I have seen it, I was very shocked with what they going through, I agree with u. I am now beginning to doubt religion as result of these abuse in the churches. These Childrens having convulsions in churches and speaking in tounges are very distrubing. However I know someone from my LDS church who said about evangelical christians not wanting to say what was said in tounges or saying it is hebrew for something
Hi,We have organized a new meetup group in South Florida
(called South Florida Survivors of Sociopaths ) . We have had a similar
personal experience with misconduct by a West Palm DCF child abuse investigator who lied and helped the abuser..If you have have survived past abuse by a Narcissist Personality Disorder man (AKA Sociopath)Please check out our Meetup group .Good luck in your journey of healing!! God Bless You
I did NOT know that such young children were being brought to tears over their 'sins' until yesterday when I caught a clip of Becky Fischer. I was shocked and apalled that people were allowing this delusional woman to use their kids to fuel her power trip. I totally agree with your assessment and I hope she's been at the very least severely curtailed in her maniacal 'ministry'.
Well said. This IS child abuse, and we should not be afraid to say so. I was indoctrinated into the Christian faith as a child, but by the age of 15 I was too smart for them (modesty aside); I had learned critical thinking skills.
i believe in god, but i agree that children are too often force-fed which religion to follow. as people have said, the child mind is much too fragile too comprehend such issues as god, heaven, and hell. it's ridiculous. i completely understand why people become atheist, after all, much of this worlds evils have been carried on under the name of their "proper god". please don't believe that all believers are ignorant and idiotic. to me, as long as you believe in ethical rules, you're ok by me.
Religion...god...HA! I watched alot of thinks on youtube, what proves that god doesnt exist! hahahahah i will never fall to the religion side! Everyone...stay strong...
Pretty much everyone has summed up what I was going to say. This movie has really opened my eyes up,and I think I seen this in my very late christain days, before I became an atheist.
This movie had a lot of crazy crap.I understand them trying to teach kids about Christanity, but killing themselves in the name of their god is scary.I think there was one scene where the kids smashed the cups with hammers, which I think had something about being anti-goverment.
Man, I know exactly what you mean in this video. I was raised in a Jesus-freak church, and while I do believe in the general idea of it, I think the entire way the whole religion is organized is almost horrifying.
It just instill this fear of your own nature, and a fear of questioning the world around you. It limits the child's mind, and creates a distorted worldview. Luckily, I got out alive, but I feel bad for those trapped in that environment.
I think you misunderstood him slightly. The children who were "not abused" were the children he saw at his family outing where he was making the video. He was comparing them, and their happiness, to the misery of the children at Jesus Camp. Who can know what a variety of backgrounds they had?
Thank you sir for your insights. I have to differ with you on one point. You say that these kids appear well cared for, loved, etc. Children naturally seek for approval and acceptance from those they love and trust. These kids seem to clearly have received a message that that safety and security is contingent on their compliance with this dogma. I looked at those faces and they are NOT those of safe, secure, truly loved children. They are faces as if with guns to their heads.
I identify with BuzzardlyThings.. I am only 15, and I've been going to a Catholic school for 10 years where I heard some truly disturbing things about homosexuals like me. It caused so much strife for me, than I cannot imagine what a gay child attending Jesus Camp would have to put up with.
Evangelists rape the mind while it's young, using powerful hormonal reactions to hard wire their young. They themselves aren't in their right minds to begin with. Essentially an endless cycle of terror. :(
Yes. Child abuse. I grew up in a fundamentalist christian church. Being gay, I was constantly harassed and intimidated from the pulpit as some abomination who chose to be evil. It messed up my head. Difficulty adjusting, addiction and abandonment issues plague my life. Fundamentalism is a mental illness, akin to addiction and rape. The ends always justify the means, with NO guilt or thought about what is done in "god's" name. EVIL!
Religious Indoctrination of Children is Child Abuse. It must stop. They should let them develop their minds first than make the choice. I grew up in a fundamentalist church also, I was also really into the bible. It fucked me up to say the least.
Bang on.I agree.I think your link between sexual abuse (where, in cases, there can be strong emotional arousal and manipulation) and the emotional manipulations of Jesus camp is correct. It's only when they are adults that they can look back and say "Oh! What was happening back there!" and then have to come to terms with their parents complicity. And take years to pick up the fragments of their lives and their identities...
I just finished watching Jesus Camp and can honestly say it was just as disturbing to me as watching the radical Muslims preaching hate and terrorist ideals. I agree that these radical tactics are the equivalent of child abuse and the Evangelical leaders of these groups are nothing more than cult leaders who get off on controlling others. I was totally disgusted....and yes I am a Christian.
I believe that indoctrinating children at such a manner and young age, will cause a lot emotional scarring. Especially since they've learned not to do anything "for the flesh" and only for god.... But wouldn't this just lead to severe social awkwardness and paranoia? Perhaps anger and self righteousness when seeing others in sin...
No doubt that these children be damaged in one way or another, but I don't understand how you reached some of your conclusions, such a alcoholism, crime, etc.
What happens at these camps and in these homes and churches is where it all begins, where we learn to become adults who not only continue to eat shit but hold open our wallets for the shit merchants to take from as well. And it's not just something that starts in religious institutions. It happens everywhere that critical thinking is suppressed. (We're taught to think, but not HOW to think.)
