Jesus warned people of hell. Hell is real, sinners go there and Christ is the way to be saved. preaching the gospel is important and showing people why they need a saviour is also important and it is loving to warn about hell.

Its very true that Christians today, or those who profess such, are often not much as ambassadors of Christ. We ought to seek to portray a better picture of the Saviour in our lives and walks. However, don't disregard that, even when we DO show Christ, many are offended and hear differently than what we say. If we were to warn people about hell, some would take it well and with appreciation, while others would take it as being mean and judgmental.
While I'm an agnostic/atheist now, I used to be christian for many years. But even from the point when I became 'saved' I still had a problem with many christians for the very reasons that you listed. I have since come to a conclusion as to why born agains act the way they do. They are people who may have had a religious experience, but still have never faced their own pain and recognized it for what it is. Instead they project their own self-loathing onto the outside world.

However, there are many Christians that have studied other beliefs, and the Bible is infact a history book about our religion. Just be careful not to put all Christians into that sterotype. The reason Jesus told the ruler this is because the ruler loved his possesions more than he loved Jesus. His posessions came before God. He wasn't willling to part with his things to inherit heaven. We need to check ourselves and ask these questions: What do I love most? If I had to, would I sell, or get rid of this thing I love the most? Sometimes the answer is a hard reality to swallow.
I try to live my life by treating others as I expect to be treated and respecting others beliefs, though if I find their beliefs irrational I will try to make them see my point of view. I can't in good conscience call my self a Christian because I find much of the bible offensive. Its filled with intolerance and extreme punishments as well as just plain silliness.

Sharing the word of God in Love and Living the Love of God is what will show those who do not believe that God is the sorce of true love and forgiveness. I'm not cherry-picking, because the bible says we aren't under the old covenant(testament) where that was stated, but we're under the new covenant because of christ's death.

God didn't decide he was wrong, but Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, and we don't have to sacrifice things for cleansing anymore, just need god's grace, which is what makes it possible for you and i to repent, and homosexuals don't have to be executed anymore. because he died and you're right they are the same, he didn't change, the law did, and all because of Jesus' death.
So God planed on Jesus dying so he could change what he said and say that it was because of Jesus death? I think that God had an idea that Jesus was going to die, I also think an all knowing God would have the foresight to see that it might be a little too convenient for that too take place. Secondly, from your video I surmise that you feel the positive qualities you ascribe to 'good Samaritans' are values good Christians should possess.

Are kindness and giving love (regardless of deserving) virtues that should be aspired to strictly in a Christian/Religious sense?

Its very true that Christians today, or those who profess such, are often not much as ambassadors of Christ. We ought to seek to portray a better picture of the Saviour in our lives and walks. However, don't disregard that, even when we DO show Christ, many are offended and hear differently than what we say. If we were to warn people about hell, some would take it well and with appreciation, while others would take it as being mean and judgmental.

While I'm an agnostic/atheist now, I used to be christian for many years. But even from the point when I became 'saved' I still had a problem with many christians for the very reasons that you listed. I have since come to a conclusion as to why born agains act the way they do. They are people who may have had a religious experience, but still have never faced their own pain and recognized it for what it is. Instead they project their own self-loathing onto the outside world.

Your title says it all. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian actually IS a Christian. I agree that the Bible doesn't give us the right to judge or look down on others. In fact, it tells us not to judge. It is sad that many Christians think this way. However, there are many Christians that have studied other beliefs, and the Bible is infact a history book about our religion. Just be careful not to put all Christians into that sterotype. Because like you, not everyone who disagrees with Christianity is an athiest.

Religon and atheism aside, this kid hits the nail on the head. We(believers and non) are often so preoccupied with our points of view; our obsessive need to make others see things "our way" that we often forget to be good PEOPLE regardless of our spirituality (or lack thereof). So tell me why, why does god seem to condenm people to death for the most ridiculuos reasons? Why does he tell his followers to kill other groups of people in his name? Okay guy, what are you smoking? The Bible doesn't do any of that. It sounds like you lack an understanding of Biblical Christianity.
1. People are condemned to death for murder, that's it. Now, God killed a few people in the Bible for other purposes, such as disobedience or rebellion. However, these are certain situations where basically, they're just asking for it.

