One of the few ideas tossed around that I find the craziest is the "no planes theory". It's a theory so completely without merit, I can't believe anyone would even entertain it. Ignoring the large amount of witnesses that saw the plane via in person or live footage, there's still one important fact. Holographic technology is not that good now or back in 2001. We're still a decade or two away from making a holograhm that would look convincing enough to fool people.

I actually heard there's a small group that thinks a beam from space blew up the towers. I'd imagine there might even be a group that think the hologram theory and the space beam theory go together. I could see Alex dismissing the no planers/hologrammers etc because his movement is moving and debate about specs now, could be considered divisive.
