled in

    Smyrna, Tennessee, USA

  • keep make manual trasmishion pls

  • Man I wanted this car so bad. In fact I 'm going to pay cash for mind which

  • Just bought one. Best car I have ever bought! I had the 350z and an 04 Accord and this car just overwhelms me!

  • thats one hot nissan.

  • I wanted a Mercedes so bad. But I realized the maitenance costs really took a toll for the worst. Infact, this maxima has such a nice look to the point where I enjoy it way more than the mercedes design. Looks like i'll be buying one soon.

  • Due to the fact that Nissan won't offer a proper 6-speed manual for the Maxima they won't be getting my business. Yeah I know about 7 people in all of America would buy one with a maunal but Acura offers a 6-speed manual for the TL. Nissan needs to do the same with the Maxima. A 4-door sports car isn't supposed to have a goddamn CVT.

  • I miss those days. I was 21. Handsome. Tall. Drove a Lexus.

The 2009 Nissan Maxima is a great car by the way.

  • I was sold until i found out it was Front Wheel

  • looks cheap inside ) especially based version )) and engine so noisy and looks slow ) better copy infinity

  • I want to make a sexy time with that engine noise.

  • I picked up a rear wheel drive conversion kit for my 09 maxima at pep boys. The car handles much better now, thanks Pep boys.;)

  • The more I look at this car, the more and more I consider it being one of the most beautiful sedans out there.

  • BRING BACK CHARLIE

  • @bigbad1000do7a I don't think he's gone anywhere. He's just more behind the scenes. He might do a review here and there but from my understanding he's senior editor. But yes he does good reviews.

  • The Maxima competes with the Acura TL, Toyota Avalon, Hyundai Azera, and Mercury Sable. This is the classiest looking Maxima by far. The exterior shares a strong resemblance to the Infiniti G. The backseat radio control is a nice addition. That engine sounds awesome! The Maxima mixes luxury and sport together. It's one of the finest-looking cars on the road today. Nissan is the best automaker IMHO.

  • kinda looks like a charger via front end

  • no manual? front wheel drive? what a turn off.

  • no manual? what a turn off

  • why would we he say it shifts quick even tho its a cvt? 1 gear sir

  • Nissan really need to improve their interiors in their cars...horrible looking.

  • @tom11zz884 i guess its personal opinion but i love their interiors.

  • @tom11zz884 you should check out the SL model

  • @NIGHTMAREuki SL model interior looks like shit as well.

  • @tom11zz884 you got to be joking, it looks better than my X3

  • wow the rear looks embarassingly cramped

  • This nitrorckid either really has a terrible life with his parents problems an all or he's just a really obvious troll...

  • its not stylish looks like a car smashed into the sides and it got a bad body job

  • hahah owen

  • Got the 2010 3.5 SV Premium w/ Tech package, and love it. Came to a total of $40K

  • Haters gonna hate; CVT's are far more efficient.

  • the cvt is the reason i wouldnt buy this car

  • @idiotsawvfr5 cvt?

  • @adulby transmission, its continuously variable which means its constantly changing so it doesnt shift.

  • it drives like a boat, thats all i gott say.

  • @Jamzkangster

some of us like boats :P

  • Nissan, Me, and dupree.

  • @adulby LOLOL!

  • new models are uglyy

  • nicee just bought one today

  • all that horse power hooked up to a CVT. fail.

  • @immortal4942

I agree, even a conventional automatic would be better.

  • jesse lang is ten times better and she is hot

  • CVT sucks

  • roadfly is the best...

  • in my opinion its not really a very good looking car compared to its competitors...but still a very good value for the money.

  • Thanks for doing a video on the sport package model. I just bought one and I couldn't be happier. It's a beautiful car, rides and handles well, has plenty of power for my needs and drives well on wet roads. Interior fit and finish is top notch. I've been messing around with the transmissions D, DS, manual and paddle shifter modes. I miss a pure manual but this is a nice trade off for times when my wife can drive. Good review of a fine car.

  • Who knew I would reference a video I watched 2 years ago when considering buying this car. I've always been a fan of roadflytv and thanks for the review Charlie(circa 2008)

  • Correction. It's actually the M37

  • Advice to Nissan: stop working at cross-purposes. You can't build a serious "sports sedan" on a front-drive platform with a CVT tranny. Go back to a 6-speed auto and offer an AWD model and you'll have a serious contender to compete with anything built by the Germans. Maxima is a near-great car....with a few engineering changes it can be a "great" car.

  • @JackKangaroo1

That's what they have the infinity line for (the G37 to be exact)

  • CVT killed this car. This model Maxima is done.

  • @Rastamut please, done, how about the opposite of that, just getting started, THE best maxima

  • interiors are really god, is it sold in europe?