You say that "some" Christians believe themselves to be better than others? Try the vast majority of them. I live in a community that shuns and hates non-Christians even if they are good people. This video was a nice idea, but it's only the pipedream of a delusional child.

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

No, I haven't. And I will be the first to admit that I am not a model Christian. But that is not what I am trying to be. In this passage, a rich young ruler asked Jesus what he needed to do to inherit the kingdom of heaven. When he proudly told Jesus that he had kept all of the commands, Jesus told him to sell all fo his possesions and give the money to the poor. This is the passage you quoted. The ruler then went away sad.

The reason Jesus told the ruler this is because the ruler loved his possesions more than he loved Jesus. His posessions came before God. He wasn't willling to part with his things to inherit heaven. We need to check ourselves and ask these questions: What do I love most? If I had to, would I sell, or get rid of this thing I love the most? Sometimes the answer is a hard reality to swallow.

I'm not a Christian, but I do believe in God.
I try to live my life by treating others as I expect to be treated and respecting others beliefs, though if I find their beliefs irrational I will try to make them see my point of view. I can't in good conscience call my self a Christian because I find much of the bible offensive. Its filled with intolerance and extreme punishments as well as just plain silliness.

It looks to me that you have chosen to bypass all the bad stuff in the bible and try to be as good a person as you can be, whilst still calling yourself a Christian. I admire your convictions but I think you are afraid of facing the reality that you don't really believe the bible is the word of 'God'. You aught to take a much longer look at the book you base your beliefs on with a open mind.

No, i know exactly what is in the Bible. i am not bypassing the bad stuff. I am trying to look at my faith and belief with an open mind. I do take the Bible as the Word of God. The Bible is not only a letter from God to us, it is a history of Israel and the early church. Sometimes to learn how to be good, we need examples of bad. The Bible gives that.

I try to live by the word of Jesus Christ wihtout believing in god. I believe that Jesus had a clear and just message, but that god and satan, heaven and hell, were instruments made up so that we wouldn't go wrong. In this case it doesn't matter what god you praise or in what way you praise him, just try to make the world a better place for everyone by being the samariton.

Though this is a response to his video, I am not using this video as attack toward Pat. What Pat said in the beginning of his video is true. We Christians don't always follow what we preach. My question is meant to encourage those watching to be a good Samaritan. If Pat see this and decides to change, that is great. However, I was not expecting him to respond to this.

Perhaps you shouldn't have made this a response to his video since you neither expect him to respond, nor do you expect him to change. Hey well done. Loving people with the Love of Christ is something that is not practiced enough. Sharing the word of God in Love and Living the Love of God is what will show those who do not believe that God is the sorce of true love and forgiveness. I noticed many of the comments where side tracked. Truth is...They where trying to avoid the fact that they are afraid of the Light of Truth.

You're right it does say that, but we're not under old testament law anymore, seeing we don't have to make sacrifices to become "cleansed" of our sins any more, we have god's grace to do that and homosexuals are cleansed by his grace now too. Excellent vid by the way...

I'm not cherry-picking, because the bible says we aren't under the old covenant(testament) where that was stated, but we're under the new covenant because of christ's death.

God didn't decide he was wrong, but Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, and we don't have to sacrifice things for cleansing anymore, just need god's grace, which is what makes it possible for you and i to repent, and homosexuals don't have to be executed anymore. because he died and you're right they are the same, he didn't change, the law did, and all because of Jesus' death.

So God planed on Jesus dying so he could change what he said and say that it was because of Jesus death? I think that God had an idea that Jesus was going to die, I also think an all knowing God would have the foresight to see that it might be a little too convenient for that too take place. Maybe, Christianity changes with society so it can survive, kind of like how you don't use your appendix anymore. Christianity has been evolving throughout history.
