Way to go Mr. Dunlap. Proving once again that we all miss oportunities to make a good honest buck. How many of us have held a bag of stuff like concrete, or ice for instnce and never put 2+2 together? If you have an idea don't sit on it. Record it then go see an invention assistance company. Even if your afraid they'll rip you off. "Remember; you miss every pitch you don't swing at"! You've got nothing to loose if it flops, but if you never try you are sure to loose. 2+2=$
wow, this is some shit. I can mix the same bag in a 5 gallon bucket with a electric drill attachment a lot faster and cost effective than this. Imagine mixing 5 or more back the same way and how it fuck up your back. A wheel barrel with a hoe will work just fine but if you are mixing just one bag this size then you can even do it in a garbage can with a large metal spoon.
If that's an 80lb bag of quikrete, then 3 quarts of water need to be added. Adding more than this weakens the cure strength - but does help mixing the concrete by eliminating clumping and increasing its workability. If that's a 1 gal pitcher he's using, 0:09 suggests that he's using almost 4 quarts of water. Perhaps this explains why the text in the video keeps on occluding the view of the water level... :(
@shep30391 why? so I can sell 25 cent plastic garbage bags? LOL this is an insanely amateurish and very poor method to properly mix concrete, if you dont thoroughly get it all mixed you wind up with bad concrete and blobs of improperly mixed stuff breaking off or flaking. Gawd, this is like changing your oil using one of those thru-the-dipstick suction things, yeah it works, no mess, but leaves all the sludge and crud in the pan!
I guess you only say that "it does not thoroughly mix" because YOU HAVE NEVER TRIED MIXING A BAG OF CONCRETE using the Reusable Concrete Mixing Bag. Go buy one and try it and if you do not like it, take it back because it has a Money Back Guarantee! Thousands of people LOVE the Reusable Concrete Mixing Bag but you will never know till you try it.
I have a hunch that since this guy hasn't logged in here in over a year, his bags didn't sell well, I've never seen them anywhere.
Marketing them would be the biggest problem, plus it could be hard for someone to slosh around 60# of concrete plus the water that way, hard on the back. Much easier to just mix it in smaller batches in a plastic utility tub like I use, just use a hoe, shovel or rubber gloves.
Sorry for not logging on. (My computer hard drive was replaced and I didn't take the time to search for the Youtube login code.) Sales have been good. The Reusable Concrete Mixing Bags are in ACE, Do It Best, Menard's, True Value. Selling over 100 every week.
@CementSolution Well I sure don't fault you for making a buck on this, it's fine for someone who is just setting a mailbox post or a couple of fence posts in concrete, but any more than that it's just easier to use a re-useable plastic utility tub.
I work with 94# bags of Portland as I mix my own formula with fine quartz sand, and 100# bags of hydrocal by the 40 bag pallet, so I know all about how heavy 60# bags get after a while. You never need to mix 60# at once, you mix in small batches.
@urbansculptures There's no reason at all to mix up a whole 60# bag, you can divide it in half and add water enough to make it stiff but workable, and not soupy, once you mix an entire bag, if it's too soupy- (every bag may need the water varied slightly depending on the dryness of the sand and absorbancy of hte particles) you may have no more dry material with which to stiffin it up, as a result you get lousy concrete you are stuck with. You never want to mix ALL your dry material at once!
@urbansculptures The Reusable Concrete Mixing Bag is for the homeowner or Do It Yourselfer who needs to mix a few bags of concrete. it is Quick and does not make a mess or involve any clean up. I would not suggest it for your "custom mix" process, however, if you have your formula "down to a science" , then I'd like you to try if for the mixing process. It really does take all of the "MESS" out of mixing and when you want to pour it into your forms, it goes exactly where you want & No Clean Up!
@urbansculptures THAT is exactly what the Bag is designed for. The man or woman who needs to mix a few bags of ready mix concrete and wants to get the job done Quickly and with minimal mess and clean up. it is The World's Fastest Concrete Mixer.