  • i have a maxima and i can tell you that it is a good car and i dont regret the 36,000 at all. it is not a sports car but when you push the engine it does feel like one....

  • its awesum i now wn one now

290bhp is plenty for a sedan like it

  • Fail. last year had 265 hp. 290 - 265 = 25hp.

  • 07-08 went back down to 255. 04-06 has 265

  • @rohanb2 its actually the same power. they just changed the way they rate the hp ratings.

  • ahh gotcha

  • @youngquazy i third that, way more pwr, makes more than that at the dyno test, trust me, it is powerful

  • very bodacious indeed

  • best looking Nissan ever

  • A gigantic FWD car with an automatic CVT transmission, and it somehow supposed to be a 'sports sedan'. I don't think so. Manual and RWD is the way to go in that department. The maxima is a sporty-ish full-sized family sedan, IMHO. It seems good for what it is.. but it's not a sports car. I especially love the comment... how it shifts gears with the CVT transmission.... I'm not sure this guy has any clue what he's talking about.

  • What he actually means is that the Maxima's transmission (a CVT) is great in Manual mode. I entirely agree, but also think that the Maxima's DS mode is great. Torque is always available! For a comparison between the Manual mode and DS mode, see my video of the Maxima. Acceleration times to 60 mph are close to each other.

  • @jvp367 You are an idiot. He isn't calling the maxima a sports car. A sports car and a sports sedan are two different things. Before you go running your mouth thing things through.

  • From NISSAN'S OWN WEBSITE:

"Nissan Maxima. The 4-Door Sports Car."

    Fuck you. Get a clue.

I have driven the new Maxima, and it's a great family sedan but it is by no means a sports car. Drive a BMW 335i and then tell me this is even a 'sports sedan'. It isn't.

    The m3 sedan. ... now THAT is a 4DSC.

  • @jvp367 Sports sedan you retard there are differences. You cannot compare a sports sedan to a sports car. They are to different things. Once again think things through before you comment!

  • @jvp367 does this fucking beautiful car compete with dat, NO, why r u comparing this to that, the maxima is a great value, sports car in its class, thats why nissan made infiniti, so people don't compare bmws to nissans

  • @bergi85 thank u so much

  • what a car

  • You guys shouldn't use music in your videos. Especially if it's distracting and loud like in this one.

  • Z all the way Nissan power!!

  • Comment removed

  • I'd totally take the Maxima over the G37 sedan, but I'd go with the G37 coupe over ANYTHING!! I MUCH prefer the Sport packages' rims, but I'd really rather take the Premium package.

Black exterior on tan interior for me!

Another thing that amazes me, is how quiet and sporty it is at the same time! Nissan hit the bulls eye and more on it. It look like nothing else on the road :D !

  • slayer542 plzzzzzzzzzzzzz shut the hell off and go buy a subaru

  • I did check it out. So which one would you take??

  • Yes, but they're about the same price so which one would you take, idiot.

  • The infiniti G37 kills this thing. It's more luxurious and it's MUCH more powerful.

  • and also more expensivee

  • this car is nice

  • FWD has advantages in inclimate weather that RWD just can't offer and it is safer. This is a gorgeous car, videos and pictures does nothing to show or accentuate it's neck snapping looks. Overall he did a decent review but should've shown the Double Panel Sunroof and Electric Sunshades (in the Premium SV version). This car is cheaper than a G37 Inifiniti and has the same interior quality, plus suspension parts from other higher end Inifiniti cars. A jewel overlooked is still a jewel

  • It's only safer to people who don't bother to learn the basics of weight transfer and how a car reacts to your inputs. Which, unfortunately, describes most Americans. You are right about FWD being better in adverse weather though... particularly snow. Trying to start on a snowy hill in a RWD car is sketchy :)

  • G37 is better and cheaper

  • "All FWD cars suffer from torquesteer."

Uh, no. FWD cars with 290 hp? Yes.

  • they say they kinda fixed that in this model

  • Yep they did. I drove the Luxury model just for fun (the Sport unfortunately was nowhere to be found at the dealership at the time) and it was almost devoid of torquesteer entirely.

I was just laughing at the presenter and the typical lack of real knowledge about the topic at hand.

  • wish it came 5speed manual

  • reali good video for vatch! good job

  • I rather take the new Ford TaurusSHO! ;-)

  • FWD?? Man, too bad. totaly miss the days of RWD Maximas :(

  • i know, i love the new maxima, looks amazing, performs great, sporty and the interior is good, but what i hate is the friggin FWD, atleast they should offer RWD for a sport car like this, the G37 is RWD but the interior doesnt look as good as this one

  • My friend brought this car yesterday

even am a Mercedes guy but am kinda jealous

  • one of my favorites. The only negatives i have is the premium gas and the wide turning circle

  • gonna get diz

  • i got tht car

  • I'm considering this car...

