Good vibrations to you Rahil! Nice version of George's classic. I was close to running out of petrol once on a long lonely road, and I got all the passengers to chant hari krishna and we got to a garage despite seeming to have no petrol in the tank for about 15 miles!

'Hinduism' is a coined term for practitioners of the Vedic scriptures given by the Mohammedans who lived on the banks of the Sindhu river because of not being able to pronounce the 'S' in 'Sindhu' - so those people who practiced certain aspects of the Vedic dharma became known as 'Hindu'

Those 'Hindus' subscribe to the 'karma-khand' (worship of various demigods for gain) sections of the Vedic dharma, which is not the actual Aim of Spirituality/Dharma - Love for GOD/Krishna is the actual Goal.

Actual practice of the Vedic conclusion ('Sanatan-Dharma') is therefore not 'Hinduism'

Vaishnavism is the actual pure practice of the Vedic system - worship of Bhagavan Sri Krishna in accordance to the Vedic scriptures, Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavata Purana.

that said, i am not personally 'a devotee' myself - i try to do what i can (chant the Names of Krishna, etc.) because i know that Krishna is God.

being a 'devotee' and calling oneself a 'devotee' is a serious thing :-)

I use the term Hindu as merely a "category of knowledge" (comparative eastern Western theology was my focus as an undergrad).

I loved your answer. I believe that the Vedic text is a great source of wisdom and enlightenment as well- Though I too am not a practitioner. I enjoy pranayamic breathing.
