@mrgoodvibrations depends on state and county. I will tell you though its a lot cheaper to just build the house out of cob. You can find a lot of vids on y.t. and info on the net of how to build it and what materials to use. rounded shape houses are a lot stronger then square houses.
If you Google "compressed earth block", you'll find *lots* of hits, included plans to build your own manual press. One suggestion that keeps popping up is to use "stabilized compressed earth blocks", for even more strength.
Here are some other links that should be of help in your mission:

Pretty cool. Rent one of these things for a day or two and crank out enough blocks for a simple home, I would think. Great info. Thanks for posting this vid.
I don't know the actual base price of the machine because we had transportation, spare parts, and a few other things in our final bill. I suspect the machine itself is around $25,000. The company that makes it is called AECT.
We are still learning, but our first couple of buildings here in Africa are looking pretty strong! pleabargain, the blocks interlock by virtue of the pattern you lay them in - the walls aren't just one block wide.
@JasonPAtkins Would you be kind enough to tell me who the manufacturer of this machine is? We help people built homes using adobe in central america and a machine like this would be of great help. Thank you!
The question is, will CEB's work in the humid conditions in San Antonio? Another question people here bring up, is whta they call a "rising water table".
