@nomorerocketships This was about a year after FNM became huge with Epic. The Real Thing came out in 1989, Epic was huge in 1990, and this is in early '91 per the video description. And um, Bungle was his full time band since 1985. He just concurrently performed in both Bungle and FNM.
@nomorerocketships Yeah I'd say Patton was somewhere near his peak of his fame because Epic video had just been released a year earlier and that's when FNM got very famous. Bungle was as every bit as serious of a band as FNM was to Patton. But due to notoriety he obviously had to put more time into FNM.
The only thing I can compare this to is either Zappa, or Primus. These boys no how to rock. There is so much jazz in this I do not know what to think. I love MR Bungle. So way before their time. Travolta rocks my world every time.
looks like a midget backpack, a backpack that your midget can sit on while you do whatever your midget is preventing you from doing but you still want him/her for the company
@retardedcore Yeah the masks/costumes made for great stage presence. I honestly dont think the earlier live shows would have been as powerful without them. I wish they would have kept wearing em in the california tour..
one other reason Patton doesn't wear the bondage mask, is when they started doing crazier musical passages the mask kept him from seeing what he was doing! LOL
@darkgrungeman Yeah, I remember him Patton being interviewed when they toured California and Patton said there wouldnt be any mask wearing anymore because the music got much more technical and the masks got in the way.
While Mr. Bungle can't claim to own the legal rights to the Welcome Back Kotter theme. They were able to play it on this specific night thanks to a hastily scrawled note from "Epstein's mother"
@arstyfairie08 During Disco Volante I believe Patton ditched the tradiional leather gimp mask and wore a bunch of assorted others. One in particular look like a panty hoes.
@VodCrack But he wore a bunch of different masks. During the first album tour he mostly wore the leather bondage mask but for Disco Volante he wore a lot of different masks so why not just where another one that fit?
@MyWendal Well he said that the band's music got more complimented and the masks weren't necessary anymore. Don't ask anymore questions, I do not know him personally or anything :P

in the FNM last show in Santiago de Chile, Mike uses a mask to sing "Spirit", that makes me remember Mr. Bungle, it was so nostalgic

question: was fnm already ultra famous at this point? cuz the way patton's acting, it's like he still considers this to be his full-time band.

Patton did the bondage mask thing until the California tour as it simply didn't fit him anymore.

@VodCrack Did hes head get too big? LOL
MyWendal 1 year ago
@MyWendal His eyes didn't match up with the holes in the mask so he couldn't see what was going on :P But I see what you did there, very clever.

@VodCrack But he wore a bunch of different masks. During the first album tour he mostly wore the leather bondage mask but for Disco Volante he wore a lot of different masks so why not just where another one that fit?
