  • @djoutrage18 I have dozens and dozens of episodes on tape and CD. I never missed an episode of from 1980 until it was axed in late 1984.

  • Great Tiger Rag , I remember Brian Rust's Mardi Gras when I first came upone it was in 1974 and then it was on about the same time as jazz record requests Saturday from 5pm -6 pm so i switching from radio 3 to capital radio so as not to miss anything.

why are the jazz programes so poor these days ,I bought a lot of records thanks to mardi gras anymore like me ALAN MORLAND<DREFACH,LLANELLI,WALES

  • Thank you for posting this. In the 70's as a teenager, it was Brian's show on Sundays that started me off on a lifetime's love of "hot dance music and all that jazz"!

  • At last I found it here!! This is easily the BEST version of Tiger Rag I have hear so far, and I've heard them plenty! It's so much fun, so fast, lively, diverse, with different instrument solos, and funny vocals ;-) Very hot!

  • A belated sigh from me too - I rarely missed Brian Rust's Mardi Gras and still treasure some of the cassette recordings I made at the time. Sadly, Brian is now in a care home and has no memory of the great legacy he gave to jazz and dance music lovers. 5*

  • @fatsfan70 I have to correct you. Brian was never in a care home. He died after a long illness in Jan 2011. I used to talk to him on the phone from time to time until shortly before the end. A very nice man.

  • Kiss me where the sun don't shine

  • This was the theme-tune of the "Mardi Gras" radio show on Capital Radio, hosted by the famous jazz discographer Brian Rust.

  • My Grandfather, Carl Skinner played drums on this recording. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks!! I remember the show well.

I was looking for this version. One of the best (though the Harry Reser and the Louis Armstrong versions are pretty good too!
