This is definately of the metalcore genre (and I'm not only stating that because of wikipedia).

As for those who think this is "melodic" - just because the guitarist uses more than just the first, second, and third frets doesn't make it melodic in any way. What truly defines melodic pieces is usually some form of keyboard stanzas throughout the song, not just for an eerie and tranquil sounding opener / conclusion.

P.S. I don't mean to trample on anyone's opinion, just stating what is.