This isn't to say that religion is inherently dangerous, though certain religions, due to the original intent of their sacred texts, are more prone to extremism than others. A believer can interpret the Bible however he wants: he can lean towards the New Testament God of love, or he can favor the Old Testament God of wrath (that's the trouble with a bi-polar Bible). Either God is an inconsistent head case or there are actually two different "One Gods."
wow wise words my friend that is exacly what it is extreme emotional abuse on children how can something so innocent be fed such crap i did not know how to put my thoughts in words after watching that movie but you sure did it for me. Is amazing how this can go on. I am interested to here what you think is this any different from what the kids in the flds yfz rach in el dorado texas? what you think?
Damm, i totally agree with what you have to say, emotional abuse of children to get them to 'support' you makes cults look good. And it resembles dictatorship, using fear and manipulation to get support, assholes
I completely agree with your opinion on the way in which children were being manipulated, cruely, in the film. I fo course made the mistake of discussing abtout this film with a girl in class. By pissing off some other people in the class who overheard us, I learned quickly what evangelicals are taught to do to people like me.
Sorry, people don't have the right to teach children lies. ANd all religion falls into that category. Theology? Please, theology is religion for the people who KNOW that it's all fairy tales.
I completely agree with you. It's people like this who are making the world a worse place to live. Not because that's their intent, but because they are so naive about everything, they don't even realize they're doing it.
I think you are wrong. The people behind the Jesus Camps, the Christian Identity movement, DO intend to cause violence, to incite hatred and they are most definitely living up to the intelectual bankruptcy that is the Christian religion. There are THOUSANDS of these camps.
There are many fundamentalist camps, I am sure. I remember being made to feel terrible about masturbation at one of them. It is what caused me to feel emotional numbness for the first time. Kill Christianity, it chains the mind and kills the future.
Kids should not be religiously indoctrinated. They should be allowed to make the choice when they are older. Their minds aren't developed enough to deal with what they are being fed. From my experiences as a Christian and now an ExChristian, I am now a total, 100 percent proud anti-theist, i hate religion. It is for the weak and those that don't want to think. If I offended you, I don't care.
I dont get offended. I also hate religion. And how man has completely crapped on it. Don;t talk to me like you have something to prove because you don't. You do what you gotta do. You don't have to explain yourself to me. Me and you are on the same page pretty much, as far as s tuff like this goes.
Well, if that is the case, then you are totally correct. I don't have anything to prove to you, because you see the truth and aren't blinded by your own selfishness, like a lot of christians are. They don't seem to care about the affect of religion, they just want their faith and they don't care about anyone else.
the thing that really makes me mad is how they teach the kids that christians are some how in the minority and are being persecuted. Like when the girl handed the flyer to the black guys in washington dc, and then said she thought they were muslims, and acted surprised thatsome of these people were already christian
you're partially right, but i don't think you realize how long this has been going on.
they do this generation after generation. They won't go on "rampages" or whatever, but they will become the manipulators of the next generation, which, in a way, is worse.
I totally agree with what you are saying, FantasticBabblings, and when I watched jesus camp, I immediatley started to worry about the state that those children were being put into and how it would afect them in the long run.
thank you said ,it all ,I completly agree with you ,i expreianced this abuse as a child untell i was able to break free at 13 and explored diffrent ways of see god and found god,I feel the same feeling to my god as they tryed to make me feel as a child, but with out fear ,tears ,and emotional /spiritual rape.
Part 1: (Youtube and it's %&£@ 500.character limit...)
Very, very, VERY well said.
When I was little, I went to a place after school where I learned about God. There, they never told us stuff like: "You'd better obey, or YOU WILL BURN IN ETERNAL FLAMES DOWN IN HELL!!", in other words; no brainwashing. And about 90% of the time we spent there we were playing; we were allowed to be kids.
What especially scares me is all the hatred learned in Jesus Camp, the kids are taught to hate everything from atheists to Harry Potter. If they don't, they will be punished by God.
Makes me wonder, what would happen if I travelled to America and one of these kids walked up to me and asked: "If you died now, where do you think you would go?". And as an (honest) atheist I'd probably tell them where I really think I would go: "To my grave".
And if I had to mention that I'm an atheist, they'd probably back away as fast as they could. "OMG, a Jesus hater! The devil in it's human form! RUN!! Before she tries to make us gay!!"
Part 3:
This Betty Whatever-her-name-was is probably giving them all that picture of a non-Christian. Someone who hates Jesus and is trying to force everyone to not believe in their, well... beliefs.
Ehm, excuse me, but I don't hate Jesus just because I don't believe in him, (he did say a lot of good stuff, actually), and I'm not trying to brainwash people to come over to "my side of darkness and evil, MOAHAHHAHA!11!".
I've been depressed for a long time now, and things like these just makes me even more frightened. Kids getting brainwashed to become an "army of God". My paranoia is getting worse, and I'm scared. Really scared.
Like the Catholics are any better. Wanna talk about how the RCC is telling Africans not to use condoms because they will die of AIDS IF the do? Wanna talk about the Bishops who are saying that condom companies put AIDS int he condoms to kill Africans?

