  • My phone fell into a bowl of pop. What to do? It's a Blackberry Storm

  • i dropped my bb 9700 in toilet water (not piss). I took it out straight away and tried to dry it with toilet paper. I then left it to dry for about 20 minutes and tried to turn it on. (i took out the battery from the phone and dried them separately) Also after i picked it up from the toilet water the phone was still working and i took out the battery. After i dried the phone i stupidly put the battery back in and it started flashing at the load bar. Now it just wont switch on. PLEASE HELP ME

  • hi i just drop my phone i water but the keybored and light is responding but not the screen what should i do

  • Mine fell in somebody else's piss.

  • Interesting. Thanks for the tips. I wonder if this will work for my Galaxy S?

  • water and electricity don't mix :(

  • I'm not a great disassembler so i'll try the rice process , if it didn't work i will try the alcohol process;) thank you very much...

  • My friend dropped her blackberry 9700 in a toilet ! I used this kind of technique but fully dried the phone off with a hairdrier when it was stripped down. I then used a paintbrush and Industrial methylated spirit 95% as this is all my chemist had and just splodged it on. I dont reccomend dipping as if you submerse the board it might to lead to later problems and longer drieing. I left 5 minutes put the board on newspaper then dried it out with a hairdrier put it back together and worked !

  • if the sticker in the back of my phone turns blue and the other ones red is meeans water damage.... will it still work?

  • did everything u said and DIDNT WORK -_______-

  • I have the 8530 curve and had a couple of ocean waves bury it in the sand before I knew it was off the beach chair. I dried it with a vacuum and placed it over night in rice the phone turns on fine now but the key pad doesnt work. would just cleaning the back of the key pad work? or do I need to soak it like you did? Thanks

  • will this work with a blackberry bold 9650? just wondering

  • i have a blackberry 9780, should this method work with this phone aswell ?

  • @juke1225 i dropped my phone in water but when i put a sim card into the phone it keeps saying 'SOS' how can i fix that problem ?

  • @xxbabyrushxx I do not know on that. Sorry

  • @juke1225

Hi there. Video seems very good... I'm currently in the process of buying the isopropanol and distilled water... do i want De-Ionised or Not De-ionised water???

  • @xxbabyrushxx me tooo sos :

  • so there I answered my own question with other peoples comments, I was hesitant before to try this but now I am stoked. Everyone should give this a try and not give up hope it appears, regardless of timeline! cheers jason all the best

  • "my phone has been down for a week since I dropped in in the toilet with throw up for some hours... very disgustin I know... I didnt find my phone until the next morning. I dried it off and put it in some rice, since then I have been able to use my phone to make calls, but the screen does not light up but it tries to come on! I ran across your video, so i went to get all the supplies you listed in the video, the only thing is, is that my phone is made differently from yours so all the screws"

  • "I had water damage from 6 months ago that slowly killed my phone. Six months later THIS METHOD FIXED MY PHONE. I couldn't find 99% isopropyl alcohol but i used EVERCLEAR. You really just need a clear liquid that will have a drying affect, 100% alcohol content should work; like EVERCLEAR or White Rum. but the content must be 100%. you can put some in a small cup and light it on fire to ensure it doesn't have water in it. Soak for 2 days in rice, 1 isn't enough. Everything wont be dry in 24hrs."

  • Hey Juke, similar question to TheLaw2009. Will the process still potentially work if a full week has passed? I left the phone in rice after the water but it would not turn on for the past week, then today it managed to display the no battery symbol on the screen when I plugged it in to charge. I really want to try this but only if I have some idea of whether it could still work. Thanks so much, really doing everyone a big favour.

  • thanks so muchhh !!!!!!!!!!! it workedd .

  • How long after will this work? does this have to be done immediately or can it still work after a while?

  • I was Sweating a lot. and thats how my phone got water damage, do i still have to use the distilled water?

  • This method will NOT work on a Blackberry Style (9670)! The plastic membrane is curled and deformed after the alcohol bath. I am trying to reshape it and get it back together, but I am not holding out any hope. I'll post back if I can get it back together, dried out and working.

  • I had my phone completely submerged yesterday left it in rice for 8 hours everything BUT the cursor works, im currently trying to figure out how to get that on and poppin again

  • My phone slid off the center console of my truck and fell into a cup of Blue Moon wheat beer. Should I use whole grain or white rice during the drying process?

  • @SweetAshou123 I left in rice for 24 hours however I was going out of town so I needed my phone ASAP. If you have time leave in for 48. And to answer your water question, use distilled water and follow the video precisely!

  • i used demineralized water is that okay?

  • i jumped in pool with my bb and stayed in their for 30 minutes and then realised i had my bb curve 8520 in my pocket, phone has stopped to work, i took the battery off and left it in sun for 30 minutes, i insert the battery again and it came back on, but before the software could load it died again, and it kept doing that everytime i would insert battery and take it out, do you think it is too late for me to try what you have suggested, this inciedent happened three days back, please help :)

  • My bb was next to a cup of tea and i accedentally dropped it on the phone and after a few hours my keyboard and all the buttons stopped working but it charges and the screen works! so ill do this tomorrow morning :D

  • is it work for damaged cause by detergent-water? i accidentally left it on my pocket while I do laundry :(

  • Juke thank you so much for this tutorial. I am pleased to announce that I successfully saved my blackberry bold 9700 by following your instructions. I could not find the 99% isopropyl but used 91% and it worked! Nevertheless I advise all readers to use 99% if available. Thank you so much!

