Oh...that's me being funny. If you recall, Arsenal had two huge penalty decisions go against them in their quarter-final (Champions League) with Liverpool. The first involved Dirk Kuyt, who right in front of the referee locked Hleb's arm and pulled him to the ground. No one including Liverpool fans understood why the ref failed to give Arsenal a penalty. A day or two after the game 'Kuyt' revealed when challenged on the issue, disclosed that he knew the ref, close to his home town in Holland!
Hence I refer to the ref as Kuyt's 'uncle'. As for the second penalty that was given as Arsenal levelled the match at Anfield with 4 mins to go until full time...a Liverpool player took a delayed dive outside the area untouched and collapsed into the box - Penalty awarded! Haha! So is the life of a supporter...an ugly one I'm afraid!
Sounds like you were robbed mate. I didn't see the quarter-final to be honest. As I said in an earlier post, my interest in the top flight has waned as Leeds' star has faded. I'm french and in 1975 I felt ashamed about this french referee. What a scandal ! Leeds united where so superior and should have win 2-0. Even Beckenbauer said recently that if the referee valided Lorimer goal it had been very hard to win. I asked myself why Bayern won after being so incredibly dominated. The blatant Leeds goal was disallowed for an apparent push on a defender, i've watched this video over and over and over, and can't see a push. The ref gave the goal at first, then when on the way back to the halfway line Beckenbaur said something to him, then he ended up disallowing the goal. The linesman didn't flag for an infringement.

Oh...that's me being funny. If you recall, Arsenal had two huge penalty decisions go against them in their quarter-final (Champions League) with Liverpool. The first involved Dirk Kuyt, who right in front of the referee locked Hleb's arm and pulled him to the ground. No one including Liverpool fans understood why the ref failed to give Arsenal a penalty. A day or two after the game 'Kuyt' revealed when challenged on the issue, disclosed that he knew the ref, close to his home town in Holland!

Sounds like you were robbed mate. I didn't see the quarter-final to be honest. As I said in an earlier post, my interest in the top flight has waned as Leeds' star has faded. Hopefully my interest will be back sooner rather than later, though i'd be surprised if Leeds were back in the Premier League in three season's time. You never know though, I guess! Fans of rival teams should try being a Leeds fan for a day and see what it's liked to be hated by everyone. A lot of the time the hate goes way beyond banter. Leeds' recent decline has created a festival of spite towards us. Still, it's better than being ignored I guess!

Hope your team do well next season. For me, Arsenal are the least objectionable of the big four. I like Arsenal. They play superb football and have a strict wage structure. Hopefully i'll be going to the Emirates in a few seasons' time.

ColchesterWhite - Thanks mate. Yes, we've had problems ourselves with referee decisions beyond belief. Last year we had 9 first team players on the side lines due to injury this years it was 5...the other 3 teams all had their match winners fit. Well, it's only football. Oh...and in the Champions League...what can I say about Kuyt's uncle?

..one more thing...as soon as Leeds United are back in the premier division the better. I hope that Bates knows what he's doing. the same goes for Notts Forest as well...if I were to buy a football club it would be Leeds United no question...Leeds always reminds me when players could play, when tackles were tackles and guys just got up and dusted themselves down. Now, every tackle is a yellow card - and all players fake they've been in a death nailing car crash!

if you pause the video at 19 secs you will clearly see that no leeds player was off side when the ball was struck and even so lorimer wasnt passing to them so they werent interfering with play.
as for the penalty that was definately a penalty.

That Leeds team were the greatest club side the world had ever seen & still are. They made up the core of the Scottish International side that outplayed the best ever Brazil side inc. Pele in 1970.

I believe you finished 9th in 1974-75, and were flattened 5 times in a row the following two seasons by Doc's boys

Leeds were cheated throughout the Revie era. He brought the game into the modern era..& the FA didn't like it.
From CLEAR offside goals in crucial title race games, to being FORCED into playing 8 games in 15 days when in with chance of 4 TITlES (Man.U & Liverpool got break when they asked!!), to BENT referees to selectively BLIND referees - you can understand why the Leeds fans thought the whole world were against them...
Paranoia? Didn't the FA & 71 teams vote us to have a 15PT deduction?

Revies Leeds were the first of the modern games "Super Teams" who set the standard for todays football,difference been you played 42 games a season,every cup tie drawn went to a replay and you only had 1 sub,2nd best then, meant just that-no champions league for none champions in them days.We were just two good and consistant for that time & era to be liked.

We were never assisted like both Man Utd & Liverpool have been in recent years with the fixture list either because the f*cking dinosaurs at the FA hated us for being winners...a British disease!
I rememeber Leeds had 8 TOP games in 15 days to play..a chance to win all FOUR trophies inc. Chamionship games, League Cup Semi, Euro Cup Semi & FA Cup semi & the FA told us to f*ck off & play them.

The season you refer to is 69-70-we chased the treble to the death and ended with nothing
Also 71-72 season after been to made to play our first 5 games of the season away from home due to the tinkler incident- they made us play wolves for the double 48 hours after beating arse at wembley to lift the cup-it just would,nt happen in todays game-is it any wonder leeds fans of a certain age are the biter and twisted breed we are

The FA have always been arseholes....mind you Leeds made some mistakes...sacking Clough was the biggest followed by spending all our cash on Peter Barnes..but for that who knows where we would be!
However, it is reassuring to know that Manchester United are £750 million in debt..those boys in Red better had hope Ronaldo doesn't go or they could be joining us soon!!

Everyone knows the ref was part of a betting syndicate and never had a game again, same as the Salonika situation, the ray tinkler situation. Refs are bent. Just like the twat in control of the scum v arsenal game today, only saw one side of the game (not that was the reason for the result) but he was shite.

Yes well, however bad the referee was, that doesn't excuse the kind of rioting that went on. One man was half blinded by the missile throwing. Many Paris hotels were also laid to waste. The 1973 final against Milan was much worse as regards the refereeing, but at least the fans behaved themselves