you are a complete douche bag. that is great one chromosome that doesn't prove anything and if that is so how come we don't see the ape/caveman transformation still happening???
the Bible isn't a fairy tale. it takes faith which is hard i have to say and that is what it takes. I chose to believe, but evolution that is taught in school takes faith or the big bang theory. It is this country that allows people like me to believe in the Bible or folks like yourself not to and that is something that is great.
No, the Bible is not a fairy tale - it is a combination of fairy tales, myths, parables, legends, stories stolen from earlier religions, and outright lies mixed with just enough truth to get you to believe the whole enchilada. And, you've fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker.
No i have faith and we have proof of Christ's resurrection where he rose from the dead on the 3rd day and we have satellite photos of noah's ark. it is your choice not to believe and i respect that, but in the same way i have faith. how about all the crap we are made to believe like evolution or the big bang theory that is crap and we are told it is true in schools. that take faith also??????
Christians are hypocritical in so many different ways, but none so much as in their hypocrisy where science is concerned. They don't think twice about using their cell phone, PC, PDA, or other techno-gadgets that ALL are products of science. But, when science tells them that their beliefs are nonsense, all of a sudden science is "evil" and not to be trusted.
Stop lying to yourself - but, most of all, stop spreading those lies to others. Please?
Science demonstrates its trustworthiness every day in that science is willing to be incorrect for the sake of finding the truth. Religion, on the otherhand, offers no supporting logic, reason, rationality, evidence, and/or proof of any of its extraordinary claims - it just demands faith and belief without evidence. And, religion is not willing to be incorrect. Science makes good on its promises - religion doesn't.
If science is taught properly, it always carries a caveat that theories change, or even die, when controverting evidence comes to light. That is the difference in science and faith. Faith is steady despite the evidence. Science changes with new evidence. They are, in fact, opposites.
no they aren't. they are taught to be real when they are just theorys. and what does that have to do with kids wanting to do what is right or praying for someone.
whatever so if the big bang theory is taught as theory how come we can't have creationism taught in schools like missouri does then it would be fair and balanced duh
Myths, fables, legends and lies should not be given the same credibility as an honest attempt at finding the truth of anything.
Why should ideas that have no evidence supporting them be given equal weight to ideas with enormous amounts of evidence supporting them? Why should belief trump logic, reason, rationality, evidence, and/or proof?
Are you fucking joking? Creationism is NOT based on science, it is not falsifiable and there is NO scientific evidence supporting it! Teaching creationism in school is not fair and balanced. Rather, it is an insult to the entire scientific community. Evolution is a theory which is proven over and over again with every bit of evidence we find.
Creationism = myth. Evolution = reality. Get with the fucking program.
please give me a break like evolution is supposed facts. lol teaching creationism in schools is fair and balanced, because it gives you a choice and not teaching both is a slap in the face of freedom of choice.
NO, it is NOT. How many times do I have to say it before it sinks into your PATHETIC theist brain? It is NOT fair to teach both because only one is actually put to scientific scrutiny and continues to hold water. Creationism holds NO water whatsoever. If you want to be taught creationism, go to Chruch or a philosophy class. There is no scientific evidence to back up creationism.
Wow here you are again. Funny you are spreading anti-christian messages and I am spreading Christian messages. Good vs. Evil I guess. But please stop stereotyping Christians because I for one like science, but when science claims something it can not prove then I have a problem with it, but what you claim is that we hate it because it is ungodly, which is untrue and shows that you are uneducated to our beliefs.
Why do you have problems with science when science can't prove something, but not have problems with Christianity's utter inability to prove anything it says? Why would you follow it?
And, I'm willing to bet I have far superior knowledge of Christianity than you.
I hate you so much. You people are the most disgusting liars there are on this planet, and I stick to the truth, not dark-age religion and ill-based faith that brings you nowhere.

