America has no intention of leaving Iraq. We plan on establishing and maintaining major military bases in the image and scale of our facilities in Germany and Japan for force projection as leverage in the region. American military personnel and mercenary "private contractors" are there to stay.
@M14Mann just look for sensitive bills like audit the fed and see who voted for and against. after 3-4 bills you will see who votes consistently and who does not. Ron Paul is a king of voting consistently :)
I personally don't keep track of it since I'm a Canadian and have other stuff to worry about, but check out this video for example: watch?v=XdpbD99IqAg, Dan Burton questions Bernanke, or this one: watch?v=yjrn11X-ehU about health care bill. I think he should be a good man.
The US would have to fire-sale every asset that it has in Africa, the middle east and central Asia, and repatriate millions of US citizens. But since it is foreign assets that the US is living off, Americans would also have to relinquish a 40-hour working week, state/federal pensions, a minimum wage, and anything else that they now enjoy because of government intervention. Conquering Afghanistan is hardly impossible, given that the US and its allies, defeated the Nazis and the Japanese.
@charlessmyth if it was so easy to conquer Afghanistan, then someone would have done it. You are figthing a group of people whose culture/ religion is completely different than that of the west. We won those battles, because the enemies were clearly defined. we were basically fighting the nations of japan and germany, the three guerilla wars we have fought, we have lost; Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan
@siti1ca Afghanistan could be conquered without a boot on the ground. The major population centres are easily identified, and could be hosed down with VX or Novichok nerve agents, over a weekend. Japan and Germany were defeated by the allies, because the allies were determined to defeat them.
We fight so that the citizens of the west can have a 40 hour working week, state/federal pensions, a minimum wage, social security and healthcare schemes, etc. Just like the refugees & migrant labour prefer, when they flee their homelands and seek/take refuge in the west. IOW, there wouldn't be a here/refuge for anyone to be, if we were not over there, to safeguard our natural resources, that make our technologies and way of life possible. Afghans can choose: Be cooperative, or get the hammer.
@charlessmyth I see so what you're saying is that slaughtering 1million innocent Iraqis, displacing 4million so you can watch tv and consume more shit is justified. You're a fucking idiot.
"to safeguard our natural resources" - they are not yours. And FYI, the US (that means you) is a nation of immigrants.
If TV was not watched, there would be no TV factories, no TV programmes, the media and associated industries would be much less in demand, and there would be much less, highly paid employment. The west financed, explored for, discovered, extracted and distributed the products that it is possible to create from the glop that would still be lying underground. The Iranians, Iraqis and Saudis, are paid to not blow up the oil wells and pipelines. And they get to watch TV, too, genius :-)
They would be oil rich countries if they had accomplished the exploration, discovery, extraction and processing of the glop that lies hundreds or thousands of metres below ground, and then offered the oil products to the market. You offered the example of the TV industry as something that was trivial, when it is not. Yes, we could live without TV, but we could also live without oil from the 'oil rich countries', but what they do then.
@avoozl07 LOL you must have gotten an arctic brain freeze if you think Canadians are any different than Americans when it comes to pretty much ANY of the issues facing either country.
@avoozl07 1)There was no declaration of war from Congress. You mean the conflict in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom).... 2) "combat operations" have ended, but 50,000 troops remain... and they're getting combat pay for staying. 3) Although "combat operations" have ended, our soldiers are still being killed and wounded.
I can continue... but I'm hoping that by now, you can see "where I'm at".
@avoozl07 Fair enough, my apologies. I ran out of allotted characters on my response, and I was too lazy to get to my point... (although I think I answered your question in a round-about way)
Anyway, I was going to mention that although Canada is out of Iraq; Your country still has a military presence in the middle-east. (How many Canadian troops are in Afghanistan? Taking into consideration the difference in the size of our two armies, Canada is playing a pretty big role).
Ron Paul knows it takes more than military invasions to win the hearts/minds of free peoples. Set by example and work together for mutual strength liberty respect and success. THIS MAN OF AMERICAN PRINCIPLE SHOULD BE PRESIDENT NOT LIAR OBAMA who pretends his Obama/Bush 'war on terror' is over in the middle east. Not lies of 'national defense': UNRESTRAINED COSTLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL ever expanding military adventurism!
These radicals don't hate us because we are free and prosperous, they hate us because we taking sides in petty foreign affairs! Anybody who cares about world stability/peace can see Paul cares deeply for doing what is right. Paul would truly work with nations around the world, not liar Obama who says he would end the war than pretends like this Obama/Bush 'war on terror' is over in the middle east. RON PAUL should be president, NOT LIAR OBAMA!
***LISTEN UP*** RON PAUL IS NOT GOING TO GET ELECTED **UNLESS** HE IS SELECTED IN THE ***REPUBLICAN PRIMARY*** SO IF YOU ARE NOT A "REPUBLICAN" REGISTER AS ONE AND VOTE FOR HIM IN THE PRIMARY!!!
IF WE CAN GET HIM THROUGH THE PRIMARY HE WILL EASILY WIPE OUT OBAMA OR ANYONE ELSE IN ANY DEBATE!!!
I thank God for Ron Paul but I feel that I'm in a nightmare that he's the only one in Congress with any integrity and constitutional principles. How could it be that he's essentially the only righteous person in an institution filled with corrupt demons?
Of all of Ron Paul's interviews, this has to be one of my favorites. He's clear and concise, and for once the interviewer is respectful and not asking him stupid questions or patronizing him.
@ReverendsChannel Agreed! This was unusually good. Ron Paul is always FREAKING AWESOME, but he's even better in this interview and hits HARD on all the topics so quickly and clearly.
LMAO...Ron I just had this discussion with disbelieving coworkers last night. Oh no, they wouldn't believe the mercenary numbers (its a conspiracy), so now I will forward them this video. Thank you.
I bet they still refuse to believe. People can be so dumb. lol
we're not out, were still there with tons of private contractors and some of our military is still there giving "advise" to Iraqis. Something tells me there's going to be more deaths when most of the troops leave.
@mkauai2 He will, but he cannot announce it until February 2011 at the earliest due to those pesky federal regulations. His demeaning has always indicated that he will run again. Baring any major health problems Ron will again be a Presidential candidate. His support grew at least two fold since the 2008 elections. The question is if the Republican party drums him out again, will he run as an Independent or a Libertarian? I would love to see a Ron Paul/Gary Johnson 2012 ticket.
If Ron Paul had a calm, deep and resonant voice he would have been President.