@CementSolution Well, making GOOD concrete that will last should never be about how FAST you can do it, you only want to do the job ONCE, you don't want to have to go back next summer and replace or start patching areas that have defects.
INOVATION and invention...what America was founded on is costing America jobs? you are a fuckin moron, if anything the creation of a new product creates MORE jobs you dumb ass.
I NEED TO CEMENT MY BACKYARD BUT I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY SOMEONE TO DO IT CAN I DO IT SLOWLY ON MY OWN PIECE BY PIECE ? AND CAN I DO IT BY MIXING MY OWN CEMENT PLEASE RESPOND BEFORE I GO BUY THE CEMENT AND START DOING IT .. iVE NEVER DONE CEMENT BUT IT DOESNT LOOK TO HARD IS IT ?
Of course you can. It all depends on the quality and extension required by the project, but if you have a friend who is a builder ask for advice first to have the general idea. When you do a job for the first time there are always unexpected issues popping up. And look for videos related to the job you are about to do.
I like how the bag minimzes the dust, your lungs will appreciate it. I bet the bag is polyethylene. Very few items will stick to it.
If I was using your bag a lot I would put it on a low table to save my back. Liked your video, it was short and to the point.
If a person was an amateur and laying bricks alone he might want to make small batches of mortar at a time, your bag might come in handy. Thanks buddy!
I used the same principle for ages with strong rubble bags available at any decent DIY store. The bag does not have to be transparent. It is good to spread the idea though.
I guess I learn something every day. So why do the makers of these Ready Mix "concrete" products such as Quikrete, Sakrete, Packmix call it "Concrete" on their packaging?
If I was pouring a driveway, I'd call the truck. The Reusable Concrete Mixing Bag is for jobs that take less than 1 yard of concrete. Small pads, mailbox posts, fence post, steps, etc.
The bag mixed in the video was a 60lb bag of ready mixed concrete. It was not "sand mix" as you suggest.
I think you answered your own question. It works! No Tools required! No Mixer! No Clean up! And if your tried to mix concrete in any other bag (like a trash bag) I guarantee that you would be disappointed. Our Mixing Bag is 700% thicker than a trash bag. For your next concrete project I will send you a free sample.
@CementSolution Oh good grief, how hard is it to mix concrete without adding more disposable petroleum based plastic waste to the landfills? I don't know which makes me laugh more, a guy in a suit and tie mixing concrete or the idea propagated that dumping in water like that and sloshing it around makes good concrete. I often use a plastic tray that costs $3.99 and lasts a long time if you don't bend it. Rubber gloves and that's it.
shoveling concrete in and from a plastic tub is a pain, the cloud of dust is a pain and a hazard, this guy is actually pretty clever. i've been using a big plastic bucket for a small project and i can telll you that sucked ass. the plastic sack idea is pretty clever.
@omgwtfbbqstfu how it is a pain?? You dont need to shovel the cement in at all, you open the bag and turn it upside down in the tray and lift the bag off, the cement is left in the tray, you add the water and mix, wow, that's real difficult!
The method shown here is fine for ONE or TWO fence posts or something, but thats it, you start doing this with 50 or 94# bags and you'll soon find out how what a pain lifting and sloshing that bag becomes. You dont get a THOROUGH mix this way!
true it does seem to work, no tools required, no mixer to clean but why would anyone in their right mind buy your "invention" when a heavy plastic bag will be and do exactly the same thing?
No offense taken. One additional advantage of the reusable concrete mixing bag is that there are no tools to clean up when the mixing is done. And I'd still take your challenge. $10 says I can mix and pour a bag faster than anyone using a bucket and shovel.
I was using the wooden form to make a splash block for my down spout. When it has set up and dried, I removed the 1X4 wood frame and the project is done.
And if you had a lot of pork chops to cook (a BIG Bar-B-Q) maybe it could work as a Very Big "Shake-N-Bake" bag. Or you could use it to build that new outdoor grill.
As an old lady I think I can even do this. It will help me complete some of my landscaping improvements myself that I thought I would have to contract out.