I am a 16 year-old-boy who has experienced the work of the spirit. I have also been molested several times and once raped. Because you havenot experienced God in the way the children have you know not what you peak of. The fire of the spirit dwelleth not in thine emotions, but interacts with ones spirit which is hidden beneaththe wickedness the world teaches. Because of God and growing up in an evangelical church I know much a do about it.
You are far too young and stupid to be pretending to know everything. You don't speak for God and neither does your religion. Get over yourself. Get help. You desperately need it - then, maybe, you'll get laid.
Mark 16:15-18 (NIV) He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
"This world'scursed disease forms the unprotected brain into an onion; one raunchy layer at a time. As you pass through each psuedoidea another appears overcoming each until one sees below the filth lies nothing."
"Intentions hidden that lurk against those of good intent exist in the minds of those whose hearts fear the wisdom their spirits will never be capable of maintaining."
Crying over the bible won't solve anything. They need to do more real actions that matter instead of preaching gibberish words like "Obawakanahaya (what?). They should talk from the heart more than memorized verses and spells like they're going to cure the world by staying in buildings and crap. You don't need to jump around and cry - that's a super nerf down the fact that children can think for themselves.
so well put. this documentary was terrifying on so many levels. one child was obsessing over her habit of 'dancing for the flesh' instead of 'dancing for the lord'. it's so sad that a sweet child can't be carefree and dance. another thing i noticed--all i kept hearing were the worlds 'blood', 'revolution', 'death', 'sin'. These fear-filled words are seeping into impresionable minds--and that is not what children of that age should be focusing on.
hey m8 great job... i completley agree with you... i was watchin a doco recently about children and there development, theyl pretty much belive whatever there told was the basic gist of it lol... but yea i've watched a few of the clips on utube about jesus camp and it scared the crap out of me! i cant believe sum parents can do this 2 there children, it makes me sad...
I teach a class called the psychology of fear and this is the perfect movie for it. This movie is about how people create fear in other people, it is not about "Jesus" or "God" nor is it about It is NOT christianity. It is Religious Terrorism the "minister" should be locked up.
When did we stop teaching our children, these people are "training" our children. Huston we got a problem.
people like this guy should be raising children...instead of the kind of parents who send their kids to brainwashing facilities to "believe" and fear what is dictated to them by ignorant and judgmental people. Religion is killing faith in a higher power.
Very clear way of outlining those opinions. Don't necessarily agree with all your predictions. I think a lot of those kids will go on to have positions of high influence within the community. This is what scares those who believe in a secular community...
I accidentally gave the video one star, cause my mouse was being freaky. :( I think it deserves a 5, though. :)
Anyway, I wanted to say that I agree with what you've said. I haven't seen the entire documentary yet, but from the clips I have seen... it's really scary. And more than anything, it's sad. This kind of indoctrination geared toward kids can really screw with their heads.
well you are a evil Satan worshiper who if fat and stupid god will come down on you and strike you with lighting and you know what those kid wern't crying they were worshiping jesus the masia the lamb of god the my friend were speaking in toungs!!
The things that happen in Jesus camps are the type of things that piss a person off to the point at which their ego and superego fail to hold back the animalistic urge to simply strike out at such horrid mutations of human DNA. The beasts that run those cult camps should be jailed for life.
evertthing that us christians do that is tryin' to help the world yall make it to look bad. Why is cause you are of you father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do. He does not stand in the truth cause there is no truth in him. The bible states that. But you don't believe " Why is cause you are of you father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do. He does not stand in the truth cause there is no truth in him. Need I say more.
Very well said sir. I'm a Catholic and I've never seen that kind of treatment to children as horrible as the one I've seen at Jesus camp. Let's pray for them, especially for the children. Boy! children as young as 6 years old being subjected to such torture!
hear hear. I agree with you. I have seen this first hand as a child. I also watched as much as I could of "Jesus Camp" ... which, buy the way, I feel is far more terrifying than any horror movie ever created. The number of people who believe as those in the film believe is staggering.
Thank you for taking the time to post this video. Your honesty and sincerity are clearly present in your speech and mannerism. Quite refreshing- thanks again.
well, i went and watched the video and these are my i wouldnt call it child abuse but i would call it silliness. I also think this lady is irresponsible as are the parents who send their kids there. I do think some non religious TV programs and movies that some parents allow their children to watch are even worse that what is going on here, which I think is a much bigger problem because of the sheer scale of it.
I saw that film myself and the camp reminded me of the Hitler Youth Movement in Nazi Germany. And your right, it is abuse. It's abuse to forward the warped ideology of crazed fanatics.
