I love the works of Gogol. This was interesting to watch and amazing to see how they adapted the short story and what they thought it was like to live in a totalitarianism
There is a story written by Nikoli Gogol called the "over Coat" that this is based on. fascinating to watch Mr. Keaton play the main character. This tape must be rare I've never seen it. thanktou for the upload.
This appeared as an episode of the syndicated "DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS JR. PRESENTS" anthology series (aka "THE RHEINGOLD THEATER" in New York; an original "RHEINGOLD" print of this episode exists, with a slightly different opening sequence, and Fairbanks pitching Rheingold Beer during the commercials), filmed in England, and first telecast in the summer of 1954.
Thank you very much for uploading! Buster is wonderful in this.. even when he's presented with a lot of dialogue, his expressive body language cannot be beaten.

Carl Jaffe as the Tailor is excellent here, too.

Not only was Buster Keaton one of the greatest comedians of all time, he was also a fine actor. Thanks for posting this! I've been looking for it!