  • me too

  • "...which controls your climate control"

  • Nice... nice... the brand new... Maxima!!!!

  • owen wilson

  • lol exactly what i was thinking

  • trolls LOL

  • @AA7575 Nose hasn't been punched enough.

  • @AA7575 Nah the guy from Dumb and Dumber... Jeff Daniels :-) he he he hilarious movie

  • @AA7575 If Owen Wilson was 280lbs of Bloat

  • @AA7575 LOL, I SWEAAR. I FUCKING THOUGHT THAT WAS HIM</3

  • Oh pls. Nissan has been known to be the one with distinctive styling. Lexus is a nice company ,but it only has a few models with attractive styling.

  • maxima's are very dependable cars i want a 09 maxima with the sport packedge

  • Now I wanna get rid of my Sentra SE-R Spec V and get this.... lol..

  • That would be a nice upgrade!

  • I love the sound of the VQ35. Such an amazing sounding motor. I had a 00 Maxima SE 5spd and that was my favorite car ive ever owned. Plenty of power and it never gave me a problem in the time i owned it.

  • My only guess is wether its American or Foreign it all boils down to how it was built in the factory?

  • You said it all. You can have a bad car if it wasnt bulit right from the factory, foreign or domestic

  • I have a friend who whas Mercury Cougar. The car had only 60K miles on it and the transmission was down. She had to replaced is... like 4000$.

  • I must admit...ive owned many american cars throughout the years it has given me many problems mostly transmission.CHEVROLET(91 S10 TRUCK),DODGE(97 AVENGER SE)

until i bought this 1992 nissan maxima damn no problems still running strong.

  • cool you had a 97 avenger too but I switched to a 2007 max

  • Yup the problem with my 97 Dodge Avenger was the 'Clutch Plate' it was an automatic transmission.

  • nice engine

  • Why dont you put your chrysler 300c in your fucking ass becuase no one cares

    you think asshole retard

  • Learn how to construct a sentence?

    Lick my balls?

    Get a green card?

These are all things you should consider doing in the near future.

  • i have to admit i kind of like how this looks but id take a cadillac cts over this anyday

  • only thing is a maxima would last much longer than a cts but the cts is a bad ass car

  • false! Buy American not shitty riceburners made by our friends responsible for Pearl Harbor.

  • LOL you don't know what a rice burner is, a rice burner is like a honda civic with a body kit that sounds like a fartcan the maxima on the other hand had it's engine in the worlds 10 best engines nissan been in there for over 10 years and when they compare american cars to the maxima the american car always has a v8 in it and even if the maxima get's out performed it's not by a lot, when i see american cars getting better ill give them their props

  • BEST CAR

  • i believe this car is still best to be driven with a 6 speed manual like the previous manual.... really pitiful to hear the manual only covers 2% of their sales...

  • yeah, only REAL people have the balls to use one, and aren't LAZY.

  • im really mad that it only comes as a fwd car

  • agreed!

  • i luv dis car

  • americnas u cant afford it ! u r all r bankrupts. buahahahaa

  • Just because theres a lot of companies that are bankrupt, that doesn't mean that everyone in the whole country is broke

  • lol

  • Awesome Car!

  • the presenter sounds very much like owen wilson! lol

  • The background music is SO loud!

  • seriously...where's the performance testing? this review was worse than motorweek's. at least you mentioned that you were driving around the sport package model.

  • haha maybe i should upgrade. i have a '92 maxima, and if its fast as hell, i want to know how fast a new one will go! ive got my max up to 145! and it still had more left in it!!

  • i own a white 88' a black 94' and green 94' the black one is hella faster then the green one and the green one rides really smooth,,smother than the black one and they are the same year

  • so question for 33K

which 1 should i get the nissan maxima the G35 or the new aude A4?

    which 1 is better?

  • GET AN A4

  • Don't get a A4

  • y not???????????? i recently drove in my frends car its an a4 and it rides nice and the turbos kick in

  • G35or 37...once u drive all three it wont even be a question ;)

  • my moms got one of these things its pretty fast but i have seen faster

  • Nissan should just exclude the Maxima model. The Infiniti G37 sedan outperforms, looks better, better equipped than the Nissan Maxima. Nissan Maxima starts around $31K. G37 Sedan starts around $33k. Only $2k difference, but for that money, you get so much more!

  • But with Max you get the security of FWD, potentially better gas mileage, dual panel moonroof, heated/cooled drivers seat, heated steering wheel, distinctive styling.

Those are all things the Max offers that the G doesn't.
