Suppose the G8 had AWD and got to launch from near redline he would have smoked anything on any street. Since this is a G8 GT he has an automatic, and started from near idle, and the fact that it is a public road he had a car in the way and probably dirt on the road which DOESN'T effect the AWDs as much. Also the fact that the STi's were launching hard means they were probably beefed up. Line themup on the track, I'dlove tosee that race!

STI have great traction, I have seen them take off on a lot of cars at the track. Short runs they have a good chance at beating alot of cars, put some distance on it and it will be a different story.

The WRX flogs the holdens/G8 easy.

They have a 4cyl motor with the turbo gets up on boost quick and gets going quick as well, if it was a race the Holden/G8 would kill the WRX as the WRX only has a top speed between 200 to 250 where as the Holden/G8 goes up 300.

of course the G8 will do over 300kph, it's a V8, have enough road and yeah it will, unless the US ones are speed locked.

What speeds do you think the stock V8 holden's do in Australia?

With a chip upgrade the highway cop cars do over 300kph even with the lights on top.

Hell the V6 Holden's do around 260-280kph.

Look at the speeds the V8 supercars do and they are only 600HP V8s

the g8 gt was stock. i cant see why anyone would mod it. it comes 361 stock hp lol. but the lil 4 bangers are around 400 plbs lighter...srt4's and wrx's walk all over the pontiac wit eazzz...moded of course. still the g8 is impressive for pontiac. better than GTO!

What makes the G8 better than the GTO ... the lesser HP, the more weight or the extra doors? FYI, neither one is a Pontiac.

both are great cars, but in the track the g8 wins..

for straight line ill go with the gto, as a daily driver and on the track to shut those ricers up with theyr "yea well its only fast in a straight line" id go with the g8.. they both have theyr ups and downs, but with the holden "g8" being newer it has more features and newer technology therefore its a lil better in some ways..

G8 GT is about 750lb heaver than the wrx. the new GXP is pushing about 390 RWH, because shes fat and need more power to push it.