  • @djbcutz That's great!

  • @djbcutz how long did u leave ur bb in the rice?

  • will this work with a blackberry 9800??

  • my water bottle was in my bag and my b was too and i forgot it was and the water soaked the screen up and it worked for about 1 month but the screen had marks on it and now the screen is so white . getting that stuff is so long

  • Juke,

if you're out there in blackberry ER, need some suggestions to my post earlier today. After imy bb9000 fell into coffee (it was on) two days ago, took it apart and put in rice. Today I soaked my bold 9000 in alcohol, have put in rice, still dead, the indicator light comes on for 5 seconds and goes out. Tried to connect it to blackberry desktop - desktop keeps asking "attach bold 9000". So it is a paperweight now or is there still hope?

Thanks for the video!!! You just saved me from having to use my wifes old pink cell phone!

  • @thejohn1084

  • My friend has a blackberry bold 9000 that she gave me.. tea was spilled onto it over 3 months ago and then the screen shows all white. The phone can receive calls, but I haven't been able to try and make any calls.. I'm not sure how BBs work so I dunno how her unlock is set up lol. I hope this works! I swished in distilled water, bathed in 99% isopropyl alcohol for 5ish mins, and its sitting in some rice.. probably for 3 days to be safe. Think I got a good chance? some chance > no chance!

  • @TrickWestern If I had a chance than everyone does. My phone was drenched for a while. Good luck!

  • i dropped my fone it water like 2 weeks ago because i thought it had no hope left i didnt do anything accept try to dry it out with a hair dryer , do you think if i still did what you did in this vid today it would work ? or did i leave it too long . thanks for this btw its really good :)

Well tonight I discovered where my the rest of the screws are located, but my torx got stripped, so I am going to rusht to the store 2mor to get more! What do you think the chances are of recovering my phone... I'm hoping it works becase i feel like a part of my life is missing, lol...

  • @Juatonis3G haha, pretty good. Is your model from 8300 series?

  • @juke1225 yes it is... and yeah I had bad luck today with my phone. one of the screws would not come out so I was unable to take apart the whole phone. I was unable to deattach the motherboard from the back panel of the phone. i was very frustrated so I just dipped the in the d water and moved it around, and in the water I saw the dirt particles that was on the motherboard/phone float into the water. I dumped the water out and repeated the step until the dirt particle was gone.

  • I did the same thing with the alcohol even though I could find 99% anywhere, I used 91% I used a blow dryer to help the drying process, then after a hour or 2 or so, lol I finally had the phone back together, and my poor phone is in the rice, lifeless... man I hope I didn't kill it, it's my first smart phone, haven't had it for 30 days:( I may just have to get another one! Thanks for your help and giving me this experience with my first Blackberry:)

  • my phone has been down for a week since I dropped in in the toilet with throw up for some hours... very disgustin I know... I didnt find my phone until the next morning. • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I friggin love your sexy ass because my phone is up and running!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOoOoOOooO MUCH!!!

  • LOL I had my blackberry in my bra while i was at work. And i guess I was working up a sweat cause toward the end of my shift, my phone stopped working. Well, not necessarily stopped working. My computer recognizes it and i receive text messages, calls everything but my trackball and buttons along the side as well as the keypad are unresponsive. Do you think just placing it in rice would suffice. I already took it apart and cleaned it with 99% al. But i didn’t submerge it in water or alcohol.

  • Ok I dropped my blackberry bold 9000 in a puddle and after about 5 minutes I found it and stopped working. Screen is not showing anything at all except battery with a red X on it. I tried your method step by step with the distilled water and alcohol. After about 40 hours in rice I tried to turn it on with a brand new battery but its still showing the same battery sign with the red X. Do you have a solution to my issue?

  • Does alcohol isopropyl 91% works too? Thank you!!

  • @caringd777 no use 99%

  • @juke1225 hummm ok thank you!!! I'm gonna try first with my 9700 that my baby drop to the toilet a few months ago... and yesterday did the same with my new bb Torch :"(

  • hi Juke!

I have a blackberry tour 9630 and i dropped it a few moths ago in water. I already brought it to a repair store, but it don't want to work again.

Can I still try this method?

  • @LuckyyAce It's worth a try u never know

  • I had water damage from 6 months ago that slowly killed my phone. Everything wont be dry in 24hrs.

  • @iscah90 haha. Good to know.

  • @ juke does this work even if LIQ spilled in your phone about 3 weeks ago...... My phone comes on and can recieve call and text messages but I just can't answer them because the qwerty is not working....will this process work for my phone too?

  • @smilez2smoochez yes, it should work

  • what do you do if you droped yours in juice?

  • @BagelBush25 same thing

  • @BagelBush25 Rinse with distilled water first then same method.

  • My Blackberry Bold 9780 Fell In Water About A Week Ago, At First It Worked Perfect But Then It just Stopped Working I Tried To Put It In Rice Without Taking It Apart Just The Battery Was Out, Should I Take It Apart And Try It In The Rice ? Or Should I Just Do This Methos ?? Oh And Will This method Work Because Im Kinda Scarred LoL Thanks For The Video Tho

  • @xSM4LLK1Dx Try the full method it won't hurt

  • hi dropped my 1 in water a while ago maybe a month ago will this still work

  • @DoctorWho0123 Yes it should. Try it
