Gameplay is this game's problem. It just goes too far from RPG and into Platforman. The characters are largely primitive shapes. It's a far cry from the other Paper Mario games.

You do realize that Ness was among the few who were originally going to save the world. Ness, the character Sakurai's been trying to out since Melee. Not to mention the character development Lucas goes through...

Ness and Lucas are in Brawl for the sheer lolz of it. Sakurai knows for a fact we Europeans aren't allowed to even know Mother exists yet he sticks them in Smash Bros. I think it's pretty obvious that's a middle finger mate. XD Hell he spoils a shitload of Mother 3 even. Regardless though yes Kirby bias is high in Smash Bros especially in the Subspace. If you need proof go ahead and play through again. Comments page don't carry enough for the mentions. =D I will say this though. Kirby's foot. XD

The Mother series is very very very very very popular in Japan, and Brawl verifies this, because both main characters are in it. And Mother 3's been out in Japan for about a year before Brawl was, so they haven't spoiled anything. Well, for the Japanese they didn't.

Well that really wasn't my point but okay. XD But in regards to the spoiling I'd have to say yes and no on that. I myself can't really remember if I played Mother 3 before Brawl or the other way around but yeah Ness and Lucas (especially Lucas) were more or less just well played trolls on everyone but the Japanese. Lucky we have emulators thank God but still. He probably just stuck in main plot secrets figuring we'd never get our hands on the game.

From what I hear the huge Kirby in Brawl was due to the fact that he held back on adding Kirby stuff in the last two games (he wanted Dedede in Smash 64 and Meta Knight in Melee, for example) in deference to other Nintendo franchises he felt deserved more attention, until someone told him to start adding Kirby stuff. At which point he went nuts with it.

This is the best peice of music written for any Mario game for the Wii, in my opinion.
