Then, how do you practice in real world environments? Every MA knows that a DoJo is not the streets. Which explains why I was able to take down the Aikido Instructor. Again, I have all the respect for the Aikido Art, but when reality attacks, it becomes limited IMHO in real world situations. I studied Kempo Kung-Fu for 2 years and it was all about street combat. We created real world scenarios to practice with. Just like I did for the Aikido Sensei.

@Jraax My solution is to live in a respectable neighborhood. At age 49 I never had to engage in any physical conflict whatsoever. I suggest you spend more time educating yourself in a career and move out of the ghetto. Real world environment means you wear a shirt and tie and make enough to call this entertainment on a Saturday night, ring side, perhaps making a small wager on the winner, like a dog race.

@Jraax A martial art is just a framework. It teaches u how to correctly apply techniques. That does not mean that u will be a great fighter. It only means that you know the techniques and can teach them to others. Fighting can only come from personal experience. If this were not so then every fighter would be the same "cookie cutter image" of every other fighter. But every fighter is different! Why? Cuz even though they may have style in common each one has their own different experience.

Damn. I can't believe I have to keep explaining my remarks. It was not a kick boxing match. I approached him as an aggressive street thug with some technique. Real world fights almost always end up on the ground. Does this make the art of Aikido limited? Maybe. Sometimes. But I still respect it. I don't respect Seagal. He's just a showman to me.

Actually, the Silva footage was a staged event. Joe Rogan even debunked it.

Again, I'm not putting down the Aikido art. But real world events are a completely different arena. Why does Segal always use a little partner? Why not someone his size? I can not find one piece of footage that has an equal partner. I am very open minded. All I ask is one tournament event with Mr. Segal. Just one. There are decades of video with him. But, not one tournament.

Sniped505 - I have no doubt Aikido is the real deal. I'm just saying Steven Seagal is not doing it justice the way he performs. Too theatrical. I have sparred with an Aikido instructor. I gave him real world attacks. Believe me, I made him work for it and it showed. Yeah, I was hurting too. haha. But there was no ballet on his part. My left arm hurt for weeks from him trying to flip me like Seagal does. Never happened. I do respect Aikido. Not Seagal. It is a very impressive art. I bow to you.

I've seen real Aikido in action. Steven Seagal is a joke!!!. He's a teacher and a showman - not a real fighter. Someone show me a legit tournament fight. You can't. It's always staged ballet with the same little partner for past 20+ years.

At 6' 240lbs he won't be tossing me around like that. Grab my wrist and receive a round house at no extra charge.

Steven Seagal does train MMA fighters like Anderson Silva and that had effect when Anderson Silva defeated his opponant with that awesome kick.

Steven may be arrogant, but he is the real deal and is worshiped in japan by many masters as probably the best Aikido Student there was and now consideerd by the Japanese Masters as one of the top 10 masters in Aikido.