I saw the movie Jesus Camp and I couldn't get it through my head how these kids are being raised. It hurts my heart to see this. I'm a type of Christian, but this is not the kind of Christianity I would ever practice. It just literally hurts my heart. I'll pray for them. At least they know the Lord, I guess, but these people seriously need to rethink their actions and beliefs because there is something really wrong there.I cant begin to explain how pissed off I was after Jesus Camp.
This is mind control and mental child abuse. This is child abuse in one of its abysmal forms. In my opinion those people who do this to those poor and helpless children should be locked away. This has nothing to do with freedom of religion. Freedom of religion does not include causing psychological trauma in innocent children and brainwashing them. And that's exactly what is happening in those camps. It is absolutely disgusting!!!
the movie jesus camp is verry sick i wish christians would stop attacking children at such a young age in let them live life and learn some christians really need some help i'll tell you that much.
i don't agree with you...cuz first there was man, who created god, after that god created man....so it does change him. and how can god be good only without beeig bad? how can you know what is good if you don't know what is bad? and yeah...a great video
The Devil is a liar...I'm not sure if you know it or not but you are right in line with the End Times...I could argue with you..I know the Bible...if you like it or not you are being used by God to fulfill scriptures of the EndTime..So instead of fussing I say..Thank you...
Written like a true unthinking brainwashed automaton. With some deprogramming you might be able to recover the use of your mind and be able to think rationally. It's a blast, I assure you.
Me=2 degrees, Microsoft certified and a business owner. My mind works fine. I'm smart enough to know that there is a God and you are being used by him. I'm also smart enough to know: And Peter said unto him Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the HOLY Ghost. Ok now you know..when you meet God you have no excuse.
those children were not abused...just because they are on fire for god doesnt mean anything bad. In fact it means that there parents actually love them.
on fire for god? There are a lot of muslims in Iraq and Palestine that are just as on fire for god, both literally and figurative. (I know you're speaking figuratively but it show it still reveals your hypocrisy) I thought George Bush's whole crusade in the world was to STOP people from being "on fire for god."
Nothing wrong with teaching your kids about God but this is a harmful way of doing it. I feel it would push more of the away from God as an older kid then it would keep them in a Church. I don't even think you need a Church to talk to kids about God. Also if my kids ever think there is no God I will also support them on that choice.
These kids were abused? I wouldn't say so. Would it be better to teach them that there's no God, that they shouldn't respect their parents, authorities, that they're just animals and they have no hope in life. Would it be better to teach them how to be rude and violent and disrespectful to eachother? I haven't seen any of these things they would be trained for.
All of your prejudice against atheism is based on a complete misunderstanding of Humanism and humanitarianism. I am a very moral person, I have a great relationship with my loving parents, I'm not violent or disrespectful, and I'm proud of my accomplishments. I love life and people. I sorely hope you learn to interact with people before you make judgements about them; it's what Jesus would want.
yes they are abused! Listen to them, they are robots. Everything that comes out of their mouth is a bunch of bullshit that their parents made them memorize. Children do not talk liek that. They sound like adult evangelical preachers. Evangelicals are the American Taliban. Jesus camp is a madrasa. They may think they are so holy and doing gods will but so does al qaida.
All religious fundamentalists are delusional. Its a fucking fairytale, get wake up!
These children have a better understanding of what they are talking about then you do. I watched several clips about what they are doing and none of them are child abuse. These kids are crying for you. They know that if you don't hear the truth about Christ then you will never come to trust Him and eventually you will go to hell. Sorry I know that sounds harsh but it is true. They are praying for the lost.
I believe that children should be taught not to lie, hit, steal, and not to fight and everything, but to put them through emotional abuce is just wrong, I saw a video about it, and they all are breaking into tears. My mom's riend's daughter(who is in kindergarten) learned of the devil(by one of her classmates) and was just didn't want to go to bed, and then these children are taught that they are devils and are going to be horrible, i just can' even imagine what they are going through
your taking things like this jesus camp and twisting it to your point of veiw,i could do the same, say for instance what you said from 1:33to1:47,that makes you sound like a pervert, like you get off on watching kids or somthing even if these kids are being brained washed it's not up to you to make that call to do somthing about it,your not GOD
Yes. Scare the bejesus out of the little brats. That's the way to teach "morality." Big Brother Jesus is watching you. Great video expanding on Dawkin's idea.
umm who is Dawkins? are you referring to Darwin? well you need to read...On Darwin's death bed he admitted to everything that he said about Evolution is a lie...read people..it's not hard
Well...I will sum it up with this...#1 you don't have kids..how do you know about what they will grow up to become. #2 I didn't write the bible, and neither did they...We just follow it..Become good ground, if you agree with the way they worship or not, don't let that hinder YOUR relationship with God. That is what we are made for..
those fuckers should be locked out and sent to mars

