  • Think of Wudang more as a Way of doing martial arts, yes some of the forms were reconstituted to help revive Wudang and yet it is not so much whether you see it as Yang style based or what ever. Look at "How" the Wudang guys do it. Many forms are traditional and it is the way they do their footwork and the rhythm they impart to the forms. That is the essence of what any "Wudang Style" is .

  • by the way, taoism is a peaceful philosophy.

fighting is against the religion, self-defense at most.

Some smart fighters(maybe Zhang sanfeng or Chen XXX) mixed the Tai chi&taoism philosophy into their routines and fight skills. That's undoubted.

  • Tai chi is different with Tai Chi Quan.

All the martial art techs comes from the ancient human, there r great fighters in the long history, sometime comes from wudang or chen, yang families or other families. it past, never mind.

nowadays, great fighters only exist in Chen and Wang families.

if u wanna beat others, follow Master Wang ZhanJun,pls.

if u wanna peace, practise Tai Chi by uself is enough.

  • cleansing , ripples one the universe. beautiful this being - and the music fits so well.

  • OK...I will verfiy from various sources and provide you a reply!I will check with a Wudang martial arts master if I can contact him.Your remarks seems so abrupt and unsubstantiated.Maybe you do not hav ethe inclination and strong interests to learn taichi quan or sword etc., and may have been misled by others who inaccurately made such remarks.Have you been doing or trained in nay style of taichi?

  • No its not....the body movements isn't the same if u practice correctly. It is originak Wudang style taichiquan.

  • @myWudangMasters You are incorrect! There is no wudang taichi! Wudang taichi is a money making scheme to continue teaching garbage to tourists or people who dont know better. The word TAI CHI was given by a member of the WU family who were students of Yang Luchan. While luchan knew wudang, this is not his form (not even close). Please learn history before you spout untruths to the world.

  • This form is vey amazing. He`s boundless moves look like the clean water in the river. The song also is very peaceful.

  • Excellent!!! where in China I can learn this Wudang form of taiji?Plse tell me if u can and how long I should stay there.I have been doing Yang & Chen Taiji forms for 5 years now.Fast learner!!willing to sacrifice lots of time to this skill!!! thanks

  • Outstanding Master! Sheer poetry in motion with flowing perfect form.

  • truely amazing preformance

  • So many comments, so many inferences, so many theories...

The truth is out there.. find it and make references. Wudung mountain, 3 feng, and all are as real as one would believe. Near history can be documented and takes time to be distorted. 2500 years ago, well, could be narrated and make good for the present.

Believe in the power of tai chi or just appreciate the form and the art. either way you will appreciate it.

    Cheers mate

  • This is really great Tai Chi. You can see the energy flow. A great master

  • Whats the name of this music and who is it by? The music is wonderful and very soothing.

  • ti prego insegnami questa grande arte

  • This form is a modification of Yang style. I saw a nearly the same form last year @ Taoist institute on ChengQingShan, outside of ChengDu.

Those were beginning students, this guy has some good skill. All the teachers of "WuDang" Taijiquan I've spoken with seem clear that the current source of it comes from Yang System.

  • it looks somehow like yang zi tai, but when you practice, you feel complete different energy

  • Not quite, this is the original tai chi form that all other styles and related forms are derived from. My source is from a wudang priest Yun Xiang Tseng (Chen). Zang Sanfeng is credited by most as being the originator of tai chi.

  • Not really true.MOST scholars credit Tai Chi as having come from the 32 Posture Tai tzu Chang Chuan from Shaolin Temple. I can even see the entire set INSIDE the old Chen style form, and all the techniques are found through out all Tai Chi styles as well.

The Zang Sanfeng legend was discredited as myth quite throughly some time ago.

  • In truth, Tai chi chuan derives from thousands of years of Taoist spiritual practices and martial arts, and is said to have been developed by Taoists, not by the Chen family who later learned it from a Taoist and mixed it in with their own family martial arts which was more external. Besides, when Bhodidharma reformed the Shaolin temple, thus setting the groundwork for what was later to become Shaolin MA he took much knowledge from the already existing arts of Taoism and combined it with what...

  • chen used to have entire wudang sets that they practiced, then they modified the tai zu changquan which was practised by the family before introduction to taijiquan, changing the changquan with the principles of the taichi sets. then the wudang forms became less prevelent after chen changxing created 1st and 2nd road, so yang luchans generation where the last to learn all of the original forms like the 108 or 13 postures which yang learned and is said to have openly accreditted to wudang.

  • with all of the legends and tall tales it is easy to not believe in zhang sanfeng.

the real answer most likely is that people discovered TaiJiquan thousands of years before, now the daoist temple will claim it was made by there saint guy, and the the chen village will always say it was made by their great grandfathers, then there are those who say otherwise like me!

my grandpa made it in ireland in 1892 then he taught all of the chinese in one day. and using mind wash qigong faked the history.

  • ask people at wudang mountain it is not yang or chen, why would they all copy yang and then have better skill and then sprinkle in chen sun and wu applications, plus have the entire philosophy and transmission that only indoor students of chen and yang get. why would these monks have all of the techniques and secrets of all styles compiled together? because the chen village used to practice wudang form and passed it down to yang luchan, your history is deficient

  • @oldpineboy - I appreciate the post and please don't misunderstand; I'm not trying to be critical, but....

Wouldn't Yang Style be a modification of this? Meaning it was created later, after

Master Zhang San-feng first created the 13-postures??? In my lineage, we always uphold Master Zhang as the creator, and anything else that comes later would be the "modification".

    Regards- John

  • @ContinuosChange Hey good post. I see your point, adding to that; the only true "taijiquan" is Yang LuChan's Taijiquan. It was *his* art that was officially named Taijiquan by a poet of his time. That is certainly not to say earlier versions of the art did not exist the 13 postures especially. Some traditions even go as far as dating the 13 postures at 1000BC, far older than Zhang SanFeng. On Wudang "taijiquan", technically it never existed until Yang LuChan. (just technically) :D

    Respectfully

  • @oldpineboy I realize this is an old comment but, I'd like to express my gratitude in discovering someone else who shares the same impression. I've had a sort of "pet theory" that after the cultural revolution; etc, when many wudang arts were lost, the temple practitioners used Yang Family Taijiquan as a template to rebuild their own Taijiquan. I've noticed it in fist forms, but most notably in the traditional sword forms. Is there any documentation of Yang influence on Wudang?

    Respectfully

  • Amazing!I have never seen tai chi performed so naturaly and with such flowing precision. Even when still,he is still moving. This master probably knows something we don't. Very inspiring.

  • i don't understand what you mean by-when he's still,he is still moving.Isn't he constantly moving about?

  • At the end of a move you would expect to have a short time of stillness before the next one begins, but this master always manages to stay in motion. Sometimes, his spine seems to be making small circles or his feet are moving or he is moving back and forth, there is always movement.

  • nice

  • this is one of the zeniths of human civilization.

  • Very nice, thanks for sharing that with us.

~I have a question: What are the carved stone tablets behind him? Steles/Grave Markers?

    Thank You!

  • The stones in the background show list of names, people who sponsored the temple.

By the way, this is the same sequence as shown by one of your subscribtions: ZhangSanfeng TaijiQuan wudanggongfu

  • ~Thank you very much!
