How can these imbociles consider a rare species as the Coelacanth as their dinner when they know full well that the Coelacanth was believed to be extinct long time ago.
Doesn't that say something? that the Coelacanth might still be endangered species?
If these imbociles are not careful they will hunt the poor fish to extinction for good.
Then it will never come back .
I hope these imbociles know a thing about conservation.
The fish is not adapted to live at the surface. Therefore it will die anyway. Why are some of you getting so upset about people wanting to eat it? And why are some people getting really angry about time scales?
@AngryAdobo apes did not evolve from humans, and humans didn't evolve "from" apes, and that's not what evolutionary theory proposes or states at all. Humans are a species of ape who share a common ancestor with other apes you see today. And how do you know that fish is the same? We have a myriad of fossils that state otherwise. And there are two extant species of that fish.
@AngryAdobo I think you're using that word without knowing what it means first. Can you define what a scientific theory is and still say that? If you do any sort of investigation on what it takes to put a scientific theory, you'll be surprised. Do that, and then consider this: What other theories have the same amount of evidence backing them up?
@Blodslav Mate, just get off YouTube, go lie down on your bed, look up at the ceiling, and just know you evolved from a monkey. The resemblance is most likely uncanny. Live the life you were given.
@AngryAdobo BUT only you say that we evolved from monkeys. That's not what evolution says though. And thats not what happened. Yeah, the anatomical resemblance is uncanny, if you look at all the bones, their structure, as well as the structures of our genomes. The fact that ALL life is genetically related Is a profound realization, and only a biggot like you would think less of other apes because they havent developed the things we have and in turn try to deny our heritage.
@Uranius7 That's the dumbest thing I've heard! Of course that fish has changed. Coelacanth is an order of fish, not a species of fish. In that order there are several (2 that i know of) extant species, and about a dozen extinct species. Lol.
@HarryAndres1120 Do you know nothing about fish? The Coelacanth is very very rare. It is known as the living fossil. It has been alive for thousands and thousands of years, but people thought is was extinct hundreds of years ago.
Beautiful creature probably caught by mistake, unfortunetly they rarely survive the trip to the surface. I dont think they could even put it back if they want to
RELEASE THAT FISH! coelacanths are magnificant! don't you dare kill it just because you want to show the world you caught one you assholes! really. i mean, ok we got it, you caught a coelacanth! but catching one and letting it die is worthless. only seeing it for yourself and letting it live is a thousand times better! put it back!
It's a shame that the fish had to suffer this.I quote PFK:
Unfortunately the fish was doomed from the moment it reached the surface of the water. Given the temperature difference – some 20°F – between the water here and the water at the Coelacanth’s comfortable depths, it is generally accepted that even if the fish had been released from here it would have lacked the strength to fight its way back down to an acceptable level, through changes in its metabolism and oxygen requirements.
1:25 Kid damn near ripped its fin off! Poor fish. It seemed like it was going into shock. They should have took a few pictures and then put him back; not call everyone and their cousin to come and see it. It's not an object of amusement, its a living animal!
Tell that to all the major universities in the world that teach evolution. You're the one who's out of the loop. It's arrogant to criticize something you don't understand.
@dudev You mean those major universities that teach Coelacanth was extinct 65 million years ago and that soft tissue could never make it in the bones of fossilized dinosaur bones for millions of years, yet they found it in a T-Rex bone and more recently many others, also red blood cell traces....yea there is plenty of evidence to contradict the THEORY of evilution, but most so called scientists ignore this information and press on with their beliefs.
Coelacanth refers to a group of species, most of which are extinct. And two living coelacanth species are only generally like their extinct relatives. So evolution has occurred. And it's interesting how the tiny fragments of soft-tissue found in T.Rex fossils come from deep inside large bones which have been buried in sediment for millions of years, not exposed to oxygen or the elements. And scientists are the ones reporting this information, dumbass. They do the actual work.
But please explain in detail how creation worked. The bible says god breathed life into dirt to make Adam. No details are provided. Was it by magic? Sounds like a fairytale.
Coelacanth is NOT a species. It's the name of a group of closely related fish. And most of the species are extinct. And the living species is only generally similar to the extinct ones. Science is in the details, smartass.
This is agony to watch. Beautiful, ancient fish, being pulled around and tormented by a species that didn't exist when it first started gently pottering around the oceans.. How pathetic, small and stupid humans are!
@Pathtith Agreed man, I can't imagine how serene Earth would have been hundreds of millions of years ago, must have been so awesome without humans destroying everything, it really sucks that they feel the need to keep the fish, when its on the brink of extinction. All humans do is take take take, no thought for sustain or equilibrium.
How does it's swim bladder not explode after being brought to the surface? I know taking a Walleye to the surface from just a couple hundred feet can do some serious damage to it. Was the Coelacanth ok?
Did they release the coelacanth? It looks more like they set him in a compartment that was underwater to keep the fish alive for the time being. Such a beautiful fish.
the coelacanth is the best known (lazarus taxon) which means it was thought to be extinct and as you can see it isnt the name coelacanth is latin and means in english hollow spine after the hollow spines on its fins its a true survivor anyway good post

This video explains very well why creatures like the "coelacanth" dont exist. well the ass-holes are having fun torturing the poor thing. they shued of just record it. take its messures and done let the poor thing go. but noo they rather have fun. i rather be a fossil than to be tortured by these ass-holes... really >=(
YOU GUYS ARE FUUUUCKKING IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUT THE FISH BACK IN THE WATER. its going to die!!! no wonder theyre almost exctinct!!!!
@xXDaKurlzzXx ?? Colelacanths weren't discovered until like the late 19 to early 20th century. They are also very reclusive. They are not endangered due to human activity.
More than 100 species go extinct every year. Approximately 1 of those can be attributed to humans, and even then only recently have we had such power.
Left unmentioned, ALWAYS unmentioned, is what NEW species have evolved BECAUSE of our actions.
Biodiversity is INCREASING, not decreasing. What is required to REDUCE biodiversity even temporarily is an Extinction Event, usually a massive Cosmic Ray flare or meteorite.
Bloody morons. O look its ancient, rare fish, lets torture it for personal amusement by toying with its fins, poking it and touching it, if it dies, lets say we fount it dead, we are so smart :O. I bet idiots like this also tryes to kill all the nautilus'es. -_-
They probably released it, the coelacanth is known for being really untasty and oily.

PUT THE FISH BACK IN THE WATER. its going to die!!! no wonder theyre almost exctinct!!!!
xXDaKurlzzXx 1 year ago
@xXDaKurlzzXx ?? Colelacanths weren't discovered until like the late 19 to early 20th century. They are also very reclusive. They are not endangered due to human activity.
gorillazfan3 1 year ago
@xXDaKurlzzXx As gorillaz said.