A very eloquent and heartfelt (and true) condemnation, sir.
I wish more adults felt the way you do--not about religion in general, but about pseudo-pedophilic child abuse such as we see in JESUS CAMP.

Well said. This IS child abuse, and we should not be afraid to say so. I was indoctrinated into the Christian faith as a child, but by the age of 15 I was too smart for them (modesty aside); I had learned critical thinking skills.

05005051 3 years ago

Stay strong, dude. Don't let idiots get you down. I was religiously abused. Just stay strong and don't let your mind get infected by religion.
KingMahBoy 3 years ago 4
EVIL!
BuzzardlyThings 3 years ago
Religious Indoctrination of Children is Child Abuse. It must stop. They should let them develop their minds first than make the choice. I grew up in a fundamentalist church also, I was also really into the bible. It fucked me up to say the least.
KingMahBoy 3 years ago
Bang on.I agree.I think your link between sexual abuse (where, in cases, there can be strong emotional arousal and manipulation) and the emotional manipulations of Jesus camp is correct. It's only when they are adults that they can look back and say "Oh! What was happening back there!" and then have to come to terms with their parents complicity. And take years to pick up the fragments of their lives and their identities...
that is what happened to me.
sheeshkebab 3 years ago
I just finished watching Jesus Camp and can honestly say it was just as disturbing to me as watching the radical Muslims preaching hate and terrorist ideals. I agree that these radical tactics are the equivalent of child abuse and the Evangelical leaders of these groups are nothing more than cult leaders who get off on controlling others. I was totally disgusted....and yes I am a Christian.
mosaicdoc 3 years ago
I believe that indoctrinating children at such a manner and young age, will cause a lot emotional scarring. Especially since they've learned not to do anything "for the flesh" and only for god.... But wouldn't this just lead to severe social awkwardness and paranoia? Perhaps anger and self righteousness when seeing others in sin...
No doubt that these children be damaged in one way or another, but I don't understand how you reached some of your conclusions, such a alcoholism, crime, etc.
eurodancequeen 3 years ago
What happens at these camps and in these homes and churches is where it all begins, where we learn to become adults who not only continue to eat shit but hold open our wallets for the shit merchants to take from as well. And it's not just something that starts in religious institutions. It happens everywhere that critical thinking is suppressed. (We're taught to think, but not HOW to think.)
creekracer 3 years ago
You are right. Religion has always been one of the most effective tools the powerful use to control the powerless.
FantasticBabblings 3 years ago
This isn't to say that religion is inherently dangerous, though certain religions, due to the original intent of their sacred texts, are more prone to extremism than others. A believer can interpret the Bible however he wants: he can lean towards the New Testament God of love, or he can favor the Old Testament God of wrath (that's the trouble with a bi-polar Bible). Either God is an inconsistent head case or there are actually two different "One Gods."

