@frustratingjapan and @TheArtOfGreenTea I agree. I bought my whisk, but in most match a videos, they tell you not to touch the bowl to the bottom. Is this true?
By the way, I just bought my Matcha whisk the other day and was told that it should not actually touch the bowl, as it'll wear out quickly. Are you able to verify this? Have you heard of this? PS: Love the ending outtakes.
Have you two been to Japan? This is a GREAT instructional video, EXACTLY what I was looking for. Don't worry about the pronunciation (Negr0zzy) - when we speak a different language, of course we'll have an accent! Thanks for the great video, I'm about to enjoy my own Matcha.
Cool video... I just feel like your pronunciations of the Japanese words are a little Americanized. Like your "a" in "matcha" sounds kinda twangy. In hiragana its spelled まっちゃ which would actually be maccha in romanized lettering. The double "c" denotes kind of like a hard emphasis that is pronounced with just as much time as the vowels are pronounced.
I love macha but I've found it to be very expensive. But I recently found the best place to buy macha. The wisdom teashop. check their website You won't be disappointed if you get it here!!!
Their macha pronunciation is sooo funny. It should be maaacha
I need to get into matcha (it's expensive as hell, but it's SOO good). right now, I'm into sencha, gyokuro, genmaicha, and oolong (if you haven't ever had oolong, it is amazing, although it tastes completely different from any other type of tea. even within itself, the taste can be anything from honeysuckle to ripe apples)
Don't get us wrong though, there are many things in Japanese culture that we strongly enjoy. However, we enjoy them for what they are, not solely because they're Japanese.
If you dont have a whisk try a little water to make a paste then a little more stiring till all disloved. dont expect it to taste like a proper cup of tea , but you have to admire great marketing .
I'd have to say I think the most important tool for making matcha is the whisk, before i had one i was trying to use mixers and stuff, but nothing stacks up with an actual chasen for making matcha.
Glad to hear you're getting into Matcha! How does it taste? It has a very strong taste, maybe even a little bitter, but it's really good. Yeah, ordering the whisk is a good idea. In the meantime, you may want to try using a "normal" whisk, or even better, one of those milk frothers.
Yeah I guess I meant this whisk. The thing you stir with =]. I'm glad I watched this video. My Matcha arrived today and I was just doing to stir it with a spoon haha. So I guess I'll order a Bamboo Wisk first. How does it taste? I've been dying to drink some!!
Hey everyone! We've made up a competition that you may be interested in! To check out the details, please go to the bulletin named "Competition!!!" on our channel.
It's an ongoing competition, so it's never too late to start. Good Luck!
good video, i need to get a whisk. I bought some matcha from T2 and I end up with lumps settling at the bottom of the cup and i cant get it frothy mixing with a fork lol.
Yeah, you need the whisk. A way to cut down on lumps is by straining your Matcha. If you have a little one, like stainless steal tea strainer, try using that!

What's that wooden thing called? And when you're done stirring it you can drink it right away?
xian67 2 years ago
I think you are referring to one of two things:
1) the "Chashaku" (which is the scoop)
2) the "Chasen" (which is the whisk).
Actually, both are made of bamboo.
And yes, you can drink matcha as soon as you're done stirring :-)
