In the original PPG they did but this is PPGZ. An anime version where they're not related and they were just normal girls. But it's been so long I don't remember exactly how they got their powers other then lab accident.

@Ketorulz : That would be Cartoon Network doing that. If you noticed, the Japanese version and the English subs are done by Animax, and the Japanese explore these issues all the time (no big deal for them). The English dubs are done by Cartoon Network, which tries to be as politically correct as possible (in case they actually release this in the U.S...they won't have to change anything on the dub). They apparently don't want to upset over-sensitive (and over-reactive) people.
