  • That has to be the heaviest Bell 212 ever, Tanked with a winch and snow pads on the skids? WTH? WIth a medium like a 212 HP over the skids two at a time is fine. Maybe a long ranger has C.O.G. Issues requiring inside skid rappells but not this machine. Nice machine but hot and high you have to drop some weight.

  • the reason they go trough the skids one at a time is so that the pilot can basically keep the machine 'steady', as to not lose the center of gravity (COG)...the closer the sloppy wieight is to the middle of the machine, the easier it is to keep the machine straight and level

  • So why do they go through the skids one at a time instead of over two at a time? I understand on a jet-ranger but why a bell?

  • My sister was a member of RAP during the 90's and into the new millenium. The youngest is still working with heli-attack out of the penticton base.