KingMahBoy 3 years ago 3
I dont get offended. I also hate religion. And how man has completely crapped on it. Don;t talk to me like you have something to prove because you don't. You do what you gotta do. You don't have to explain yourself to me. Me and you are on the same page pretty much, as far as s tuff like this goes.

Well, if that is the case, then you are totally correct. I don't have anything to prove to you, because you see the truth and aren't blinded by your own selfishness, like a lot of christians are.
Annausagi 4 years ago 3
What especially scares me is all the hatred learned in Jesus Camp, the kids are taught to hate everything from atheists to Harry Potter. If they don't, they will be punished by God.
Makes me wonder, what would happen if I travelled to America and one of these kids walked up to me and asked: "If you died now, where do you think you would go?". And as an (honest) atheist I'd probably tell them where I really think I would go: "To my grave".
Annausagi 4 years ago 5
Part 3:
And if I had to mention that I'm an atheist, they'd probably back away as fast as they could. "OMG, a Jesus hater! The devil in it's human form! RUN!! Before she tries to make us gay!!"
Part 3:
This Betty Whatever-her-name-was is probably giving them all that picture of a non-Christian. Someone who hates Jesus and is trying to force everyone to not believe in their, well... beliefs.
Annausagi 4 years ago 3
Ehm, excuse me, but I don't hate Jesus just because I don't believe in him, (he did say a lot of good stuff, actually), and I'm not trying to brainwash people to come over to "my side of darkness and evil, MOAHAHHAHA!11!".
I've been depressed for a long time now, and things like these just makes me even more frightened. Kids getting brainwashed to become an "army of God". My paranoia is getting worse, and I'm scared. Really scared.

Ayjay28 4 years ago
the Bible isn't a fairy tale. it takes faith which is hard i have to say and that is what it takes. I chose to believe, but evolution that is taught in school takes faith or the big bang theory. It is this country that allows people like me to believe in the Bible or folks like yourself not to and that is something that is great.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
No, the Bible is not a fairy tale - it is a combination of fairy tales, myths, parables, legends, stories stolen from earlier religions, and outright lies mixed with just enough truth to get you to believe the whole enchilada. And, you've fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker.
lifewhispers1 4 years ago
No i have faith and we have proof of Christ's resurrection where he rose from the dead on the 3rd day and we have satellite photos of noah's ark. it is your choice not to believe and i respect that, but in the same way i have faith. how about all the crap we are made to believe like evolution or the big bang theory that is crap and we are told it is true in schools. that take faith also??????
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Christians are hypocritical in so many different ways, but none so much as in their hypocrisy where science is concerned. They don't think twice about using their cell phone, PC, PDA, or other techno-gadgets that ALL are products of science. But, when science tells them that their beliefs are nonsense, all of a sudden science is "evil" and not to be trusted.
Stop lying to yourself - but, most of all, stop spreading those lies to others. Please?
lifewhispers1 4 years ago
hey you have to have just as much faith to believe in evolution or the big bang theory.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Science demonstrates its trustworthiness every day in that science is willing to be incorrect for the sake of finding the truth. Religion, on the otherhand, offers no supporting logic, reason, rationality, evidence, and/or proof of any of its extraordinary claims - it just demands faith and belief without evidence. And, religion is not willing to be incorrect. Science makes good on its promises - religion doesn't.
inrface1 4 years ago
actully it doesn't how about the big bang theory that is taught to be fact when it's not or evolution. ???????
paulwebb1 4 years ago
If science is taught properly, it always carries a caveat that theories change, or even die, when controverting evidence comes to light. That is the difference in science and faith. Faith is steady despite the evidence. Science changes with new evidence. They are, in fact, opposites.
FantasticBabblings 4 years ago
no they aren't. they are taught to be real when they are just theorys. and what does that have to do with kids wanting to do what is right or praying for someone.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
The Big Bang Theory is a THEORY - and, taught as such (duh!).
Evolution is simply change over time. Everything in the Universe changes over time. Ergo, evolution is a FACT - period.
lifewhispers1 4 years ago 3
whatever so if the big bang theory is taught as theory how come we can't have creationism taught in schools like missouri does then it would be fair and balanced duh
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Myths, fables, legends and lies should not be given the same credibility as an honest attempt at finding the truth of anything.
Why should ideas that have no evidence supporting them be given equal weight to ideas with enormous amounts of evidence supporting them? Why should belief trump logic, reason, rationality, evidence, and/or proof?
lifewhispers1 4 years ago
you didn't answer my question about being fair and balanced.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Are you fucking joking? Creationism is NOT based on science, it is not falsifiable and there is NO scientific evidence supporting it! Teaching creationism in school is not fair and balanced. Rather, it is an insult to the entire scientific community. Evolution is a theory which is proven over and over again with every bit of evidence we find.
Creationism = myth. Evolution = reality. Get with the fucking program.
mjhacker 4 years ago
please give me a break like evolution is supposed facts. lol teaching creationism in schools is fair and balanced, because it gives you a choice and not teaching both is a slap in the face of freedom of choice.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
NO, it is NOT. How many times do I have to say it before it sinks into your PATHETIC theist brain? It is NOT fair to teach both because only one is actually put to scientific scrutiny and continues to hold water. Creationism holds NO water whatsoever. If you want to be taught creationism, go to Chruch or a philosophy class. There is no scientific evidence to back up creationism.
mjhacker 4 years ago
very pathetic doesn't want to have two stories only one sounds bias ya douche.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Science is not democratic. Public opinion is irrelevant. Creationism is not science, it is religion.
FantasticBabblings 4 years ago
science is great we need it, but a good bit of priniciples they base because other facts are true like the big bang theory.
paulwebb1 4 years ago
Wow here you are again. Funny you are spreading anti-christian messages and I am spreading Christian messages. Good vs. Evil I guess. But please stop stereotyping Christians because I for one like science, but when science claims something it can not prove then I have a problem with it, but what you claim is that we hate it because it is ungodly, which is untrue and shows that you are uneducated to our beliefs.
freespeachrulez 4 years ago
Why do you have problems with science when science can't prove something, but not have problems with Christianity's utter inability to prove anything it says? Why would you follow it?

