  • SP isn't bad, but it's definitely frustrating. Other people in the comments are saying it's simple to change user permissions. It is. However, when you have multiple websites and multiple groups (think different branches, units, teams, etc. in a large organization) then it starts to get complicated - especially when someone didn't set up the initial permissions correctly and you have to fix it (I've been in that situation).

I'd rather Box.net, it does what it needs to without hassle.

  • This clever video highlights the importance of user training. If a Site Administrator simply clicks on Site Actions, Site Settings, Permissions he should be able to remedy the guy's problem in about 15 seconds. It's true though - if something is too hard to figure out, people go back to what they know. Take heed SharePoint admins.

  • Um, just noticed this animation. I have to say... it takes only about 40 seconds to set permissions for a user or group in Sharepoint. This can be done easily by either IT professionals or typical office workers -- as long as they have at least BASIC computer skills. If you're having Sharepoint problems... get a little training.

  • เล่นกันอย่างนี้เลยเหรอ

  • Life should be simple. But reality is not how it should be and life is not simple. Sharepoint is simple when you organize it simple. The complexity of sharepoint is given by the users/administrators who make the setup, not by sharepoint itself.

  • I work for a website and we started using sharepoint two and a half years ago as a content management system (cms). I don't usually talk like that, but... dude, it sucks big time. It hasn't functioned properly not even ONCE! Plus, it's highly expensive. Whatever you do, keep off!

  • LOVE the animation . Please oh please, tell me what application/software did you use to create this .

  • This is something my business clients might find useful

  • @ender165 If the product was simple and intuitive, there would be no permission issue to begin with. .. and I think this is just a humorous example of one of more annoyances.

But if you're happy using Sharepoint, do continue using it ;)

  • Hardly fair.

  • Um... so his BIG problem was a permission problem. Any site owner (or anyone with 'full permissions' can go to the particular document library OR the particular file and change the permissions for him. (either for HIM personally or for his 'group' such as HR)

    Get some training people.

  • So a poor rollout can be done for any product. There are frustrations that can be dealt with 99% by training (as with any other product).

  • it's easier to make up your own knowldege base with mysql and php (u can find the scripts on the web) than fuckin trying to figure out how the fuck it works with sharepoint, and that asp coding shit is just dreadfule. a perfect world doesn't have microsoft in it

  • testing

  • Very well done and humorous as well. This video should do quite well.

  • Hahaha. Funny but true.