Crying over the bible won't solve anything. They need to do more real actions that matter instead of preaching gibberish words like "Obawakanahaya (what?). They should talk from the heart more than memorized verses and spells like they're going to cure the world by staying in buildings and crap. You don't need to jump around and cry - that's a super nerf down the fact that children can think for themselves.
DeathguiseIX 4 years ago
so well put. this documentary was terrifying on so many levels. one child was obsessing over her habit of 'dancing for the flesh' instead of 'dancing for the lord'. it's so sad that a sweet child can't be carefree and dance. another thing i noticed--all i kept hearing were the worlds 'blood', 'revolution', 'death', 'sin'. These fear-filled words are seeping into impresionable minds--and that is not what children of that age should be focusing on.

I sorely hope you learn to interact with people before you make judgements about them; it's what Jesus would want.

but animals are like humans!

yes they are abused!

Well said indeed!!

Jesus Camp is tame in comparison to the foolishness that's out there. Have you ever heard of Freedom Village USA?
JudsonP 4 years ago
Actually, what he says is very logical. o.o
Don't go bashing someone who tells the truth and have predictions that make sense. Or maybe you should read the law book for yourself, yeah? O_o

I agree with everything you are saying. In addition: Some things I've seen in these 'Jesus Camp' videos are similar to cults.

your taking things like this jesus camp and twisting it to your point of veiw,i could do the same, say for instance what you said from 1:33to1:47,that makes you sound like a pervert, like you get off on watching kids or somthing even if these kids are being brained washed it's not up to you to make that call to do somthing about it,your not GOD

You either have wax in your ears, or a defective brain if you got that from this video.

Yes. Scare the bejesus out of the little brats. That's the way to teach "morality." Big Brother Jesus is watching you. Great video expanding on Dawkin's idea.

umm who is Dawkins? are you referring to Darwin? well you need to read...On Darwin's death bed he admitted to everything that he said about Evolution is a lie...read people..it's not hard
sunneshyne 4 years ago
He did not!
FantasticBabblings 4 years ago
Well...I will sum it up with this...#1 you don't have kids..how do you know about what they will grow up to become. #2 I didn't write the bible, and neither did they...We just follow it..Become good ground, if you agree with the way they worship or not, don't let that hinder YOUR relationship with God. That is what we are made for..
